  • I literally lol'd when he said the cars top speed was 125 MPH.

  • I DONT THINK SO!!! IF SOMEBODY WILL PAY 90.000$ WOULDN'T THINK ABOUT GAS AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO 90.000 I THINK IS ONLY FOR NICE HOT "DESIGH"!!!!

  • whats torp?

  • This man is the Tim Tucker of lithium ion powered vehicles.

  • 0 to 100 km/h in 6 seconds, top speed only 200 km/h. weight 2,5 tons. See the problem? Unless electric cars get very light powercells in the future, it's nothing...

  • I have one for sale at my dealership in Mcallen, TX! Visit our web page at barrettautogallerycom and call us for price and info. Joselo

  • Dude if I had the money to spend between this and, say, a Porsche 911, I'd take this shit right away

  • 240p WE MEET AGAIN

  • This is what American tax payers paid for? This piece of shit? Using laptop batteries is no innovative nor competitive when it comes to pricing. Go back to the drawing board WITHOUT govt. hand outs and try again.

  • @Warpath2198 Obama fucked you in the ass bitch

  • @Warpath2198 Its not an american car, idiot.

  • Some ppl need to do some research- the 20mpg is worst case scenario completely drained battery. At least you can still make it home unlike with other electrics! And it is EXTREMELY environmentally friendly- the EcoChic is completely animal free, all leather used in other models is made in a closed loop system, the wood trim isn't even made from live trees! The paint is water based, no chrome... Pretty bad ass 959ft-lbs of torque at 0rpm. The Veyron doesn't even get that at 2200rpm

  • I ordered a Karma 27 month ago on IAA motor show in Frankfurt. The car fits exactly to my 'driving needs' : Low distances between my companies and sometimes longer trips. I was tired of all the fuel burnd by Z06 or Continental GT on my 95% short trips. And by the way the Karma is the only car with much space inside, so please do not compare it with a Tesla.

It is nice to learn from the other comments here that this car was sponsored by us taxes. So the county that did not care much of enegie i

  • I guess you could buy this if you wanted a "super car" that's not a super car...

  • What a piece of shit...a waste tax payers' money is what it is. 20MPG on gas!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME??

  • So here's where your tax money went.

  • wow! if they can make an suv with this technology. would be great

  • or you buy a tesla?

  • thats a really good price for a slow low range boring car! i mean you gotta start some where, but i'd say that a top speed of 125, is pretty bad. brilliant idea with the regenerative braking though!

  • This fake environmentalist-hybrid-designs and the pricky looks of that car juz gimme the creeps. I mean U know the disadvantages of combustion engines right? that they suck at low rpm and come with a load of moving parts...that tend to brake and keep Ur ride in service...Hybrids simply combine all disadvantages of both techs to let U pay more for somethin´ U don´t want or have any use fo. damn ;)

  • I think I will pass. I dont think just because a car looks a certain way it can be considered a super car... And I love the ending comment about all the money youll save on gas... lol this car is expensive as shit and would be compared to a normal 25k car nowadays... ill pass

  • I saw one in SJC CA today...I was wondering why the exhaust tips were sort of closed off.

  • 50 miles per charge? Are you kidding me? I'm not impressed at all. This car is dwarfed by Tesla motors Roadster and upcoming S-type. They are pure electric and can go up to 300 miles on one charge. Full charge in only 45 minutes, not to mention that Roadster gets from 0-60 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds.

  • My van goes faster than this:) 135. And anyone who doesnt believe. I used to live in Germany and actually tried it out.

  • terrible explanation

  • Its kinda funny the attention this Fisker Karma and Tesla Roadster generates in USA. Mainly, I suspect, because people see them as all "american" supercars. However nobody mentions that this one is built in Finland and the Tesla Roadster is designed and built at the Lotus factory in England based on the Elise. Dodge Circuit too is a re-dressed Lotus.

  • Long live the internal combustion engine! F*** off with these stupid candy a** hybrids! V8,V10 & V12 FTW!!! F*** it,the only car i'll drive in the future is the one with internal combustion engine powered by hydrogen fuel,NOTHING ELSE! Nuff said...

  • For being "efficient electric vehicles"...they're not very efficient. 40miles per charge on paper's hardly brilliant, especially when in the real world it's probably half that. And fast driving in this thing? Forget about it. Powering a town would probably use less electricity.

  • So basically, all Fisker did was put leather on a Chevy Volt and jack the price up by two. You're still 100% dependent on oil. He's no innovator, just a schmuck.

Why is he getting government money for this?!

  • Without a single drop of gas? Hmm... How did the parts arrive at the plant to produce the vehicle? How was the vehicle delivered to the owner? I think not!

  • @illchillkyle stfu dude

  • i am investing my dollars in this company! this is the next big thing.

  • @foxa777 Nothing like the Prius: Prius is a parallel hybrid; Karma is a series hybrid. Prius is a hybrid, Karma is a Plug in hybrid that you can recharge and work as all electric for 40+ miles. And finally, the look and size of a Prius !

  • @foxa777 would you want to drive a prius or the Fisker?

  • @foxa777 this would assfuck a prius.

  • @foxa777 are you kidding me, copy of Prius? Prius is the taxi, the gay car, the worst of the worsts....Don't even put Fisker with Toyota, too far, too far...

  • Cooool !

  • Meh, I think I'll stick with my v8.

  • I see fisker everyday. I live like 2 mins away from the company headquarter. This car is so awesome in person.

  • I love this small factories.

    This car is beautifull.

They should touch it a little more to make it really stand up.

Electric cars have so much potential.

  • 125mph O_O HOLY SHIT

  • wow...a whole 50 miles between charges?

  • lol 50 mile range

  • @aga080 aye, 50 mile range on battery alone, then you can add another 200 miles on the ICE before you have to refill the gastank, and continue driving.

Besides, most trips are a lot less than 50 miles on average, so it'll quickly add up. :)

  • This is the first electric car that makes my heart beat faster.....Compare the smooth lines of the car with the beautiful Maserati Gran Turismo and see how much these cars look alike. If I had the money, I would definitely buy the Fisker.

  • Fisker is saying that Fisker Automotive will not develop or manufacture any cars. They will outsource everything and only keep design and marketing in-house. But Fisker only has an automobile design company called Fisker Coachbuild. So what is the difference between Fisker Automotive and Fisker Coachbuild?

  • The grill looks like it has rabbit/buck teeth. The car is nice overall but Risked could have done a lot better designing the grill.

  • wtf is this? where's Clarkson when you need him

  • What idiot wrote the voiceover for this?

  • like it or not this may be a push in the right direction. although i would be hard pressed to spend 80 grand on a car i make parts for.( engine mounts )

  • It looks not bad, but the car has no soul!!!

It probably also is very havy with all the batteries, I JUST WANT A REAL ENGINE WITH NOISE!!!

  • It's not a hybrid damnit, it's an EV with a fuel-powered engine serving as a generator. At no point is the fuel-powered engine involved with the driven wheels.

  • @Cruxalicious

So it is a hybrid, a series-hybrid to be precise.

What you have in your head is a parallel hybrid like the Prius, Civic and the like. Which are generally cheaper to produce because of "power sharing" (smaller electric motor+smaller ICE than similar powered series hybrid).

  • the tesla tech into a car looking like this would have made my dream. I am not impressed by this hybrid crap in the meanwhile, it always seems like a half-solution.

  • Henrik got his inspiration to use lithium ion batteries from cell phones? Really? Nothing from Toyota or Tesla huh?

  • $100 isn't much for a high-tech luxury-sport EV. Compare that to a fat 7-series.

  • ICE is for charging the battery, like a generator, or is used for traction???? sorry 4 my bad english...

  • Yay! He's dane. Im dane too :)

  • This car is beautiful!

And the specs are amazing. I really like the built in generator giving 100mpg, that is really impressive and a much better solution than jumping to full electric when the infrastructure isn't available yet, nor is immediate charging function at charging stations as lith-ion batteries can't do that on their own.

    I want one!!

  • Doesn't this car need the boost of the Ecotech engine to accelerate to 62 in 6 seconds?

  • So where are the cars? Where are the drivable prototypes? Tesla has already sold 1400 roadsters and just opened up their own factoryplant.

  • @Nichen It comes out i 2011.

  • Fisker is a crap, Tesla rulzz!! :)

  • im confused. does the engine simply turn a generator? or the rear wheels? or both?

  • @eaglesdood16 People keep misusing the term "hybrid" It's only a hybrid if both electric and gas motors drive the car other wise it's an electric car with a gas generator much like a train.

  • "while the karma looks like a sports car, it sure doesn't sound like one" wow thats a bad way to advertise it.

  • i got to start my own electric car company now!

  • 125mph?that sucks

  • I think they could of do alot better than 125mph...

  • @filiopop101 but do either of your cars get 100 mpg? I think not.

  • I don't think super cars like that will be a big hit because, most enthusiast prefer the screaming roar from a gas engine.

  • Oh, I saw one of those cars! I thought it was a Maserati though.

  • an adult's powerwheel ;)

  • i've seen it at a dealer, its really huge. Its beautiful: fuck prius, this is what we want

  • i like this, but i like tesla better :)

  • wow...it was carved out of clay...just like every other car in development lol

  • $87,600!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

  • No wonder Tesla Model S and Aston Martin car got a bit similarity in looks. They designed by the same guy.

  • 125mph? thats honestly a pathetic speed. my 200hp audi a4 does 145 and my jeep srt with 430hp does 180mph where the hell does the speed go?

  • @filiopop101 are u serious?? a car that is nearly fully electric and gets freakin 100 mpg and looks amazing and full of futures! 125 is perfect for an electric car!

  • I seriuosly doubt it has more torque than a Bugatti Veyron lol

  • @Carrillo17

Why? Electric motors create massive torque and they do so instantaneously.

  • @Carrillo17: of course it does (have more torque than a Veyron), though only at low RPMs. An ideal electric motor's torque is 1/rpm. 1/0 is infinity, so an ideal electric motor has infinite torque when stopped. No electric motor is ideal, but it's easy for electric cars to have more torque than internal combustion cars. This is also why the original Tesla Roadster kept breaking the transmissions.

  • Looks niceeee

  • It's a luxury car, not a car for the average person. What's wrong with that?

  • People have the misconception that electric is perfect, don't forget that electricity requires burning coal. The fact is that most electric cars are still basically hybrids with old fashioned gas engines at their heart. And the batteries, they weigh half a ton if not more and recharging is a 6 hour process compared to a 5 minute gas stop. We won't have gas forever but we won't have a realistic alternative any time soon either. The real future is in lightweight efficiency like the smart car.

  • @NMoulana: electricity does not "require" burning coal, it comes from any number of sources, including burning natural gas, burning oil, or burning coal, but also hydroelectric or nuclear. In some parts of the country, most electricity does come from coal. But so what? The Karma gets more "coal mileage" than a conventional vehicle, because electric cars are twice as efficient. Plus the pollution goes "over there", not into our lungs, and that last is worth billions of dollars.

  • you guys cant compare this car to the tesla. The tesla is built for something completely different and so is the Karma... this is the future of motoring and its the savior for our gasoline powered cars. if everyone on the road were driving the Tesla it wouldnt make sense b/c our world is built around the car as we know it we drive until the gas depletes, we fill up and drive more with the tesla u drive a few feet and u charge the car over night.. we would go backwards in time.

  • it looks like a beaver

  • tesla has better mileage

  • way more efficient, cheaper than the aston martin rapide. This is the future

  • Dear Honda, take picture, print picture, take to R&D...please reproduce electric cars in this style.

  • Comment removed

  • @plptypscp

This is a luxury hybrid, and the price corresponds to that market (which probably can still afford expensive cars)

Not aimed at us, middle class income.

  • hmm, and for changing the battery, hon much would that cost?

  • @ElPumaMex Well this Sporty Luxury electric car, not a Nissan Leaf or Honda's electric car. This car is great to see and maybe to own if you had the money. I was looking a Popular Science magazine and was just amazed that about 1600 customers have preordered the car at 88,000 dollars. Talk about buying a Bmw or Mercedes Benz Luxury cars. Though it is great to see that our future is finding better ways to produce other source of energy for transportation than using fossil fuels.

  • @plptypscp

I'm surprised they aren't selling for $220,000... because they could.

  • @DackIsBack i dont think anyone would buy.... and i dont think theyve sold many of them.....

  • @DackIsBack don't give them ideas.....;)

  • I just came

  • 2 words. Do, and Want!

  • I like the Tesla Roadster more.

  • Sexy car, I hope it works out and its a logical solution to electric cars being for panzies

  • my dream car!!

  • My next car!

  • hey im from denmark and i am friend with henrik fiskers nephew and that is true

  • sorry forgot to add: much greater range, 7 seats, 17 inch touchscreen and humugous cargo space

  • major flaw in the video:

Henrik fisker didnt invest Li-Ion batteries, and was also not the first one to put them in a car.

It also wasnt his idea to use huge-torque electric motors to power cars.

    major flaw in most comments:

the competition for this car is not the tesla roadster, its the tesla model s, which isnt QUITE as beautful, but cheaper, more fuel efficient (0l/100km), and faster.

    the roadster is already outdated

  • I have seen the 7-seater Tesla prototype. nothing to brag home about, with 2 small kids completing the 7 and facing back ! (??)

The Karma and that Tesla prototype are for completely different consumer markets.

BTW, Fisker will put to production a low cost (relative term) car in the next years, around $47k.

  • Video has two big errors: it's not the ultimate status symbol, that's the Veyron they mention (which, btw, costs many times more). And, the 0-60 time is 5.8 seconds only if you turn off electric-only "stealth" mode. In stealth mode it's over 7 seconds.

The bit at the end about "think about what you'll save on gasoline" is just silly. The price is based on car-as-fashion-statement, a la the Jaguar etc that are the Karma's competition.

  • Those are not "big errors". The Karma is the status symbol for a hybrid car, much better looking than any hybrid out there.

And so what if the 0-60 time needs the IC engine running? I fail to see the error or big deal.

  • The error was that they said it did 0-60 in "under six seconds" while "using no gasoline". Got to burn some gasoline to get those times. Not sure why; maybe there's a current limit in the battery system. I believe Fisker uses an EnerDel pack, but I don't know the specs on that pack.

They said "ultimate status symbol" without qualifier. If they had said "ultimate hybrid status symbol", I would be fine with that statement. :-)

  • Nice car great designer, but they put GM engine in it Thas real shame... I like this one better than Tesla and its cheaper to

  • What is so wrong about the GM engine in it?? Are you just saying that out of disdain for anything GM?

  • Nothing fundamentally wrong with the GM engine; it should last OK given that it's going to run at constant speed, and only when being used as a generator.

I like the Tesla drive system design better overall myself (because internal combustion engines are so klunky), but the limited electric-only range on the Tesla is a problem for me.

  • So nothing wrong with the GM engine, we both agree then.

You like Tesla because combustion engines are "so klunky"?? People love the sound of IC engines, and that is why sound is being added to the hybrid/electric cars.

  • Amazing car!!

My parents pre-ordered one and they said the base MSRP was $87,900 and that we should receive it from July-August!!!!

  • so, the car does 100 mpg but costs $88,000 wow that big savings!!!! that is if you car is still running after the amount of years it take to get your investment back.

  • I think I'm in love. Finally, a car that's green but is still sexy with tons of balls. One of these in navy blue and an electric blue 62 Impala SS (409, dual-quads, dual exhaust, 4 on the floor) and my life will be complete.

  • Me too!

  • Lijkt mij een gave wagen. Past bij deze tijd. Als ik geld heb zodat ik er een kan betalen zou ik de aanschaf overwegen.

  • i concur

  • im buying one

  • me 2 wen do u get urz?, they said spring for me.
