First heard him in the 90s as a kid when my mom plays his songs in the car. Not to mention the disney songs he sang and I loved him ever since. He's my fave male singer as anita baker is my fave female one.

My wife turned me on to this tune years ago. Truly one of the best tunes ever laid onto a piece of rust covered polyester.

If you try to buy this on CD or on Rhino lossless downloads be careful. The version on Bedroom Classics is the album version with the long intro but for some reason it's mono. The Rhino lossless download version is mono too.

We lost Peabo Bryson a few years back... but I still hear him cheer my heart up every once in a while. What a voice! I still believe our current talent can sing the same way, they just can't be bothered though... what a shame.

Just for the record this song has an interesting history. It was originally supposed to be a duet with Peabo & Anita Baker, but that became problematic & Regina Belle came in at the last minute & did a wonderful job. The song was written by Lamont Dozier, (who I promised to do a good job on his tune), and my good buddies Steve Ferrone on drums & Anthony Jackson on bass laid a solid foundation. The sound around 3:45 is a guitar solo by Michael J. Powell that he played a harmony too.

This song is gorgeous and was the introduction of this duo to lite stations back in 1988, long before A WHOLE NEW WORLD. Fans of this great combo will also like a track from Peabo's CAN YOU STOP THE RAIN LP called I JUST CAN'T IMAGINE. Anyway, WITHOUT YOU is gorgeous and geniously arranged and produced...where in today's music can you hear an instrumental bridge like that starting at 3:30????

This 1987 love song is definitely one of my favorites from the 80's, they both had an amazing chemistry doing this song together, I'm sure that can be attributed to the pure talent as singers that they both possess. I actually like this one better than their signature duet "A Whole New World", and after over two decades, this one hasn't lost any luster, two great singers, with a timeless recording...
