The gas-tax holiday is the biggest bullshit gimmick idea ever conceived in relation to energy policy.

We need to RAISE gas taxes, not LOWER them. Lowering will send a false message to Americans that gas is "cheap" again and they will increase needless consumption (which will drive up prices even more!). It takes about 600 pounds, or about 10 bushels of either Wheat, or Corn to fill a 25 gallon tank of gas.

You would get about 3 tanks of gas per acre with Wheat and about 9 tanks of gas per acre with Corn.

What it takes in grain to fill up an SUV one time, could feed a person for up to a year.

How large a carbon foot print is crated to grow and harvest an acre of Wheat or Corn?

But, there's enough blame to go around on both sides. MC's calls for a gas tax holiday is nonsense, and his "plan" does nothing for anybody in the near term (next 10 yrs). BO has no plan at all; just party-line refusal to even consider nuclear or more drilling.

We need a bi-partisan committee to look at ALL options. Everything needs to be on the table.

Excomm: I've seen the vid on Youtube where Obama discusses energy, including nuclear power. But, like many of his opinions, he uses soft language (to facilitate later flip-flops) like "it needs to be part of the equation".

We'll see what happens, but I'll eat my hat if we build any new nuclear power plants under Obama.

BO's only reason for existence is his position as "a new kind of politician" and "words matter", and of course his message of "hope" and "change".

BO's numerous flip-flops directly contradict the foundation of his message and the very reason he won the primary in the first place. Instead of being a genuinely new type of pol, it appears more and more that he's just the same old weasel-wording shapeshifting lizard type of pol.

Obama has no record to warrant anybody's vote. Except...his promise he's a "new kind of pol" that will bring fundamental change to D.C. and "fix the system".

Obama's flip-flops put that lofty rhetoric to the lie; there's nothing "special" about him at all, just another pol. And if that's true, why on earth would I vote for him? W/o his "specialnes" he's just a rookie senator with charisma.

McCain at least has a record.
