I knew I heard this on a movie just couldn't remember which one. This movie has the best best ending as this song starts playing as as Bill Cosby's wife (in the movie) just start dumping a plat of spaghetti on him. LOVE THIS SONG :D
First heard him in the 90s as a kid when my mom plays his songs in the car. Not to mention the disney songs he sang and I loved him ever since. He's my fave male singer as anita baker is my fave female one.
My wife turned me on to this tune years ago. Truly one of the best tunes ever laid onto a piece of rust covered polyester.
If you try to buy this on CD or on Rhino lossless downloads be careful. The version on Bedroom Classics is the album version with the long intro but for some reason it's mono. The Rhino lossless download version is mono too.
If you don't mind the sound of a mangled MP3 then the Amazon version is stereo, the album version and it's coded at 256kbit/s.
We lost Peabo Bryson a few years back... but I still hear him cheer my heart up every once in a while. What a voice! I still believe our current talent can sing the same way, they just can't be bothered though... what a shame.
@shstrang98 My bad, I get these guy's names mixed up. Yes! Luther! Luther! Sometimes I get carried away listening to these songs and I don't pay much attention to what I write. Thanks for the heads up. Since I got your attention, Donny Hathaway or Luther? Who had a better voice? Say Donny.
April- May 1988. start of a very hot summer. the hottest summer i ever lived through. i'm glad she did adult comtemporary music like this too instead of limiting herself to being an urban artist.
yet another time of my life where there were so many good things to enjoy but i did not enjoy those good things to the fullest extent and was concerned or bogged down by things that did not matter in the long run.
S U P E R B!!...only one comment. Just wish the ending harmonizing note wasn't cut off. Other than that, its one of the BEST duets of all time. Thank u for posting.
Thanks for posting, always loved this song but you just never hear it at all and Peabo and Regina are just fabulous together, and the music is fantastic.
Gone are the days of true music that embraces and elevates the human spirit. When music celebrates love and being with each other in total abundant. No, no.. I am not speaking of the stalker kind of abundant :-)
This is one of the best songs ever Thanks to the great sound of Peabo Bryson and one of the best vocalist of all time Regina Belle they always sounds so good together. Thank u 4 posting this song big tune!!!! I dedicate this song to the love of my life Fletcher u complete me.
Just for the record this song has an interesting history. It was originally supposed to be a duet with Peabo & Anita Baker, but that became problematic & Regina Belle came in at the last minute & did a wonderful job. The song was written by Lamont Dozier, (who I promised to do a good job on his tune), and my good buddies Steve Ferrone on drums & Anthony Jackson on bass laid a solid foundation. The sound around 3:45 is a guitar solo by Michael J. Powell that he played a harmony too.
@sirgant You're Gr8 for that ! I like that story. You WORKED ON THE POSITIVE RECORD? How awesome. Yea I'm aware of S. Ferrone and A. Jackson. Especially Ferrone. He's on EVERYTHING Old !
I Knew Lamant penned the song, but I did not know that about Anita Baker. Ya know..It'd be more memorable had she sang along side Bryson - it might be on one of those commercials at night for all the classic hits, or maybe it'd be on quiet storms around the world, but it would not be as Good as this w/Regina
Quality, quality, quality stuff!!!!! Only 8,909 views as of today!!!! What a shame!!! This song is gorgeous and was the introduction of this duo to lite stations back in 1988, long before A WHOLE NEW WORLD. Fans of this great combo will also like a track from Peabo's CAN YOU STOP THE RAIN LP called I JUST CAN'T IMAGINE. Anyway, WITHOUT YOU is gorgeous and geniously arranged and produced...where in today's music can you hear an instrumental bridge like that starting at 3:30????
@MrChicago891 Hello Mr. Chicago, now up to 63,000 views! What a great song!! I remember this song from back in 88 when I was in college. Great duo of Peabo & Regina Belle!! The move sucked, but this song made up for the storyline!! I've been looking for this song for a long time. I'm glad somebody finally posted it so that everyone can enjoy it as well! 2 great cities ( Pittsburgh & Chicago ) & two great musicians!! Peace my friend.
Yeah, the movie was very cheesy, but this tune at the end of movie made it worth the wait. Really a slick, smooth jam that should never be allowed to fall through the cracks.
saw the film a couple of weeks ago, it WAS terrible! the more i get away from it, the stronger i dislike it because i realize what a huge waste of life and time that it was for me and my friend who could have been doing one of a million other better things instead! i still think that this song is terrific and i still love it, but it really got SCREWED by being made for a movie like that!
This 1987 love song is definitely one of my favorites from the 80's, they both had an amazing chemistry doing this song together, I'm sure that can be attributed to the pure talent as singers that they both possess. I actually like this one better than their signature duet "A Whole New World", and after over two decades, this one hasn't lost any luster, two great singers, with a timeless recording...
This song is so beautiful; the first time I heard it online, I cried. Listen to the words in this song; talk about a great love song. This song is one of Peabo's best, in my opinion.
