  • I did it without the balloon, i only did the cardboard part..

    It still looks amazing :)

I actually even did it with printer paper-

    Its a lot easier :)

    Thanks. <3

  • sparta is not medieval period, it's greek antiquity so before saying bullshit check at least wikipedia

  • nice!!!!

  • i think its iron :))

  • @SirMinecrafter1999 Its called patience

  • Dude you're EPIC!

  • Is there a way to make paper mache dry faster?

  • @SirMinecrafter1999 Point a fan at it. It will speed drying by a lot.

  • @SirMinecrafter1999 use a hair dry

  • THIS is madnes.

    No...THIS IS SPARTA!!!!

  • @FrozenKing142

    THIS is an OVERUSED QUOTE.

No...THIS IS...oh wait, it is overused.

  • People like this photo of costume of Spartans that we made and help us to win an award facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150358568222614&set=a.10150358559762614.299019.33305112613&type=1&permPage=1

  • do you pop the balloon after?

  • @PCEdbrooke Yes.

  • @xXNightmareStudiosxX You could use a sealer.Any kind should be fine.It stops the colour from smearing and the thing itself from peeling.

  • @epicfantasy If there are wrinkles on the helmet, does the sanding also removes the wrinkles on the helmet?

  • Hi Will. I finished my helmet but now its cracking and peeling off. At least three of the layers of papaer mache is coming off. Is this because i didnt paper mache it good enough? I was kind of rushed when i did it.

  • @xXNightmareStudiosxX hmmm, might be able to seal it with a coat of something.

  • The black and silver added a nice effect. It looks like it was used in battle and the black looks like the dirt.

  • @epicfantasy Can you paper mache the spartan helmet more than four coats?Because I'm planning to put five coats to make it a bit harder.

  • @300spartanswin yes, but how aabout a layer of cheese cloth in between. That might help a lot.

  • Could I modify this to become a Doctor Fate helmet?

  • @epicfantasy How did you get the nice shape of the neck guard at 6:09 ?While you had this shape at between 3:30 and 3:31.

  • @300spartanswin There is that extra piece at the neck that you tape on. Once you start paper macheing it you form it into shape.

  • Love you!

  • @epicfantasy Do you have to paper mache the inside of the helmet?

  • @300spartanswin no need to paper mache inside.

  • Comment removed

  • @epicfantasy Oh god! I put the paper mache on the baloon that sticked on to the top of the helmet. Is it still okay?

  • @300spartanswin i am not sure what you mean. send me a pic. This is all ok. Have fun. Make another if you need to!

  • @epicfantasy Do you have to put the strips of newspaper soaked in paper mache on the baloon and part of it is sticking to the helmet so it makes a round shape?

  • @300spartanswin yes, exactly right

  • How can you put the bristle on the helm? btw This really helped me! :D to think, I was worrying where to get a spartan outfit :) *subscribe*

  • Do you have any tips for the sanding/painting part? Should i buffer it somehow or put varnish on it? And should i use different spray paints?

  • How Big should the balloon be?

  • @MarbleHornetss Roughly the size of your head.

  • awesome :)

  • Hi!!! this helmet suits any head´s size???

  • do u pop the balloon after the paper mache dry?

  • @satio98 yes

  • I´d like to see you wearing whole spartan warrior costume. Browsed your web, but didn´t find photo... :-/

  • @Ozzoskop Thanks for browsing my site. Gave most of the stuff away though!

  • can somebody make a Leonidas's helmet (search on google!)

  • @MrThefreefly The leonidas helmet is the same as this. It just has a flourish on the top. You can use the bristles from a broom. I have some pics somewhere on my site

  • make a roman gladiator helmet liek the crazy hard ones

  • sparta guy

  • did u put paper mache in the inside

    plz reply back

  • @thekingofmonkeys1 no, not necessary. And a bit cleaner to just have the cardboard against your head.

  • If you decide to add the Mohawk, when would you recommend adding it? (If you were using a broom head that still had the trim around the bristles)

  • @miniwars123 after everything is painted and dry.

  • Nice! Have ever tried brown paper bags instead of news paper? It works very nice and VERY strong!

  • @carlitaelhada Great suggestion. I will probably try this in a future project. thx

  • Y don't u just use glue and water

  • thanks t your tutorials, me and 3 friends were able to create 4 spartan costumes for our schools halloween day, thanks man, you really helped us.

  • I likke the design. I am also modifying it to make a Doctor Fate helmet for Halloween

  • @CptBlueWolf Thats a cool helmet and a great idea. I looked that helmet up and it would be fun project.

  • medival helmet?

  • my mom through mine away...

  • my helmet gets really soggy while doing paper mache, and all the parts of it get weird shapes, please reply

  • @cooldude5227 YOu can use thicker cardboard or you can cover everything with masking tape. This will prevent it from getting soggy.

  • PLZ PLZ PLZ show me how to make a hannibal lector mask

  • MY HELMET FOR THE OCCUPY PROTEST!

  • how do you make the bristle like the one leonidas used

  • u do know that the spartans werent in the medieval age right????

  • Ive just started mine, so far so good , thank you so much for the tutorial!

Im going out for a massive fancy dress on Nov 5th so ill send some feedback through then!

    LOVE STORM THE CASTLE!

  • When your using Paper Mache the cardboard helmet gets wet and it is very flexible hard to have it still on the ground and its hard to have it on somekind of pole or manikin face cause of the balloon.

I used some wood to hold it still but i think it will take longer then 3 days i am really trying to get it right. Taking it easy and slow, by the way Nice tutorial good job.

I will upload the video once i am done with this! :)

  • kk mt lol

  • did you record this on a piece of toast ?

  • the thing you can do is to take this kind of design and make another kind of mask

  • Vince Vaughn?

  • Cheeros XD ROFL LOL

  • Dude I'm just saying u have a lil bit of growing up to do cause it like your making yourself a Halloween outfit but u are just plain AWESOME you rock

  • @cbkwwe So what dude hes showing us how to make it shut the fuck up

  • @cbkwwe I'm sorry, but, really? That's the most retarded comment I've ever read.

He's doing something he loves. It isn't childish to do that. Let alone, I'm sure he has a job and such.

Seriously, that just pisses me off.

  • @cbkwwe You're a fucking retard. In the pit with you.

  • how did you covered the bald

  • It is durable?

  • Comment removed

  • Thnx man, love ur vids they're really cool and helpful. Rock on dude :)

  • THIS IS SPARTA HELMET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this helmet is horrible

  • you should make a master chief helmet

  • Do you take out the baloon after

  • @KayKayComedy Yes, Just pop the balloon with a pin once everything is dry.

  • can you make a video of you wearing all the complete set of your spartan costume?

  • your videos are really good but its hard to see what your doing because the video is in like 10 fps...

  • do you need to blow the template on the website by a hundred percent or something???

  • @goldenstriker11 Been a while since I created this project. But I think you just have to make sure it prints at 100%. Should be good.

  • would using duct tape instead of masking tape mess it or would that work alright

  • @ComplexAssassin hmm, I think duct tape would work. Not positive though. Haven't tried it.

  • @ComplexAssassin Look at my vid response to this video its the only one. I used the template from this vid, put it together, and then put 2 layers of masking tape and then several of duck tape. It holds together nicely but I suggest you have a hot glue gun. It helps a lot. After use a lighter or the hot glue gun to melt the duke tape so its nice and it doesnt come off.

  • Even yellow balloons with spartan helmets are terrifying o.o

  • where did you get the idea of that?

  • Can I eat the helmet?

  • I admit I was skeptical of the idea of a cardboard spartan helmet but you really made it work. If I would like something different it would have to be the name (I thought this was the forging of an actual spartan helmet). One question "about how thick is the cardboard at 3-4 coats?". Once again good work.

  • @DeusPango Thanks, it gets to be pretty thick, maybe around 1/4 inch.

  • DO YOU DO LAIR??? LOL

  • it looks so real dude. good job

  • one of the things i like about you is that you are kind against everyone who comments on your videos.

  • @ShotgunzForever Thanks for watching my vids! Sometimes comments can be ridiculous. I don't take it personal. its just youtube silliness.

  • WARNING: THIS IS SPARTAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!! *KICK*

    *fall down a big pit*

  • oops wrong spartan xD

  • thanks man i only had one day to put a costume together and this was perfect its a really boring report and this helped out alot

  • damn someone made a spartan helmet for a museum using your idea he probley won 1st place i should of done that :/

  • For SPARTAAAA

  • why does the paper mache model look so much more realistic than the final model either eway just wanted to thank you for the instructions

  • Great job! Thank you for your instructions.

  • I just finish my spartan helmet based on your video and the only difference is that I added a black crest, and the result is awesome :D thanks great video by the way

  • @zerubong thanks and that crest must be great. I should have done that in the vid!

  • @zerubong How did you make the crest? Like, what material(s) and process?

  • @KevoD00d I used a broom that I bought at the market ant I glued it to the helmet once it's dry :D

  • Thank you, what a great home project for people who are interested in ancient civilization. My son is downstairs in the tool room with his father busy making a Spartan helmet instead of playing computer games and blowing up people on a computer. Great idea!

  • @bbrologa Thanks for the feedback. Spreading the simple fun of making things :)

  • be so sick to watch this high. 420.

  • Could you make a knight helmet using this tutorial if you'd make it slightly different? I wish I could show a picture of what I want to make.

  • @LittleBulleteye yes, absolutely! Just make it so it will still fit!

  • Thank you. I'm making this for a class play for greek mythology. I'm playing ares and im gonna use this. Its fifth grade so it dosent matter exactly. Thanks.

  • lol in the mall in my town they sell spartan helmets and shields and swords at a weapon rack XD

  • can u actually wear it???????????

  • Thank you so much I can use this for a school project!!!

  • how long it takes for the drying process ?

  • @AnticipatRECORDS It takes quite a while to dry. Overnight at least. You can speed it up with a fan.

  • @epicfantasy thanks ;)

  • Very ugly :)

  • @classified64 It looks better when you put my face in it

  • This is not a medieval helmet. It's a Classical Antiquity helmet.

  • @FenrirTheDarkWolf You are absolutely right! Thanks

  • @FenrirTheDarkWolf this is not a medieval helmet heck this is even a classical antiquity helmet THIS IS SPARTAAAA!!!

  • @FenrirTheDarkWolf this is spartaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • I have a question about making a crest for the helmet, now you say you can use a broom, but how would u get it to stay? would it just take a lot of paper mache on the top of the balloon? thx

  • @FishzHunter kind of difficult and I am not exactly sure, but I would add the broom after the whole helmet is done.

  • @FishzHunter

Easy if you thing about it. Hope I can make it without running out of space. Make templates for crest (Cut 6, following the template from congregated Cardboard). Make a shield for the front and back to cover the area when glued together. Paint the Crest and shields. Now, before you glue each glue in the bristles. Repeat till the backing plate is glued. Glue front and back shield. Guess you get the idea? If not get in touch!

  • No life much?

  • @MultiAREE WARNING: Your going to get a lot of hate.

  • @MultiAREE youre an ass.

  • @Faggotman1000 fail lol XD

  • This is spartan helmet :D

  • @SuperFATES1 lol!

  • LOCOOOOOOO

  • what could I do to make a crest for that helmet?

  • @DarknessNinja17 Find one of the plastic brooms with colorful bristles and use that.

  • Cool! Im going to have to try this along with the rest of it

  • Cool stuff, doesn't look like paper mache at all...hope you have/had a nice trip to Greece!!! - SpeedySpod from the UK
