  • Gotta love the fire bird trumpet.

  • It should be illegal to dislike Maynard!

  • There is one jealous person in our presence...

  • how does one attain chops like that??

  • When Chuck Norris hears Maynard's triple C he has to leave the room. He get's scared.

  • @citywidelawns When Chuck Norris sees Maynard, he has to leave the room

  • Besides the fact that hes such a beast at the Trumpet hes also an awesome dancer. 3:15

  • LOVE the line at 3:48!!! And LOVE the Triple C at 4:48!!!

  • @johnmohanmusic The Triple C is sick!!!

  • I can't even describe this in words.

  • Damn Maynard had it goin' ON in the 70s! Look at that sexy fuck!

  • Even after all these years I love this tune. I know, I know...Maynard's commercial stuff....bla...bla...bla. So what. It's a great programatic piece of music, and Maynard poured his heart into it. Hey ffreguson1975...I'm not ashamed to admit that Maynard is my hero, too! As MFhorn13 said...Never before...Never since. Don't get me wrong, there are lots of TRULY amazing cats out there that I love, but Maynard is one of the true trumpet gods.

  • Holy crap!!

  • y do u gaiz put up the times! its all great!

  • 3:43 I'm speechless

  • Never before, never since. Maynard was the man. This is great stuff.

  • Whew! Damn! He was absolutely on the money that day!

  • Triple C never sounded so good. In fact, it never sounded before!

  • Superman. Elvis with a horn. GUTS, and the power to back it up.

  • The boss was the best ever! I met him several times and I miss him!

  • Excellent. Maynard in top form. Mike Douglas had a nice afternoon show. What do we have now, "Dr Phil" in the afternoon. Gimme a break!

  • AMAZING! every second of this song is just simple, pure amazingness!

  • this song is killer but I think 4:46 is just a little too much :p

  • @andrewoc15 Seriously? That was over the top!

  • very wonderfull

  • the firebird had real issues with intonation....I still wish I hadn't needed to sell it to get a better horn. Now they are worth over $3500.00 (if you can find one)

  • 4:44 He just surpassed Chuck Norris.

  • That is not a flugel horn. It is a Firebird slide trumpet invented by Maynard.

  • first of all thats a flugel horn

  • Gotta love the MF Firebird!!!

  • i want one of those trumpets

  • good drummer he kiks as fast hands great band just loved it like wow

  • Just outright amazing by the nicest guy to ever blow a double C!

  • I once saw Maynard and the orchestra performs this in an amphitheatre in DC. He went out into the audience and peformed a solo that was off the hook!

  • Wow, amazing !!!!!

  • I think the choreography of Maynard was hilarious. ( watch 2:01 and later)

  • kind of made me think at the end... I wonder if he ever lost his mouthpiece while conducting with his trumpet

  • Incredible...the activity from about 3:30 on is amazing. I would have loved to have been in the studio audience. There is only one MF!!!

  • i don't think there's a soul on this planet that could recreate this performance.....the one and only MF!

  • it must be a fantasy. That can't possibly be real. NO WAY.

  • A lesson to all you trumpeters... Follow your heart, like Maynard did. Maynard was shunned for not being technical enough and not having a pretty sound. He ended up ripping the world apart. You can do it too. jazzlives

  • @jazzmfhorn00 I agree. Except his sound was pretty good in my opinion, but that's one jazzer to another

  • @jazzmfhorn00 His sound is AMAZING, thank you very much!

  • unreal

  • Heck yes Firebird trumpet!

  • God I want to play this song in my high school jazz band so much....

  • Most probably 1977-78

  • What year was this?

  • @cov01crew

it was 77. I saw this tour and by far this was his greatest line up EVER!!!

  • i"ll vote for "sick" too! talk about being "on"!:) how cool!

  • one of the most incredible performances i've ever seen!

  • Classic 70's MF, you gotta love it! ...and with Bruce Johnston, Peter Erskine, Joe "Joseppi the Loon" Mosselo, Mark Colby, Ron Tooley, etc.. Awesome!

  • @tpt1234

actually Bruce Johnston isn't in this. The Tenor player was Mark Colby. But I totally agree...AWESOME!

  • 3:48 is SICK!

  • @btj89 indeed!

  • @btj89 Absolutly insane. It will never be like this again. Life was so good then. No one before or after Maynard could even begin to attempt such a feat on live tv. WOW!

  • @btj89 I don't know, 2:04 is my favorite!
