  • my pony has a locking stifle it isnt bad tho luckly. you can have a small opperation in the field where they cut the tendon but the horse will be out of work for 6 months and has to be carefully they do..

  • One of my hackneys had this problem, very common in the breed.Ask your vet to carry out a simple operation to make a cut in the patella, the ligament that locks the legs while standing at rest.Don't worry he won't fall over, they adapt quite well. Makes life much easier for them, and pain free.Work doesn't fix it,,it happens because the ligament doesn't sit in the correct place.

  • When my horses stifle locked up she had to get injections. And she hasn't had this problem again.

  • how did you help this horse's stifle?

  • my horse has a tricky stifle too its actually the same leg, i would have your veteranarian come out to tell you what course to take, mine has actually developed a stringhalt because of the locking patella

  • well its is very painfull to lift the leg when they have stifle problems thats sad :(

  • Could have an ocd in the stifle

  • Lots and Lots of up hill work, so.....pick a nice steep hill star slow and work your way up to cantering up the hill to strengthen the muscles.

It has worked for quite a few horses here where i am in aussie.

  • my friend has a horse with the same problem. I herd that if you back the horse up in a straight line it will help relieve the lock.
