no engine starts from cold on first pull like that, the first pull usually doesn't fire as all it manages to do is pull fuel/air mix into the crankcase. stop editing videos like that and be more honest about it all
You know what, I'm glad some people prefer Stihl, okay? But you Stihl loving folks do not need to go as far as to tell me that Echo is Junk when my dad and I struggle every time to start the stupid MS-280 while I used just yesterday my 15 year old Echo trimmer! To be honest, once we get the chain saw going, I like it. I'll buy Stihl for their chainsaws, but nothing else. Now, enough of the dropping the F bomb on other people because they prefer other companies that Stihl.
i have new redmand new sthil and redmax and echo, redmax started first. I'm not complaining all about personal preferencei i personally am a redmax guy. To eaches own.
I do this type of work for a living (LCO). I've tried about everything through company demos, and ownership. I prefer Stihl trimmers. Why? Because that's just what I prefer and have had the best luck with. I have a Redmax, Shindaiwa, Echo, Robin, Husky, and Stihl dealers within minutes of one another and I still choose Stihl. Now, is that to say there is anything wrong with the rest of the brands? No. Folks if you can get a piece of equipment to fire off within 4-5 pulls...who cares really?
What year is that Red Max?? The Red Max looks used and worked hard. That Stihl looks like its been rolling around in the back of a pick up for 10 years waiting for the Red Max to finally let go.
Your technique for pushing the primer bulb on the Redmax is wrong! You pushed it sort of sideways, only half way in each time because of the position your hand was in with the bulb on the bottom. On the Stihl you clearly pushed the bulb further in.
What is obvious? Due to insufficient priming you have to crank it a few more times to get the same amount of fuel into the engine.
User error. Otherwise, who gives a frack whether it takes 3 pulls on any of these at 30F when it takes 5 seconds?
I have echo, stihl, and redmax. Redmax rules. Most of equipment is echo. Kick ass also. And haven't gotten stihl chainsaw to work. Tired of messing with it.
@shihtalker I most likely would have gotten a STIHL if they wernt so costly. I do not like the sound of the STIHL but i do know that they are powerful and high quality prouducts. I just couldnt justify the extra cost.
stihl makes great products my dad had one that was one that was over 20 years old never did any maintanence on it ran all the way up to recently i now have an fs45 its kinda tempermental
Yep, @ 3:25 it cut out and gave him a chance to do the standard Stihl owner starting procedure; set choke, pull once, twice, three times, four (was that a sputter?), switch to half choke, pull, again, cuss, pull, sputter-sputter-sputter-sputter-die.
at 3:25 you can see the vid cutting off to make it look like the stli won :P wow man you must advertise alot of stlis (typo) be fair man dont be like that... bastard
this guy is as full as shit as a overflowing porta poty. red max is by far the best quality and echo is way better then stihl. i have been in the lawncare business for a long time now and my red maxes and echos last way longer then my sthils.
All small engines(2 or 4 stroke)should start 2 or 3 pulls from cold on tickover. That is the acid test to determine how good a condition the engine is in.Poor quality oil, incorrect mix and revving from cold all contribute to poor starting over time.
I could set a cheap new Ryobi to start and run as clean as any new Stihl or Husky. But put them to work and see how long the tune lasts on a cheap saw(cheap carbs).Modern 2 stroke tech.is virtually infallable, its down to how you treat it!
not shure why people always hold the throttle all the way up. i mean you dont do that with your cardo ya? i always get it on the 1st pull if i dont have the throttle all the way up lol, cool vid though =) 5/5!
I used to have a craftsman... let me re-state I used to have some craftsman trimmers.. died on me all the time. I got the Stihl FS110.. OMG. I wonder why I bought so much crappy trimmers before.
Stihl makes a good product but im not sold on the 4Mix thing. The new Stihl trimmers cost nearly 500 dollars for the best ones and they require constant valve adjustments. Plus their exhaust has a pungent smell that'll bite ur nostrils, i use them at work quite frequently. I prefer the 10 year old FS85's we have.
Outdated Redmax? Who gives a Turkey? I have a Stihl FS 85 that's 11 years old, always starts in 2 pulls, and will rev to the moon. The thing is an absolute monster. I have yet to use a trimmer that I'd trade it for, 4 stroke cycle included -I'm not a professional critic, but I am a professional lawncare operator. I'm sure there are bad Stihls like anything else, but I've had best luck out of Stihl, and have never been low in the power department.
@shift808 I've got a Stihl that was given to me, and both my dad and uncle claim its 30 yrs old, still runs fine, and at the time they put dates on em, it said 8-24-79, so they were close, the newer one we have starts a little better, dosent have a date of production on it, or at least not on the same spot, and is heavier, both FS 80r models, old one has just went through on carb. and 2 spark plugs.
@noah3824 Absolutely. I guess there are two different Stihls or something -I don't know where people get they are junk. I've never had a minutes trouble out of any of mine, and they have power to spare.
My 4 mixes are the best. However, the trimmer head on the line trimmers are more difficult to advance the line rather than the echo's. The stihls it seems like you have to slam the button and the echo's you just have to tap easy.
ohh and after that, just do the starting steps as always and once it starts let it run (throttle open) for 25 to 30 sec and then squeeze the throttle, this should release the thottle open position and you're ready for some fun
I don't know if you have figured this one out yet but, instead of holding the throttle, just squeeze the trigger and push the on/of switch towards the engine, let go the trigger and then the switch, it should stay in the start position (throttle open)
hey guess wat u cheated i mean 4 real dude we no u cheated first of all u checked the muffler on the redmax the first one. so that part was fine but then on the echo u didnt check the muffler and it probly wouldnt start that easy. now the stihl you didnt check the muffler and it started on one pull. there probly was gas in the line dip. another thing is u started the stihl on 1 pull i no as a fact stihl is a good brand and it doesnt start that easy
will youand everyone just stop saying that he cheated and all that shit he is doing the best he can for your entertainment and he dosnt deserve all you dumbasses making him feel bad so shut up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
all these start vids are invalid because all the stihl motors have recently been ran, they have not sat as long as the redmax and the troy built, some their is gas the in carbs already making them start everytime
dude, why are you so biased towards stihl products? and that contest wasnt really fare because the stihl trimmer has the 4 mix engine which is totally different than the two stroke engine that the echo and redmax have
First of all, you cant have used an echo or you wouldnt be saying that. biased. second, this was about starting the machines, not their power. third, read the next guys comment
what weed wacker should i buy that is reliable cheap doesnt have problems and i can buy at local stores becuz im not allow to buy stuff on the internet so please replay to me
The echo gt-200r, which was just recently updated to the gt-225 ( a newer model), is the best, longest lasting weedeater currently on the market. I use one everyday, and I honestly have tried to kill it and the thing will not die. I also have 2 gt-230's, as well as 2 srm 260s, and i have yet to even come close to a problem with any of them. Also, echo has a 5 year warranty. You can buy the gt-225 at home depot, and it retails for 169.99, although a certified dealer is your best bet.
Any echo you buy is an excellent product, and are the same at the big box stores and at certified dealers ( the places that sell and service the equipment.) Its best to go with the dealer because then if you do have a problem (very unlikely with an echo) they will stand behind it more than something bought at a big box store. And, i forgot to mention, most brands are epa certified for a useful life of about 50-100 hours- including stihl. Echo has the highest rating- 300 hours on all machines!!
so do u mean i can run the engine for 50-100 fro stihl and 300hrs for echo? and by the way how much are stihl i heard they are pretty good but not as good as echo and so if i buy echo at like a shop that sell lawn and yard equip unlike home depot i will get backup if it breaks?
The epa rates the engines for their useful life, and how long they estimate before the engine will need replacement, The max rating available is 300hrs, and Echo is one of the only manf. to do so. Stihl is rates between 50-100 hours usually. Stihl chainsaws are awesome, but pretty much their other equipment isnt. They are priced generally slightly cheaper than echo, and are only sold at dealers.
so the life of echo is 300hr thats kinda long is it it's basically me use it for 1yr cuz there 312 days in a year o.o but if it breaks the place where i buy it from will they fix it for free cuz u said there a 5 year guarentee or something like that and ill buy it at the dealer not home depot but if i buy at the dealer wouldnt cost more cuz it should
Youd be surprised how long 300hrs is- im a landscaper and dont do that in a year, and the average homeowner is less than 50 norm. It is the same price at the dealer unless the dealer marked up the price for some reason, which is unlikely- but they all have the same prices everywhere. It has a 5 year warranty, and if it breaks and it is a problem with the machine and not something you did (i.e. use straight gas), it will be fixed for free under warranty. Warranty claims are rare on echos.
ok on to a new question can you list what weed eater are the best to u from 1-5 or how many u want form order best to lease cuz i think echo is best for me now
- These machines are the best of the best! Homelite is just garbage, as well as any craftsman. I don't really know too much about Hondas because we dont work on too many 4 strokes... so I didnt include them. But Honda makes a very good lawnmower engine
Oh and exactly what are you using the machine for? Commercial (Landscaping Use) or Residential (Homeowner) and in what environment? High grass or edge work?
i went to home depot today becuz were remodeling our house "getting tiles" and i check out the echos there was the $180 echo that u told me about and other that were $220+ idk what to get
Well that question is up to you and your personal preferences i suppose. If you're taller, you're going to want to choose one with a straight shaft, which are the pricier ones. Also, if you're weedtrimming heavier stuff, you're oing to want one of the straight shaft ones, because all but the srm-210 have a larger engine for more power. It all depends on your personal preferences and how much money you have to spend.
im about 5.8ft and the srm-210 is the 1 that is $180 right? so if im 5.8 which 1 do u recommand and all im using it for is to edge and cuut weed on fences, poles, mail boxes, and cut around trees
For only that little bit, Id recommend either the gt-225 ( the smallest curved shaft echo makes for I believe $169.99) or the srm -225 (the smallest straight shaft for i believe 199.99). They have the same motor its just the one that is straight shaft is usually a little easier to use because you can stand up and hold it better than a curve shaft. Its up to you, but you definitely don't need anything more.
If you buy an echo from a shop, depending on the shop, you may get a loaner piece, but its unlikely for such a small trimmer from anywhere. However, when you buy from a dealer, if the machine breaks, you are basically on their priority list, and they want to get it back to you faster in order to keep your business. Dealers stand behind and service what they sell, whereas Home Depot doesnt. Thus if you buy from HD and take it to a dealer, it is more likely 2 b put 2 the back of the pile of work.
so your saying they will fix it if i buy it at the dealer's right "im confuse" cuz wheni was driving somewhere i saw a store full of lawn equipment the only thing they sell i think
Yes- if you buy from an echo dealer, all echo dealers service and repair echo machines- its the only way echo operates. Home Depot doesnt though. It is fixed for free when there is a problem with the machine that was not of your doing- its covered under warranty. Echo has a 5 year warranty because of how few the number of warranty claims are- the machines are just that good and normally dont break. We've been in business 14 years, and have had 2 or 3 chainsaw claims.
echos sadly are not sold at certified dealers anymore. only the big box stores. they are not near as good as they used to be either i can tell a huge difference in my trimmer from 1996 and the one from 2007
Really theyre not? Im pretty sure I AM a certified echo dealer, and can name three others in the same county. Also, unless you bought a different size motor echo, that difference youre noticing is nonexistent, because Echos remained largely unchanged between 1996 and 2007. Nothing was majorly changed except to better the performance. Also, the only big box store that sells Echo is home depot.
nope i got mine at lowes cuz home depot was 20 bucks more. and i went to 3 former echo dealers lookin for echo and they were all completely stihl cuz they said echo had gone to the big box stores now
Please tell me which Lowes because Lowes DOES NOT have a contract to sell echo. And those dealers meant that Echo is now being sold in the big box stores and they didnt want the competition so they dropped the line. Stihl however is dealer exclusive. But Echos are still sold at mainly dealers. But seriously Lowes doesnt have a contract to sell these machines so idk what you mean
No, Echos never have been nor will they be in the near future sold at Lowes. The only Big Box Store to have ever carried the Echo product is Home Depot, and Echo keeps a strict policy over them.
all the dealers in my area have dropped echo because more of their stuff these days is being made in china. what do you mean big limitations? when i got my last trimmer home depot had everything there that the dealers used to have. stihl is a much better product anyway
complete bull shit. I got a stihl 011 chainsaw that starts very hard. I got an echo saw thats starts 3 pulls tops. My husky line trimmer used to start first pull(new) now after 4 years (1 plug change) it takes 5-6 to start. Overall condition of the machine can't be shown on a video.
in someways this test isnt fair, because the stihl is new,the other two are quite old, so the stihl IS going to start better, but i dont think the test is biased, good vid :D
I've enjoyed learning through your vids, but isnt that a REALLY old RedMax? It has a flip on switch. And the ones we have are passed that type. Plus...you guys use the Stihl more than RedMax, so isnt it fair to say that the Stihl has been used more RECENTLY than the RedMax? So it cant count as an even cold start.
I honestly wouldn't trust anything this guy says or does. Watch his "Stihl versus Redmax" video. You can clearly see him turning the motor off via the kill switch and then, while the ignition switch was in the OFF position, attempting to start it repeatedly, eventually flooding the motor.
A quote from one of his replies: "...[Redmax] still uses 2cycle technology, Stihl combines 2cycle and 4cycle technology, so not too big of a difference." HUGE difference between hybrid and 2cycle motors, sorry
Definitely an unbiased evaluation of the three pieces of equipment...." now will go with the boss of them all". Your comparing an outdated Redmax to a fairly new Stihl.
I wouldn't say this is a fair representation of anything other than a fairly newer Stihl's ability to start easily , However , Its fairly obvious that the Redmax and Echo are not even made in the same decade as the Stihl .
It's kind of an apples/orange/peach comparison. That looks like an older RedMax trimmer, the Echo hedging shears sport their 21.2cc engine which is not their flagship engine, and the Stihl is a heavy four stroke weighing in about a pound heavier than a comparable Red Max and Echo. If this had been between an SRM260s, FS80, and a BC250 it would mean more. Cool comparison though.
I noticed when starting the Stihl you gave it full throttle. I personally think the start better if you give it full throttle push the I/O switch to Start and then let go. That is the staring throttle position. I think its like 3/4 throttle. IDK, just a guess.
Nice! I am buying trimmer soon :D should I buy a buy a Stihl or Red Max trimmer. I think that they are both great brands. Do you have any oppions on what lasts longer and needs the least repairs. I realy think that i will buy a sthil since I have used them before but my dealer says red max is the best.
They are both really good brands. I've always had good luck with starting Stihl, but our Redmax has served us faithfully. Redmax has a really clean burning engine out, the emissions are as low as the Stihl 4 Mix engine. I like the Stihl 4 Mix because the engine runs at lower RPMs, which will help it last longer. However, Stihl tends to be a little more pricy than other brands. But otherwise, they're both great brands.
fuck my echos pussy echo is the boss of them all! so come and buy a echo and lets see who has more power in cutting buffalo grass.. and when you said the sthil is the boss of them all its backwards! echos the boss!
Haha, really? Then how come Stihl is the Best selling and most popular chainsaw, trimmer, and blower around? There is a difference. Echo is a good tool, but just not quite like a Stihl, especially the famous 4 Mix engine! Any last words to say?
Air passing through the carburetor which is pulled into the combustion chamber during the intake stroke creates a vacuum which sucks fuel into the carburetor. I think the mixture is 82% air and 18% fuel.
no engine starts from cold on first pull like that, the first pull usually doesn't fire as all it manages to do is pull fuel/air mix into the crankcase. stop editing videos like that and be more honest about it all

all these start vids are invalid because all the stihl motors have recently been ran, they have not sat as long as the redmax and the troy built, some their is gas the in carbs already making them start everytime
techhelper1 2 years ago
dude, why are you so biased towards stihl products? and that contest wasnt really fare because the stihl trimmer has the 4 mix engine which is totally different than the two stroke engine that the echo and redmax have

Red Max And Echo Really Dont Have That Much Power As Stihl...
DRUTLAND3 2 years ago
First of all, you cant have used an echo or you wouldnt be saying that. biased. second, this was about starting the machines, not their power. third, read the next guys comment
teamcrackitracing 2 years ago
I love stihl chains saws but thats about it the REDMAX is the way to go by far for trimmers and there blowers
f250strokin 2 years ago
what weed wacker should i buy that is reliable cheap doesnt have problems and i can buy at local stores becuz im not allow to buy stuff on the internet so please replay to me
snowbanditz 2 years ago
The echo gt-200r, which was just recently updated to the gt-225 ( a newer model), is the best, longest lasting weedeater currently on the market. I use one everyday, and I honestly have tried to kill it and the thing will not die. I also have 2 gt-230's, as well as 2 srm 260s, and i have yet to even come close to a problem with any of them. Also, echo has a 5 year warranty. You can buy the gt-225 at home depot, and it retails for 169.99, although a certified dealer is your best bet.
teamcrackitracing 2 years ago
so any echo i buy is good? and what do u mean by certified dealers like a place that mainly sell lawn and yard equipments?
snowbanditz 2 years ago
Any echo you buy is an excellent product, and are the same at the big box stores and at certified dealers ( the places that sell and service the equipment.) Its best to go with the dealer because then if you do have a problem (very unlikely with an echo) they will stand behind it more than something bought at a big box store. And, i forgot to mention, most brands are epa certified for a useful life of about 50-100 hours- including stihl. Echo has the highest rating- 300 hours on all machines!!
teamcrackitracing 2 years ago
so do u mean i can run the engine for 50-100 fro stihl and 300hrs for echo? and by the way how much are stihl i heard they are pretty good but not as good as echo and so if i buy echo at like a shop that sell lawn and yard equip unlike home depot i will get backup if it breaks?
snowbanditz 2 years ago
The epa rates the engines for their useful life, and how long they estimate before the engine will need replacement, The max rating available is 300hrs, and Echo is one of the only manf. to do so. Stihl is rates between 50-100 hours usually. Stihl chainsaws are awesome, but pretty much their other equipment isnt. They are priced generally slightly cheaper than echo, and are only sold at dealers.
teamcrackitracing 2 years ago
so the life of echo is 300hr thats kinda long is it it's basically me use it for 1yr cuz there 312 days in a year o.o but if it breaks the place where i buy it from will they fix it for free cuz u said there a 5 year guarentee or something like that and ill buy it at the dealer not home depot but if i buy at the dealer wouldnt cost more cuz it should
snowbanditz 2 years ago
Youd be surprised how long 300hrs is- im a landscaper and dont do that in a year, and the average homeowner is less than 50 norm. It is the same price at the dealer unless the dealer marked up the price for some reason, which is unlikely- but they all have the same prices everywhere. It has a 5 year warranty, and if it breaks and it is a problem with the machine and not something you did (i.e. use straight gas), it will be fixed for free under warranty. Warranty claims are rare on echos.
teamcrackitracing 2 years ago
ok on to a new question can you list what weed eater are the best to u from 1-5 or how many u want form order best to lease cuz i think echo is best for me now
snowbanditz 2 years ago
Which echos are the best for the price, or which weedtrimmer brands are the best from best to worse?
teamcrackitracing 2 years ago
brands from best to worse like a example:
1:echo
2:homelight
3:honda this is a example
snowbanditz 2 years ago
landscape/edging now can you list them
snowbanditz 2 years ago
1. Echo
2. Stihl
3. Redmax
4. Husqvarna
5. Toro
- These machines are the best of the best! Homelite is just garbage, as well as any craftsman. I don't really know too much about Hondas because we dont work on too many 4 strokes... so I didnt include them. But Honda makes a very good lawnmower engine
teamcrackitracing 2 years ago
what about shindaiwa? and jonsered. easy better than redmax.
xbox4lyfe 2 years ago
Oh and exactly what are you using the machine for? Commercial (Landscaping Use) or Residential (Homeowner) and in what environment? High grass or edge work?
teamcrackitracing 2 years ago
that was a example i told u the honda and homelite
snowbanditz 2 years ago
Oh okay then. Well in my opinion, that 5 is the list from best to worst of the top 5 manufaturers of weedtrimmers
teamcrackitracing 2 years ago
alright thx for everything man
snowbanditz 2 years ago
No problem man. Just a landscaper/dealer trying to help people out :)
teamcrackitracing 2 years ago
i went to home depot today becuz were remodeling our house "getting tiles" and i check out the echos there was the $180 echo that u told me about and other that were $220+ idk what to get
snowbanditz 2 years ago
Well that question is up to you and your personal preferences i suppose. If you're taller, you're going to want to choose one with a straight shaft, which are the pricier ones. Also, if you're weedtrimming heavier stuff, you're oing to want one of the straight shaft ones, because all but the srm-210 have a larger engine for more power. It all depends on your personal preferences and how much money you have to spend.
teamcrackitracing 2 years ago
im about 5.8ft and the srm-210 is the 1 that is $180 right? so if im 5.8 which 1 do u recommand and all im using it for is to edge and cuut weed on fences, poles, mail boxes, and cut around trees
snowbanditz 2 years ago
For only that little bit, Id recommend either the gt-225 ( the smallest curved shaft echo makes for I believe $169.99) or the srm -225 (the smallest straight shaft for i believe 199.99). They have the same motor its just the one that is straight shaft is usually a little easier to use because you can stand up and hold it better than a curve shaft. Its up to you, but you definitely don't need anything more.
teamcrackitracing 2 years ago
If you buy an echo from a shop, depending on the shop, you may get a loaner piece, but its unlikely for such a small trimmer from anywhere. However, when you buy from a dealer, if the machine breaks, you are basically on their priority list, and they want to get it back to you faster in order to keep your business. Dealers stand behind and service what they sell, whereas Home Depot doesnt. Thus if you buy from HD and take it to a dealer, it is more likely 2 b put 2 the back of the pile of work.
teamcrackitracing 2 years ago
so your saying they will fix it if i buy it at the dealer's right "im confuse" cuz wheni was driving somewhere i saw a store full of lawn equipment the only thing they sell i think
snowbanditz 2 years ago
Yes- if you buy from an echo dealer, all echo dealers service and repair echo machines- its the only way echo operates. Home Depot doesnt though. It is fixed for free when there is a problem with the machine that was not of your doing- its covered under warranty. Echo has a 5 year warranty because of how few the number of warranty claims are- the machines are just that good and normally dont break. We've been in business 14 years, and have had 2 or 3 chainsaw claims.
teamcrackitracing 2 years ago
echos sadly are not sold at certified dealers anymore. only the big box stores. they are not near as good as they used to be either i can tell a huge difference in my trimmer from 1996 and the one from 2007
crackermess 2 years ago
Really theyre not? Im pretty sure I AM a certified echo dealer, and can name three others in the same county. Also, unless you bought a different size motor echo, that difference youre noticing is nonexistent, because Echos remained largely unchanged between 1996 and 2007. Nothing was majorly changed except to better the performance. Also, the only big box store that sells Echo is home depot.
teamcrackitracing 2 years ago
nope i got mine at lowes cuz home depot was 20 bucks more. and i went to 3 former echo dealers lookin for echo and they were all completely stihl cuz they said echo had gone to the big box stores now
crackermess 2 years ago
Please tell me which Lowes because Lowes DOES NOT have a contract to sell echo. And those dealers meant that Echo is now being sold in the big box stores and they didnt want the competition so they dropped the line. Stihl however is dealer exclusive. But Echos are still sold at mainly dealers. But seriously Lowes doesnt have a contract to sell these machines so idk what you mean
teamcrackitracing 2 years ago
well they were all on sale so maybe their contract was ending? idk
crackermess 2 years ago
No, Echos never have been nor will they be in the near future sold at Lowes. The only Big Box Store to have ever carried the Echo product is Home Depot, and Echo keeps a strict policy over them.
teamcrackitracing 2 years ago
ohh haha my bad it looks like ive mixed up my hardware stores

complete bull shit. I got a stihl 011 chainsaw that starts very hard. I got an echo saw thats starts 3 pulls tops. My husky line trimmer used to start first pull(new) now after 4 years (1 plug change) it takes 5-6 to start. Overall condition of the machine can't be shown on a video.

polariskid13 2 years ago
I've enjoyed learning through your vids, but isnt that a REALLY old RedMax? It has a flip on switch. And the ones we have are passed that type. Plus...you guys use the Stihl more than RedMax, so isnt it fair to say that the Stihl has been used more RECENTLY than the RedMax? So it cant count as an even cold start.
GRASSROOTS504 2 years ago

Your comparing an outdated Redmax to a fairly new Stihl.
omrebel1981 2 years ago 4
It was a requested video. Redmax still uses 2 cycle technology, Stihl combines 2 cycle and 4 cycle technology, so not too big of a difference.
DanielJaegerFilms 2 years ago
I wouldn't say this is a fair representation of anything other than a fairly newer Stihl's ability to start easily , However , Its fairly obvious that the Redmax and Echo are not even made in the same decade as the Stihl .
olerowdy1 2 years ago

IDK, just a guess.
powerstroker14 3 years ago
Hmm, never thought of that. I always though it just held the throttle on full.
DanielJaegerFilms 3 years ago
Yah, I don't think it holds it on full. Its a little less because when its held their you can still pull the trigger a little more. Check it out .

Nice! I am buying trimmer soon :D should I buy a buy a Stihl or Red Max trimmer. I think that they are both great brands. Do you have any oppions on what lasts longer and needs the least repairs. I realy think that i will buy a sthil since I have used them before but my dealer says red max is the best.
mtr82952 3 years ago 3
They are both really good brands. I've always had good luck with starting Stihl, but our Redmax has served us faithfully. Redmax has a really clean burning engine out, the emissions are as low as the Stihl 4 Mix engine. I like the Stihl 4 Mix because the engine runs at lower RPMs, which will help it last longer. However, Stihl tends to be a little more pricy than other brands. But otherwise, they're both great brands.

fuck my echos pussy echo is the boss of them all! so come and buy a echo and lets see who has more power in cutting buffalo grass.. and when you said the sthil is the boss of them all its backwards! echos the boss!
tundra298 3 years ago
Haha, really? Then how come Stihl is the Best selling and most popular chainsaw, trimmer, and blower around? There is a difference. Echo is a good tool, but just not quite like a Stihl, especially the famous 4 Mix engine! Any last words to say?

Smallgasengine1 3 years ago
Great video. What starting procedure do you recommend for a Stihl trimmer (not 4 mix) when its cold and 70 degrees out?
powerstroker14 3 years ago
The same as I did in this video. 5 primes, choke on, pull until engine fires, then, before the engine stalls, move choke to off position.
DanielJaegerFilms 3 years ago
how does the carb suck fuel from the gas tank when the engine is running? i know there is a fuel line at 1:36
Smallgasengine1 3 years ago
Air passing through the carburetor which is pulled into the combustion chamber during the intake stroke creates a vacuum which sucks fuel into the carburetor. I think the mixture is 82% air and 18% fuel.

you should have known that (smallgasengine1)

Air being sucked into the carb from the piston sucks fuel in as well. The mixture is 18% fuel, 82% air.
