The problem with the whole Tommy/Eric in Ace's/Peter's makeup is this.. gene and Paul have deluded themselves into thinking that we the fans actually think Spaceman and Catman when we see the makeup. But we were not introduced to those names really until Kiss meets the Phantom, we grew up KNOWING that they were Ace and Peter. Therefore, when we see Tommy and Eric, we think, "Hey! Why are they not using their own makeup?" Hell, Even the Dolls were named after the members, not the characters.

Every member of KISS understands music and that's why kiss is as good as they are. They all understand that you don't need to hit a million notes a minute to be a good musicion. What KISS was (and is) is a marketing machine. What I objected to here was the fact that Ace had the crowd going with some great old songs, and Gene has to butt in and whine because they're not playing all of HIS hits. I can see why Ace and Peter have jumped ship. Together, they are legend, divided they suck.

The problem with the whole Tommy/Eric in Ace's/Peter's makeup is this.. gene and Paul have deluded themselves into thinking that we the fans actually think Spaceman and Catman when we see the makeup. But we were not introduced to those names really until Kiss meets the Phantom, we grew up KNOWING that they were Ace and Peter. Therefore, when we see Tommy and Eric, we think, "Hey! Why are they not using their own makeup?" Hell, Even the Dolls were named after the members, not the characters.

Gene has admitted that musicly he can't compete with Paul and company. He always called himself a entertainer and a businessman. I don't think he claims to be something that he isn't. Kiss needs him as much as heu needs Kiss. It's probaly too late at this point now, but I believe Paul would have been the only one with a chance at a decent solo career.

ace rules!!!. have someone ever seen the other video in which it happened the same, ace frehley was trying to play his songs but ,this time paul stanley started to talking with the audience and paul stanley didn't let ace play . I saw this video a long time ago but i can't find it. i guess is from the first night in melbourne of the farewell tour but i'm not really sure. thats why i ask for you help to find the name of this video.

This is the 3rd nite of the farewell tour in melbourne. I was there, remember it well, was the highlight of the 3 nights. Ace was on fire and with Eric S on drums they could play anything they wanted (almost) I didn't take this moment as Gene getting pissed off. They were having a ball look at the smile on Pauls face the whole time.

Ace Frehley is a MUSICIAN, Gene Simmons is a showman (cough cough). I don't think I ever heard Kiss play anybody else's songs live but their own. This is because Gene sucks and can only play the songs they have on their setlist. Shit he sucks so badly he can't even fake it and he's on the BASS! He should have gotten trout lessons like Ace!

@randal2477 I really don't know why you say he is the weak link in the band... He sings half the song's wrote most of the good ones with Paul, and is a great bassist. Every member of KISS understands music and that's why kiss is as good as they are. They all understand that you don't need to hit a million notes a minute to be a good musicion. They're all great in my opinion.

@Sdrumer15 The truth is, even Gene has admitted he is musically weak. Some of the songs he "wrote" in the original days were just reworked melodies and hooks from other popular songs. What KISS was (and is) is a marketing machine. What I objected to here was the fact that Ace had the crowd going with some great old songs, and Gene has to butt in and whine because they're not playing all of HIS hits. I can see why Ace and Peter have jumped ship. Together, they are legend, divided they suck.

Ace being an alcoholic has everything to do with his musicianship. Paul had to play some of the solos on the farewell when they came to calgary because ace was so shitfaced. He can't play drunk. He's amazing when he's sober, and way better than Gene. Ace is what made kiss sound so unique in the beggining but he doesn't belong in the band anymore.

He also has been writing, performing and producing Kiss music steady for 30 years. Weak? Ace chooses alcohol over his passion and fans. Ace is weak. This was rehearsed and Ace threw songs in that weren't rehearsed. Gene was pissed at Ace's ego disrupting the performance. Kiss has had great songs without Ace. Poor Ace.

@randal2477 Who wrote the classic Kiss songs? Shit, Ace dosen't even play all of his own guitar parts. I love Ace, but he was always a drunk. I am a singer and bassist and I can tell you to be able to play walking basslines and sing at the same time is more difficult than stumbling around on stage drunk playing intermediate guitar riffs. Tommy thayer is using half of his juice to play Ace riffs. He had to teach them to Ace because he forgot them. Singer eats Peter Criss for lunch.

(not exactly like he said it but you get the picture) Maybe he didn't "Design" it but he clearly gave a good bit of help to refine it.
