I just started 2 practice knitting socks this way, also I'm knitting english style the way u do 4 when I do fair isle knitting. All this makes it feel awkward in my hands.
@GayzeStarr There are several ways to do a provisional cast-on, and crocheting right on to the knitting needle is another good way. I do it this way because I happen to be much more coordinated with a knitting needle than I am with a crochet hook. :)

@dankimforde No - I have a magic loop sock video tutorial, but it is for cuff-down socks, not toe-up.

Any special reason you don't just crochet the waste yarn right on to the knitting needle?
