I would much rather die in a car crash than any plane crash. Atleast in a car crash you have a chance of it being instant. In a plane crash you have like 30 seconds before you know you're going to die. I've been in turbulance where the plane has dropped 10 feet, just dropped. everything went everywhere in the airplane. Ive also been on an plane while it was struck by lightning. All it did was make a loud POP and the lights briefly dimmed. Id much much much rather be in a car crash.

@ekim051084 LOL 10 feet dive? I was traveling to Australia in Singapore airlines in year 2000 and it took a full nose dive for couple of thousand feet. God knows what happened, but plane slowly regained the altitude after that. The pilots didn't say anything to the passengers but all of us knew something terrible had happened and we were about to crash.

If at jet liner, was to go into a nose dive, it would consume a considerable amount of altitude. Much more than 2k feet. Also, what would have possibly put the jet into a full nose dive? It would have been something bad enough to not be controlled until the plane was in the nose dive? What happened to all of the loose items floating about in the cabin in zero gravity? Was there an investigation conducted?

@ekim051084 By nose dive I don't mean it was going straight to the earth at 90 degrees angle. From a passenger's point of view, anything that makes you feel going down, is a nose dive. Not really sure but it was awkward like it was going 45 degrees towards ground. Anything, but it wasn't normal.

airplanes are safer, most of the accidents are caused by pilot error. here, the pilot pulled the yoke towards him (pitch up of the aircraft) when the plane initally stalled moderately due to ice on wings. He could have easily recovered from the stall if he pitched down (instead of pitch up) increased the throttle, and the copilot didn't turn on the flaps (that decreases airspeed for landing): in other words, if you are suffering from a stall close to the ground, ascend and attempt landing again.

Ok, so I keep hearing all this crap about terrorists and shoddy maintenance, well here's what probably happened... when a plane ices faster than the de-ice can work properly, it starts to stall, the autopilot automatically goes into a rapid descent to gain airspeed and prevent stalling, problem is, if they were only 6 miles from landing, they were only at a couple thousand feet, way to low for that kind of maneuver, so the pilot probably tried to pull out of it, and the plane finally stalled.

I´ve flown on American carriers and most crafts are very old rust buckets. All the undercutting in ticket prices has severely curbed their airlines from upgrading and servicing.

My conclusion is that they are related. I think this plane may have been hijacked or sabatoged in some way. The media seems to have reported very quickly that there was a 911 widow on this plane and that it would have been her husband's 58th birthday. I think this is the 'event' that the government was saying was going to happen.
