Not quite, Brian. Like most x-mas traditions, the wreath is actually an old Celtic practice meant to safeguard life over the long, cold winter. The Celts believed that if people did not bring life into their homes in the winter, nothing would be able to grow back in the spring. Basically, it was protection magic for the plants. When the Celts were conquered and converted, the tradition was folded into the christian holiday in order to replace yule with x-mas.
@RijkieM yeah, but white also means C-C-C-COOOOOOLD!!! but i guess i would miss the snow if i was someplace warm during the Canadian winter.... worse, even I'm an Albertan. But, "if you don't like the weather in Alberta; wait 5 minutes. It'll Change!!"
Aww. Dr Mike and Reverend holding hands. I have lost my sight temporarily and it is frightening.

Ugh. Why does nearly everyone seem to not know how the story really went?

Poor Reverend. He's got to stay in bed and he hasn't even got a radio to entertain him because it wasn't invented at the time.

I think it would be torture to have to stay in bed all day without anything to read or do. Poor Reverend. :(

@Tealya You're right. Nearly all Christmas traditions are Celtic. The ones that aren't are pagan in origin.

@ichbineinfreidenker Christians don't celebrate Kwanzaa. It's celebrated by African-Americans that reject Christmas. Also, it wasn't around til 1966.
