One of the most memorable, if not the most by a goalie i've ever seen. Sitting in my dorm living room for the 1st night and meeting all my roomates for the 1st time, this is what was on. All we could do was shake our heads.
Two words: Mike Richter. However, the U.S. outplayed Canada in this one. What great chemistry they had in this one. No one can deny the depth of talent that Team Canada had in this event: guess that's what makes this win so special.
@ViaggioFM this was never robbery i think canada has one good team and their win in 2010 was good and i was still glad USA won sliver......Canada is great and there is no possibility that Canada would still win if they had Brodeur at goaltending.... USA already got this win and Canada got their win in 2010 fair and square and I have nothing aganist Team Canada
Sorry Americans, I have nothing against your team, but this was robbery. High sticks, skates in the crease, Little Gary's fingerprints were all over this series. Not as bad as the German referees in game 6 of the 72 series, but still bad enough. I wouldn't care so much if I hadn't been seven years old at the time and seriously traumatized by the loss, lol.
Sorry guy, get over it. The US one the first hockey WC. Believe me, if the US had the same pissing contest with Canada that Canada has with the US, I'm sure we would be neck and neck with you in hockey (ie, 2010 olympics)
@JohnQRandom Um, what? Not sure what you're trying to say here. Anyway, Hull's goal was knocked in with a high stick and Amonte kicked the puck in, not to say the US wouldn't have won anyway, as this was probably the strongest team they've ever iced (along with the '98 Olympics), but it was no un-disputable, clear-cut victory.
@ViaggioFM whether or not Hull touched the puck with a high stick cannot be proven from the replays available . . . only speculated. And Amonte's goal was absolutely legal--no way was that a kick.
Man, I remember I went to bed when Canada went up 2-1. I was laying there and was like, well I want to see what the trophy looks like when they award it. So glad I turned it back on.
It was a while ago, but I still remember clearly. I think it was the third period, Canada was 'putting on a clinic'...like playing against a bunch of junior B players. Gretzky, Lemeiux, Lindros, Messier, and other top Canadian players. But they proved themselves good at hitting the goalie's logo. It was a joke, and a very obvious example of a game being FIXED!!!!
"Shoeless Joe" back again, except not for mafia gambling, but for US glory. Don't comment unless you have alink to the whole game.
@JohnQRandom lol who cares if you won the first wc, the US international record against Canada is horrid, when was the last time you beat Canada at the olympics.
Awwwwwww, poor poor baby. Still dealing with the US winning the first WC on their home ice AND with 1/3 of the fans cheering for the Americans. This would be back when your inferiority complex didn't bar Americans from getting tickets as seen in the Vancouver olympics.
@JohnQRandom lmao bar you, haha, there were over 3 thousand Americans in the building in 2010, aww poor baby you must be frustrated Canada`s men and women beat you first in 2002 and then our men and women beat you again in 2010, aww don`t worry 1980 wasn`t that long ago, silvers still good! cheer up man. One day you`ll manage to beat us when it counts but for now your 2nd place, its just a game chill out bro lmao
Well sweetheart, like other Americans, I'm proud of our team, so I really don't see what you're telling me to "chill out" for. You contacted me first to vent your insecurities and lost dear. Also, 3,000 Americans in an arena that holds 20,000 and is located just on the other side of the border is very little. In any case, feel free to keep shooting your mouth off about how great you think Canada is, especially in the company of foreigners and we'll continue to snicker behind your backs. ;)
@JohnQRandom well i contacted you first because of your arrogant comments, fine with me i`ll snicker behind your back with my longer lifespan, cleaner cities, lower crime, less obesity, less gun crime, happier people, more natural resources, better world wide reputation, better overall education, healthcare etc etc, its okay it must hurt to not only be our bitch in hockey but to also have your country going down the tubes, yikes!
You are so Canadian it's not even funny. A longer life span? Exclude the life expectancy of folks in the ghgetto and we are even. Less obesity? You're a fat nation, so deal with it. Happier people? I doubt that conidering how insecure and miserable most of you sound. Health care? many Canadians come to the US for immediate medical assistance. Better education? Your think tank = your foreign population. I've been living abroad for 10 years now and people like me BECAUSE I'm American.
@JohnQRandom Well Canada is not a fat nation, ranked lower than your fat nation, Canada is always ranked among the happiest countries on earth, higher than you, hmm you left out crime, and dirty cities, wonder why,and its hilarious you`re a product of American media propoganda believing Canadians run south for healthcare, sure but only for face lifts lol 85% approval rate of our system bud, people like it. Canada has been ranked as having the best overall education in the english speaking world.
"Canada is always ranked among the happiest countries on earth."
You were saying something about propaganda? Seriously, the fact you actually buy into the idea of actually measuring a nation's happiness proves your naivety. Crime? more people usually means more crime. Dirty cities? We have more people, a larger GNP/GDP and therefore have more industry. The same can be said of China, India, Russia, and any other nation that doesn't depend on their neighbor to hold their hand (like yours).
@JohnQRandom Hold their hand lmao thats why Canada supplies the US with the majority of your energy, including oil, gas, uranium and electric power, hmm seems like the US needs us alot more then we need them, didn`t know that did you, how heavily the US realies on Canada to keep your country running, guess thats another product of poor American education, population is your excuse, then explain why China has a lower imprisonment and crime level than the US, even India.
The US has it's own resources but burns your to save our own. Oil for example. Between offshore drilling, Alaska and the oil in the contiguous US, we have enough to support ourselvs. The US doesn't get most of it's energy from Canada, and no, we don't get most of our "fresh water" from you either. This is your propaganda machine at its best sweetie. Now you are lloking for allies in China and India. I'm not sure what their crime rates are, I'll google them now.
"Actually you do get the majorty of your resources from Canada its in the CIA factbook."
Okay, what part of: **we - burn - yours - to - save - our - own** don't you understand. What else are you going to export?? It puts money in your pocket and helps us conserve our own resources. You are not as highly industrialized as the US, which explain your lower greenhouse emissions. Energy however is different, we don't get majority of it from Canada, nor fresh water.
Sorry my friend, but your list of "reasons I'm better than you" holds no water whatsoever. It is the primary reason why many of us belonging to the international community are stunned while sitting amongst a group of people in a bar, when out of no where a Canadian will abruptly start running their mouth as you did here. All I ask is please keep doing it. I'll gladly watch the US' politcal foul-ups take a back seat to your flag-waving arrogance. ; )
@JohnQRandom at the end of the day Canada is not the most loathed country on the planet, at the end of the day it the Americans stitching Canadian flags on their clothing pretending to be Americans which is sad to be honest. I`ve been around I`ll be honest in Europe, when I open my mouth they ask Canadian or American, once I say Canadian they are joyful and go on to say ah beautiful we love Canadians. But no I guess stats like crime, and obsity don`t hold water in the us, its all about war there.
The US isn't the most loathed country on the planet. As I said, I, and every American i have met while living abroad have been well liked BECAUSE we're American. In that time i have NEVER met even one American who sews the Canadian flag to their back packs. That my friend is your own propaganda. You came to this thread looking for trouble and to spew the same memorized bullshit you do to every other American you meet on youtube. I am using your comments in my upper level class.
I'm currently an English teacher (in Sanbon South Korea), and I will be cutting an pasting our exchange to use in my upper level class. Please keep replying and keep your comments free of vulgar words. Feel free to send me a message to my mail box, and by all means keep up the comments like:
"when I open my mouth I say I'm Canadian they are joyful and go on to say ah beautiful we love Canadians."
I can assure you, this sort of mentality isn't doing your image any favors.
@JohnQRandom Why are you not answering my questions, I said explain why the US has a higher crime level than China and India, and btw Its a known fact many Americans pretend to be Canadian when abroad, theres stories all over the internet on it I even came across some in Germany, I saw the flag went to make a convo with them, I asked hey where in Canada are you guys from, they responded nervously and said the southern part, lmao that along with their obvious southern states accent was enough lol
India currently tops the world in murder. China, despite having a no gun policy continues to see a rise in crime. You are running from one topic to the next. As most canadians do, you started out with hockey, then ran to health care and education, then natural resources, then sought help by comparing the US to China and India. Over all, your a fat country whose education system is boosted by your hand picked foreign population. Your insecurity is born to your inferiorty complex.
I can assure you, Americans do not pretend to be Canadian. I've covered 5 countries in 10 years and I have met hundreds of Americans. Not one has ever pretended to be otherwise, it is propaganda dear, nothing more. Seriously, the only ones who have ever given me a hard time abroad are about 1/3 of the Canadians I meet. This is what I mean by hurting your own international reputation. Many Aussies, Brits, Kiwis and other English teachers have noticed it. It's obnoxious.
@JohnQRandom Lol how many comments do you post, never argue with an idiot, they`ll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. On that note maybe you should grow up, for a so called english teacher you sure do need help on your grammer skills but anyways maybe you should watch this video and stop harrasing me with your superiority complex.
Sorry guy, but I'll take your last comment as a surrender. Now you're running to grammar? There is nothing wrong with my grammar dear and any typos or run on sentences are due to the fact that I have a class coming to my room in 54 minutes. You're the one flag-waving, boasting, bragging, accusing etc. I've not harrassed you, you've harrassed me. Defending myself and enlightening you is not a superiority complex. I've cut and pasted our entire exchange and have saved it to a word document.
@JohnQRandom Why do I get the impression you are actually a loser living in his moms basement, and please stop calling me dear and sweetie, its getting quite creepy, now copy and pasting all this lol wow, my no life alert just went off ringing. Not a surrender just me being the bigger person to end this sad situation you`ve created here, you see I dont have to time nor effort to argue with a blind arrogant American, whose to be quite honest proving all stereotypes of the arrogant im the best.
Then stop posting for christ's sake. You contacted me andI let you lead this entire conversation. I've done nothing but respond your arrogant claims. You've even posted: "Why aren't you answering my questions about China and India!!" So I respond, then you bitch about it.
I never made any claims about being the best. You on the other hand claim that when you travel abroad, people say: "AHHHH, BEAUTIFUL, WE LOVE CANADA" When you tell them where your from.
@JohnQRandom Don`t worry im mature enough to let you have the last word. lmao go on reply to this one aswell, but don`t expect a reply you`re boring me to be quite frank. Have a good life, and good luck, and don`t forget to copy paste this one too!
we're joyful and go onto say ah beautiful we love canadians? let's not get carried away here mate. i've had and still have loads of american mates and they're great friends. funny argument you two had here.
well it definitely takes two to tango as it seems you responded here with plenty of your own rhetoric. i've met plenty of canadians and i've had canadian friends aswell. most do go on a bit too much about canada vs usa thing. you'r neighbors mate there's no need to rant and rave.
@BradPittski Mate? I get the sense your not from this continent, anyways you`d undersand if you lived beside the most arrogant and ignorant country on earth. Have a nice day,and stop trying to pick a fight with me.
i'm from Leeds England and i'm not trying to fight with you. i'm simply saying that of all the north americans i've met in the past years i can only say that it is canadians who boast of where they're from, whinge about the u.s. and display their flag on their clothing. not to say i don't like canadians becasue i've had many friends from both countries but i've never heard any american mates of mine whinge about canada or boast about their homeland.
@BradPittski Your personal experiences ``mate`` I wouldn`t expect a man from England to know more about our neighbours than us ourselves, anyways told you not to try and fight with me, and thats exactly what your doing my continuing to message me, leave me alone and ps wtf is a guy from leeds doing watching a hockey video, don`t you have hundreds of videos to watch of England losing to Germany in soccer.
more whinging on your part. right mate, just remember that the u.s. is the number one tourist destination among canadians. with that i'll leave you under the impression that the world loves canada and lets out a big sigh of admiration whenever you mention you're canadian. just remember that you may in fact be damaging your own reputation.
@BradPittski Number 1 destination because our stronger dollar provides us with cheap meals and shopping lmao down there, lmao I told you to leave me alone yet you keep harassing me are you done yet?
the canadian dollar goes up and down against the u.s. dollar mate. and it would be by far stronger in mexico and the caribbean than the u.s. once you've dug yourself in a hole the idea is to stop digging. i'll leave it up to you to stop replying.
of course I will mate, you're much to fun to bully and embarrass. your own comments count against you, this is what i meant when i said you should stop digging. ;)
@BradPittski keep digging oo whats gonna happen to me im frightened, I knew you`d respond, lets pretend your a dog now shall we, I`ll throw this comment, and you`ll fetch it and respond back, ready go.
Uh, 2nd place in both 2002 and 2010 isn't exactly horrible. Not to mention the US EMBARRASSED Canada in 2010 by defeting them in the first game, and taking it to overtime in the second. And the Juniors?? It's your national sport, and we still manage to screw you over, LOL!
@JohnQRandom There's so much wrong with your statements, I'm not going to start. However clearly you not all that bright for hockey is't even you national sport. Also you country SUCKS and the world cup of baseball, losing to Japan every four years.
World Cup Baseball??? Do you honestly think the US fields their best players for that? Hardly. Whenever the World Series Champions go to Japan they pound the Japanese. The Red Sox cleaned them up a few years ago, and a majority of the players on the team were American. Nothing wrong with my statements darling.
everyone hates it when their yeam loses but canadians are the worst. they never can give credit when its due. now i finally know where crosby gets it from..
LOL thats fine! i was still a baby when this happend! and Canada already beat the U.S.A in hockey in the 2010 winter Olympics! lmao REVENGE ACHIEVED!!!!!!!!!
@MsGomez117 dude are you kidding? haha we beat some of the greatest players the game has ever seen and you are going to say revenge was achieved? Sorry no way in hell.
Hull? Parents immigrated to the US when he was 8, and the US is where he grew up (his brothers and sisters were born here as well.) Hard to believe you guys are still realing over this.
The interesting thing about th 1996 WC is that it was before the Great Canadian identity crisis. That is there were actually thousands of Americans who were sold tickets, Canadians didn't view it as a US invasion, and Celine Dion wasn't yet the be all and end all.
Does anyone else notice the Fan Whistle at 2:23? I think the players got a little sidetracked by it...cause they stopped skating for a second or so...
More idiocy: "You'll always dominate us except for 1996 when the absolute greatest Canadian hockey team of all time got their ass handed to them by the US."
Greatest team??? No Roy, Francis, Kariya, MacInnis, Lemieux....
Canada was basically missing its top line and you still only won thanks to Richter.
Ugh.... What a horrible memory this game was... This was far and away the most painful defeat I have ever witnessed as a fan... I was completely crushed by this loss... I can't even imagine what it was like for Team Canada... Even the glory of double olympic hockey gold for Canada in 2002 on Americain soil hasn't removed the tarnish from this bitter moment... on my home rink too...
We were beaten by the best... a salute to the the victor is offered. :|
@CHF2 was when we beat u in 2010 a fluke? we won in 1980 fair and square, u dont own us at anything, we can beat u at hockey anyday, USA hockey is better then its ever been
@CHF2 we beat sweden in world juniors. Sweden is garbage now, russia isnt as good. neither of them made it to gold. we beat canada once and lost once. we are in the same league, alot of canadians in british columbia say the same
@CHF2 Then blame the goal judge not USA. If it had been Canada you would have taking the gold. 1980 is far from a fluke. They were trained to beat the Soviets. They did just that.
@CHF2 Hey congratulations on beating the USA during our lowest point talent-wise since the 1980s. When the best played the best, we beat you. Gretzky, Messier, Yzerman, Coffey, Blake, Niedermayer, Shanahan, Sakic, Stevens. What, like 10 HoF players on the roster? You guys have been beating the US with what -- Brooks Orpik and Zach Parise? Wow, congrats.
And let's be honest, you were extremely lucky to beat the US in the Olympics in OT. US is closing the gap. You guys aren't that great.
@potsos Don't even start that shit you pretentious fuck. Kane, Kessel, Parise, Miller, Johnson x2, that team was great. All of those guys are young stars.
@geetarman13 Wow, you named 6 guys, perhaps 2 of which would even make Canada's roster. Compare this with Crosby, Nash, Iginla, Staal, Toews, Thorton, Richards, Brodeur and Luongo. Gimme a break. In 4 years, let's talk. You should have beaten the Americans by 5 in the finals but you didn't want it as bad and it showed. Extremely lucky to win that game as poorly as you played.
@potsos lol you obviously know nothing about hockey and the state of each countries young player development program, Canada - recently, Toews,Taveres,Stamkos,Seguin,Hall,Crosby,Eberle,Marchand,Doughty, both Schenns,Skinner, Canada is producing more top notch NHL caliber players than any other nation, even Russia is contributing more than the us, the next 1st round for next year is even going to be a Canadian, sorry you're not as great as you think, try baseball lmaoo
@potsos LOL do you really think Canadian are worried about our future in Hockey, lmao Hockey is in our blood, just like how its pretty much guarenteed than Brazil will always be a major power in soccer, there is currently even the CHL vs Russian selects super series going on right now in Canada comprised of young kids, what do you have lmao, how bout you match me a list of young up and coming players in the NHL that are american, compared to Canada, lol your a joke.
@iLuvBarRefaeli I'm not sure what mental handicap keeps you from comprehending that I am AGREEING that Canada has MORE skilled players than the US. Seriously, what's your fucking malfunction? As for the young players, the US has won 4 of the last 6 IIHF Under-18 World Championships, including 2009 and 2010. Canada has won once. Do I need to elaborate further, Cletus?
@potsos The fact you said that your catching up to Canada's skill is what makes me think you believe you are better, but in reality Canada will always dominate the us, thats the smartest thing you have said yet dick slob, lol i dont really recall the us winning anything in hockey compared to Canada, Canada has won the iihf tournament for 5 years in a row, and we are going to win the next one. In hockey the us is in the same league as switzerland, norway and maybe finland.
@iLuvBarRefaeli You'll always dominate us except for 1996 when the absolute greatest Canadian hockey team of all time got their ass handed to them by the US. Also, not that you haven't already proven to know nothing about hockey, but the last three winners of the IIHF world championships have been Czech, Russia, Russia. Why don't you come back when Canada has won half as many world hockey championships as Russia? Maybe in two or three decades you guys can say you're among the greats.
@potsos lol you call this game ``getting their ass handed to them`` lol sad world you live in, but i guess wins are rare for your country in hockey so i`ll let you have it lmao, and i was referring to the iihf world juniors, 5 straight golds, both men and women destroying the us in salt lake for the gold, and again in Vancouver, damn that must suck, and we`ll do it again in sochi, because Canada`s future in hockey is only getting brighter, you`d know that if u follow the NHL, Canada is the best.
@iLuvBarRefaeli Don't expect you guys to win in Sochi. Just because Canada is great at Hockey doesn't mean they wont lose. Look at the Gold game in Vancouver it was very close considering people thought the US didn't even have a chance to get the bronze. Anything can happen.
@Bigglestheman Well with all due respect, condsidering Canada is a major power in hockey and are always the favourites in any competition we enter I think Canadians have earned the right to say when we will and wont win.
@cousins4ever1 no that was the olympics of 1980 when we beat the soviet union. watch miracle it came out in 2004 you can download the torrent its really inspiring and its a true story.
It's Alright Canada, Congratulations USA, but if I may say...
Winning those Canada Cups, and from what I remember...
Canada in Men's and Women's hase taken 5 out of 6 possible Gold Medals, we have been in the World Junior Finals since 2002, winning 5 of those, USA has only won 2, and we have won the World Cup of Hockey and have been in the Finals for the World Hockey Championship 7 out of the last 9 years
@alextheyankeehater hey alex im glad the USA won this cup but i have much respect for Canada and there teams as an American id jut like to thank Canada for such a great Sport the USA And Canada have alot in common hers to a great future of hockey much love my Canadien friends
@kool1717 Thank You Sir, I do think many fans of Canada may argue with Americans, I do conflict with the ones that say their so much better than us because of one victory the thing I say is that you dominate in so many other sports so we like to think that we are dominant in Hockey, which has been proven over the last 40 years or so.
But I have so much respect for nice ones like you, I really do enjoy sportsmanship from great people like you Thank You Very Much and we are allies for Wars Thanks!
Is this the series where Mike Richter stood on his head the whole tourney and stole the World Championship for the American's???? Awesome goalie, no matter what country he's from. Hall of Famer for sure, if not already.
@harvestmoon8109 YOU SAID IT... Canada's Olympic Gold medal wins heavily and easily outweigh this tournament by a descent margin. 2002 in Salt Lake USA was great win but the 2010 Olympic gold was even sweeter seeing Parise sulkin glike a little baby that traitor.
I'm kind of suprised the USA hasn't beat us more. They always had great teams. I always loved the Canada USA showdown was always good drama. I'm glad Canada has won most of the time. The USA is getting better and better all the time, they'll beat us a the World Cup or the Olympics one of these days.
You've got your facts wrong. Lemieux pulled out of this tournament early on due to back problems, and did not play in most of the tournament including all 3 games against the US. In addition, Paul Kariya did NOT play in this tournament due to injuries. Remember he was one of the top forwards in the game in 1996.
Also, Ray Bourque and Patrick Roy took a pass on the tournament.
US was the better team here and both sides had all the stars they needed to win. In any case, the game is 14 years old, hard to believe Canadians still are losing sleep over it. LOL.
I'm gonna go against the grain on this and say only have a best on best at the Olympics every 4 years... This tournament has no momentum or tradition like say the Soccer World cup.
@BjGard This is because your brain is really small and your retarded. There used to be this thing called the Canada Cup. In 1991 they decided to change it to the world cup of hockey. Before 1998 NHL players could not play at the olympics. Thats why they had this Canada Cup every few years to have the elite players play. Maybe you should go research things before you make stupid comments.
@Alcan196 Your (not you're, which by the way means "you are") insult is lame and unintelligent. Go back to high school and retake English 10, if you ever graduate maybe you could get a job as a grunt in the army because they're (they are) always looking for guys without brains....you're (this time "you are") welcome for the advice and the free English lesson ;) When was the last world cup of Hockey? When was the World Cup of Hockey before that? How many countries give a shit about it?
@BjGard Cool I didnt use correct grammer on the internet. And still you dont know anything about the subject your talking about and thats the point I was trying to make and I made it.You're still a retard that has no idea at all about the current subject. All you did was comment on my grammer. Did you ever think I dont care if I have bad grammer on the internet?
this was an amazing tournament but the World Cup is a laughable joke! its every 4 or 5 or 8 or 7 years.. Many stars sit out and it just has no momentum... This was a shame because there was no Lemiew, Roy, Bourque or Kariya for Canada.. USA wanted this one more
Canada had all the stars they needed, they simply lost. Just like Canada had all the stars they needed for the olympics a few weeks ago, but they still barely got by a young American team. For Canada to lose in international hockey is one thing for Canadians, but to lose to "Americans" makes you guys freak because you feel as though you'v been raped of what little identity you have.
This game was by far more important for Canada than the States my friend, and you know it.
So you don't think Canada would have been stronger with Lemiex, Roy, Kariya, and Borque? I know the players and fans involved wanted it equally bad but the World Cup doesn't hold nearly the prestige as the Olympics. YES Canada wants to beat USA at at least one sport but the true rivalry is with the Russians... USA was given a very respectable ovation at both the qualification round game and gold medal games..And they were also cheered when not playing Canada
@BjGard Lemieux was in this series. And at this time Kariya wasin his second or third year in the NHL. Canada would had been stronger my ass, you guys got Messier, Gretzky, and Lemieux, also Sakic.
I love both these teams... OK!! But Mario was not in this tourney and I think USA had players that wanted this more than Canada because of how many players that chose to sit it out compared to all the Americans that were willing to go the extra mile.. Richter stole the show
You've got your facts wrong. Lemieux pulled out of this tournament early on due to back problems, and did not play in most of the tournament including all 3 games against the US. In addition, Paul Kariya did NOT play in this tournament due to injuries. Remember he was one of the top forwards in the game in 1996.

Having said that, Cujo was not a clutch goalie, Brodeur should have been playing.

@ViaggioFM
Sorry guy, get over it. The US one the first hockey WC. Believe me, if the US had the same pissing contest with Canada that Canada has with the US, I'm sure we would be neck and neck with you in hockey (ie, 2010 olympics)
JohnQRandom 4 months ago
@JohnQRandom Um, what? Not sure what you're trying to say here. Anyway, Hull's goal was knocked in with a high stick and Amonte kicked the puck in, not to say the US wouldn't have won anyway, as this was probably the strongest team they've ever iced (along with the '98 Olympics), but it was no un-disputable, clear-cut victory.
ViaggioFM 4 months ago
@ViaggioFM whether or not Hull touched the puck with a high stick cannot be proven from the replays available . . . only speculated. And Amonte's goal was absolutely legal--no way was that a kick.

BostonCreamDonut 1 month ago
@BostonCreamDonut
Awwwwwww, poor poor baby. Still dealing with the US winning the first WC on their home ice AND with 1/3 of the fans cheering for the Americans. This would be back when your inferiority complex didn't bar Americans from getting tickets as seen in the Vancouver olympics.
JohnQRandom 1 month ago
@JohnQRandom lmao bar you, haha, there were over 3 thousand Americans in the building in 2010, aww poor baby you must be frustrated Canada`s men and women beat you first in 2002 and then our men and women beat you again in 2010, aww don`t worry 1980 wasn`t that long ago, silvers still good! cheer up man. One day you`ll manage to beat us when it counts but for now your 2nd place, its just a game chill out bro lmao
BostonCreamDonut 1 month ago
Well sweetheart, like other Americans, I'm proud of our team, so I really don't see what you're telling me to "chill out" for. You contacted me first to vent your insecurities and lost dear. Also, 3,000 Americans in an arena that holds 20,000 and is located just on the other side of the border is very little. In any case, feel free to keep shooting your mouth off about how great you think Canada is, especially in the company of foreigners and we'll continue to snicker behind your backs. ;)
JohnQRandom 1 month ago
@JohnQRandom well i contacted you first because of your arrogant comments, fine with me i`ll snicker behind your back with my longer lifespan, cleaner cities, lower crime, less obesity, less gun crime, happier people, more natural resources, better world wide reputation, better overall education, healthcare etc etc, its okay it must hurt to not only be our bitch in hockey but to also have your country going down the tubes, yikes!
BostonCreamDonut 1 month ago
You are so Canadian it's not even funny. A longer life span? Exclude the life expectancy of folks in the ghgetto and we are even. Less obesity? You're a fat nation, so deal with it. Happier people? I doubt that conidering how insecure and miserable most of you sound. Health care? many Canadians come to the US for immediate medical assistance. Better education? Your think tank = your foreign population. I've been living abroad for 10 years now and people like me BECAUSE I'm American.
JohnQRandom 1 month ago
@JohnQRandom Well Canada is not a fat nation, ranked lower than your fat nation, Canada is always ranked among the happiest countries on earth, higher than you, hmm you left out crime, and dirty cities, wonder why,and its hilarious you`re a product of American media propoganda believing Canadians run south for healthcare, sure but only for face lifts lol 85% approval rate of our system bud, people like it. Canada has been ranked as having the best overall education in the english speaking world.
BostonCreamDonut 1 month ago
"Canada is always ranked among the happiest countries on earth."
You were saying something about propaganda? Seriously, the fact you actually buy into the idea of actually measuring a nation's happiness proves your naivety. Crime? more people usually means more crime. Dirty cities? We have more people, a larger GNP/GDP and therefore have more industry. The same can be said of China, India, Russia, and any other nation that doesn't depend on their neighbor to hold their hand (like yours).
JohnQRandom 1 month ago
@JohnQRandom Hold their hand lmao thats why Canada supplies the US with the majority of your energy, including oil, gas, uranium and electric power, hmm seems like the US needs us alot more then we need them, didn`t know that did you, how heavily the US realies on Canada to keep your country running, guess thats another product of poor American education, population is your excuse, then explain why China has a lower imprisonment and crime level than the US, even India.
BostonCreamDonut 1 month ago
The US has it's own resources but burns your to save our own. Oil for example. Between offshore drilling, Alaska and the oil in the contiguous US, we have enough to support ourselvs. The US doesn't get most of it's energy from Canada, and no, we don't get most of our "fresh water" from you either. This is your propaganda machine at its best sweetie. Now you are lloking for allies in China and India. I'm not sure what their crime rates are, I'll google them now.

JohnQRandom 1 month ago
@BostonCreamDonut
I'll gladly watch the US' politcal foul-ups take a back seat to your flag-waving arrogance. ; )
JohnQRandom 1 month ago
@JohnQRandom at the end of the day Canada is not the most loathed country on the planet, at the end of the day it the Americans stitching Canadian flags on their clothing pretending to be Americans which is sad to be honest. I`ve been around I`ll be honest in Europe, when I open my mouth they ask Canadian or American, once I say Canadian they are joyful and go on to say ah beautiful we love Canadians. But no I guess stats like crime, and obsity don`t hold water in the us, its all about war there.
BostonCreamDonut 1 month ago
The US isn't the most loathed country on the planet. As I said, I, and every American i have met while living abroad have been well liked BECAUSE we're American. In that time i have NEVER met even one American who sews the Canadian flag to their back packs. That my friend is your own propaganda. You came to this thread looking for trouble and to spew the same memorized bullshit you do to every other American you meet on youtube. I am using your comments in my upper level class.
JohnQRandom 1 month ago
I'm currently an English teacher (in Sanbon South Korea), and I will be cutting an pasting our exchange to use in my upper level class. Please keep replying and keep your comments free of vulgar words. Feel free to send me a message to my mail box, and by all means keep up the comments like:
"when I open my mouth I say I'm Canadian they are joyful and go on to say ah beautiful we love Canadians."
I can assure you, this sort of mentality isn't doing your image any favors.
JohnQRandom 1 month ago
@JohnQRandom Why are you not answering my questions, I said explain why the US has a higher crime level than China and India, and btw Its a known fact many Americans pretend to be Canadian when abroad, theres stories all over the internet on it I even came across some in Germany, I saw the flag went to make a convo with them, I asked hey where in Canada are you guys from, they responded nervously and said the southern part, lmao that along with their obvious southern states accent was enough lol
BostonCreamDonut 1 month ago
India currently tops the world in murder. China, despite having a no gun policy continues to see a rise in crime. You are running from one topic to the next. As most canadians do, you started out with hockey, then ran to health care and education, then natural resources, then sought help by comparing the US to China and India. Over all, your a fat country whose education system is boosted by your hand picked foreign population. Your insecurity is born to your inferiorty complex.
JohnQRandom 1 month ago
@BostonCreamDonut
JohnQRandom 1 month ago
@JohnQRandom Lol how many comments do you post, never argue with an idiot, they`ll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. On that note maybe you should grow up, for a so called english teacher you sure do need help on your grammer skills but anyways maybe you should watch this video and stop harrasing me with your superiority complex.
BostonCreamDonut 1 month ago
Sorry guy, but I'll take your last comment as a surrender. Now you're running to grammar? There is nothing wrong with my grammar dear and any typos or run on sentences are due to the fact that I have a class coming to my room in 54 minutes. You're the one flag-waving, boasting, bragging, accusing etc. I've not harrassed you, you've harrassed me. Defending myself and enlightening you is not a superiority complex. I've cut and pasted our entire exchange and have saved it to a word document.

BostonCreamDonut 1 month ago
Then stop posting for christ's sake. You contacted me andI let you lead this entire conversation. I've done nothing but respond your arrogant claims. You've even posted: "Why aren't you answering my questions about China and India!!" So I respond, then you bitch about it.

SpencerBetzvog 1 year ago
@SpencerBetzvog
USA has won two golds since 1996 (both juniors). Canada has 5 golds, 2 olympics, 1 world cup and 4 world titles in the same time.
Yes USA hockey is better than its ever been - but its still not in the same league as Canada, Russia or even Sweden.
CHF2 1 year ago
@CHF2 we beat sweden in world juniors. Sweden is garbage now, russia isnt as good. neither of them made it to gold. we beat canada once and lost once. we are in the same league, alot of canadians in british columbia say the same

@SpencerBetzvog
1980 was fair and square but it was still a fluke. Team USA didn't beat the USSR again until 1991, usually losing by 5 or 6 goals.
It's not called a "miracle" for nothing.
CHF2 1 year ago
@CHF2 U say it was a fluke cuz canada lost to Russia in the olympics in 1980.
its called a miracle cuz the Russians were undefeated for past 3 olympics and nobody could beat them but we did

You guys aren't that great.

geetarman13 1 year ago
@geetarman13 Wow, you named 6 guys, perhaps 2 of which would even make Canada's roster. Compare this with Crosby, Nash, Iginla, Staal, Toews, Thorton, Richards, Brodeur and Luongo. Gimme a break. In 4 years, let's talk. You should have beaten the Americans by 5 in the finals but you didn't want it as bad and it showed. Extremely lucky to win that game as poorly as you played.

iLuvBarRefaeli 1 year ago
@iLuvBarRefaeli And let's talk about young development. How's that under-18 Canadian squad coming along?
potsos 1 year ago
@potsos LOL do you really think Canadian are worried about our future in Hockey, lmao Hockey is in our blood, just like how its pretty much guarenteed than Brazil will always be a major power in soccer, there is currently even the CHL vs Russian selects super series going on right now in Canada comprised of young kids, what do you have lmao, how bout you match me a list of young up and coming players in the NHL that are american, compared to Canada, lol your a joke.
iLuvBarRefaeli 1 year ago
@iLuvBarRefaeli I'm not sure what mental handicap keeps you from comprehending that I am AGREEING that Canada has MORE skilled players than the US. Seriously, what's your fucking malfunction? As for the young players, the US has won 4 of the last 6 IIHF Under-18 World Championships, including 2009 and 2010. Canada has won once. Do I need to elaborate further, Cletus?
potsos 1 year ago
@potsos The fact you said that your catching up to Canada's skill is what makes me think you believe you are better, but in reality Canada will always dominate the us, thats the smartest thing you have said yet dick slob, lol i dont really recall the us winning anything in hockey compared to Canada, Canada has won the iihf tournament for 5 years in a row, and we are going to win the next one. In hockey the us is in the same league as switzerland, norway and maybe finland.
iLuvBarRefaeli 1 year ago
@iLuvBarRefaeli You'll always dominate us except for 1996 when the absolute greatest Canadian hockey team of all time got their ass handed to them by the US. Also, not that you haven't already proven to know nothing about hockey, but the last three winners of the IIHF world championships have been Czech, Russia, Russia. Why don't you come back when Canada has won half as many world hockey championships as Russia? Maybe in two or three decades you guys can say you're among the greats.

BjGard 1 year ago
@BjGard This is because your brain is really small and your retarded. There used to be this thing called the Canada Cup. In 1991 they decided to change it to the world cup of hockey. Before 1998 NHL players could not play at the olympics. Thats why they had this Canada Cup every few years to have the elite players play. Maybe you should go research things before you make stupid comments.

@Alcan196 sorry in 1996 not 19991

USA wanted this one more
BjGard 1 year ago

BjGard 1 year ago
@BjGard Lemieux was in this series. And at this time Kariya wasin his second or third year in the NHL. Canada would had been stronger my ass, you guys got Messier, Gretzky, and Lemieux, also Sakic.

I love both these teams... OK!! But Mario was not in this tourney and I think USA had players that wanted this more than Canada because of how many players that chose to sit it out compared to all the Americans that were willing to go the extra mile.. Richter stole the show

Mario was in this tourney.Listen to the commentators from 4:02 to 4:09

Richter was unbelievable in this game. I wish this clip had some of the saves he made. This was the best single game I have ever seen a goalie play.
