I used to take hundreds of all types of VW engines apart at Volkswagen of America in Southern California. Their facility was underground. Above ground was one giant parking lot with light poles that had outlets and air. That's were we took apart the engines and put parts in bins. If the engine had decent compression, it's life was spared! :)
