The i7 also generates 40% more heat over the i5, translateing to even more power required for active heatsinks. Overall the the i7's mobiles are not worth using in non-desktop replacements, the second you unplug it from the power brick the CPU is going to automaticly underclock by 30% to 40%.

I have this laptop. I am very pleased with its performance but really hate where they placed all the peripheral plug-ins (eSATA, HDMI, USB, Network). All on the right side. This laptop was made for left handed people!!!

The laptop runs HOT all the time. If you do anything CPU intensive the fans light up and sounds like the laptop is about to take off. The power supply is a BRICK!! The laptop has no battery life maybe 45 min.

Save your money and wait for the next generation.

you can hackintosh the 1st gen envys.... so in total, it shits on ALL MBP you can think of... it has more grunt (i7 QUADS, not just it i620m mac uses) and the gpu is YEARS ahead of any mbp (gt330m lol).... mac better os? well you can run mac os X on envys

Regarding the "omg no CD drive? WTF?" statements, I really haven't used the superdrive in my MacBook in months. Nowadays, anything you really need one for can be done wirelessly (for software and such) and, if you really need it, there is an optional DVD and Blu-Ray drive for this at HP's store anyway so you're not totally screwed. 2 years ago, the lack of cd drive would have killed a purchase of this but now, I don't really even see the need for one anymore, at least not for one in the laptop.

Is a nice laptop but there are bad sides too. For example, that extra battery he talks about, makes the laptop heavy as hell, like a macbook it dosen't come with optical drive, it only has 2 usb ports, it only comes in that one color you see, it gets really fucking hot when you run it for 2 hours and the damn thing costs $ 2,000.00 at best buy anywere. I'm not even joking about the temp, yea the computer doesn't get too hot to the touch but inside is the temp you could boil water. If you can live without the DVD drive built in, I would get the Envy 15. It actually does not weigh as much as it looks (at least to me) and it actually has high specs, although honestly that's what you're paying so much for. I'm assuming you won't be using it for gaming, although the graphics ship can actually handle most modern games.

personally i thought this was going to be a good alternative to the macbook for gaming, as i want something that is as good looking as the macbook and with similar features, but something that can play all the pc games i love. However when it came out, it is MORE expensive than the macbook in my country and it has no internal disc drive. It comes with one externally. Besides if you're the type of person who doesn't use your optical drive on a daily basis, this is not a big deal. If you constantly use it, than you might want to consider something that suits your needs. Overall, this laptop is a mobile, thin 'n' light, powerhouse hands down. Ok...I take back the apple parasite comment, if aren't one. But, if I don't use it as much as someone who constantly uses theirs on a daily basis, then it's not a big deal. If I burn an ISO or torrent, fine I need it. But if I don't do one of these things, the optical drive sits there empty. So why make a comment that is based on your needs if the optical drive is so important to you? It might not be so important for others.
