0:05 was shot in front of my house :) I thought it was hilarious seeing that they needed 20 - 30 people on the film crew there just to take a few seconds of footage of a boat getting hauled up the ramp.
I watch this often to remind myself of the incredible art that is Newfoundland. I never take for granted its beauty, but we sometimes forget that the beauty from everyday sights and sounds actually creates ART.
Oh, and my house is shown at 0:46 but my hometown is Ferryland (@TampaRed, @HarryBryan1)
I will be visiting newfoundland in october. Can anyone tell me if there are any sites to see in Grand Bank, for I will most likely be visiting some relatives there. So I was wondering if there was anything to do there?
I am planning on goin to newfoundland in october. Can anyone out there tell me if if there are any sites to see in Grand Bank? For i will motly likely be visiting reletives there.
Is it my imagination or was that Jenny Gear standing in the doorway of one of the houses? It was a little too quick to tell. This ad is a work of art... love it. It's also very true. It makes me miss the fog, late afternoon golden light, painted houses and some of the warmest people in Canada.
btw. If anyone plans on visiting save your ticket stubs from the LSPU and drinks are half price at the ship inn, or at least they were. It's been too long since I was there.
Newfoundland commercials always bring me pride. Especially this one. It has quite a bit of St.John's in it, which is my home town. I recognized a lot of what I saw and it made me incredibly happy to see. I think you would travel the world, yet would never find a place quite as interesting and radiant as Newfoundland and Labrador.
i am a newfie and i am proud of it..... I went away last year for work i was only in ontario for 4 months and i was watching this video and it made me miss newfoundland so i packed up my stuff and headed back to the rock there is nothing better then this place:)
@ 0:09 there is a short clip of an adult and a child standing on a wharf/stage/dock (whatever you like to call it) this is Raleigh, Newfoundland, the place where i was born and raised, this particular stage is in my backyard, no joke, directly in front of this is a road, on the other side of the road is where i lived for years:) i consider myself lucky to have grwn up in a place with such vast beauty
For years now my opinion has been Newfoundland and Labrador have the best commercials on TV.
We've only been to Newfoundland and Labrador 4 times but we leave in 14 days to find a house and move there. We'll be sad to leave our friends in Ontario but we're really looking forward to living in this beautiful province in our beautiful country.
@vintagedesert - It's going very well. We're loving it here. The scenery and the people and compared to a lot of the rest of the country and the U.S. seaboard the weather are all great too! We've already met a number of people from South Carolina who summer here and a few from the Boston area who moved here year round a number of years ago. I can't say everyone would love it here especially those who have a penchant for big cities but it's good for us right now.
@vintagedesert We have everything you need, supermarkets, fresh blueberries in agusut, cornor stores, all the things to live a life. We have basic luxuaries, like salons, and everything you could ;possibly need
but if you move to newfoundland you gotta remember that it's more nature like. I live in the capaital city where its the most urban lifestyle but nooneless it could never compare to new york city.
I there I was wondering if you could tell me the names of places in these commercials. I am planning on staying here in Newfoundland for a few months and would love to tour all these places.
@Stouters61 :-) this IS what I wake up to every morning. I have been here 2 years now and look forward to spending the rest of my life here. I have lived across this amazing country but my home is in Newfoundland.
@HalifaxHercules meh st johns isnt that great ive lived here my whole life and it's really beginning to become full of drugs and crime!!! the rest of newfoundland is amazing though!!!!
The music and images are married perfectly fo each other, nice commercial for a change. Makes me want to visit which I quess was the whole point. I can always tell when a commercial is well done when my two little boys stop playing or fighting briefly to watch. Soon as it's over their back at it.
Awesome. Probably the best NL tourism video I have ever seen. I think it is because while the nature and culture/heritage are certainly in the background, it really emphasizes the people which is what sets it apart.
@nankypooh you hit it on the nail!!!! ive travelled all over this world yet the only spot someone says thank you if you hold a door open for them is right here at home in newfoundland!!!

@HarryBryan1 Despite my username (which is the name of an old Bluesman) I'm from Carbonear in Conception Bay North. Lovely spot, too.

@TampaRed We looked around there as well - actually from Ferryland to Twillingate. The one we got was the one my wife liked best. Typical.

I remember sitting in his office watching him cut the clip with the boat being hauled up the dock.
These commercials perfectly describe the feelings I have towards my home. I want to go back so badly.

I'm originally from Nova Scotia, but now call Newfoundland home.
The province is definitely beautiful, especially in Western Newfoundland, and the culture and accents are unique to the rest of Canada.
Definitely love the new provincial government watermark as it has a Celtic look to it.
As for the tourism videos, Gros Morne National Park and Viking Settlement both situated in the Northern Peninsula are definitely the best.
