Nice job kid, keep playing and never stop. once you get bored of covering zeppelin classics, which is a bit hard to grasp because zeppelin is amazing, I'd recommend learning the basic concepts of music theory. this will open a whole new world of music to you and you may come up with your own tunes. keep up the good work.
Honestly who cares how he'd learned the song, it's how he plays it and he did just fine. Amazing job on the cover man. I learned abit about how to play this song from your cover, rock on.
excellent! i'm 52, saw them twice at the LA Forum and yes.... keep playing and polishing those riffs; great sound and smooth style... don't worry about impressing anyone but yourself... you've got the spirit of the song and that's what matters because many just can't hit that "moment" when playing... one of my favourite too off Graffiti... Thanx for posting...
You're frickin' great, man!!! Please save up and get yourself a Les Paul!!! Just think, you're still pretty young now and you ROCK! Led Zeppelin formed in 1968, and Page was born in 1944, so he would have been 24 in '68 when Zeppelin started. By the time you're 24, you can be just as good as Page!
all the main riff is a G on the low E string then go to the octave on the D string and repeat rapidly till the little drum fill then an F power chord sliding down to and F# power chord (i think)
Excellent kid, you've got my respect... And its good to see that you discovered a Zeppelin gem like this. Definitely try and find some kids with similar music interests and see what you can do together as a band... Oh yea, and keep playing Zeppelin, there ain't nothing better
well said steeler. to add to that im glad that you are playing songs like wanton cuz you cant always find good covers of these zep songs unlike the real well known zep!
Don't pay any mind to the thinly disguised jealousy posted by some of these jokers. You got something special. You're already better than 90 per cent of all guitar players. Keep going. Bravo!
Great to see an 11 year old play music like this because it's so linked with knowing how to play with the groove...something that is hard to pull off for young players...They tend to be very rote and can veer off into shred-land where playing with "feel" get lost. Sometimes the simplest of songs are teh hardest to play....keep playing zep tunes like Wanton, the Ocean, Moby Dick, ect...and that will teach you lessons that you'll carry for 40 years...i did for me...
really cool seeing a kid your age playing some led zeppilen and not being all like "ELEVEN YEAR OLD (or however old you are) GUITARIST PLASY WANTON. good to see some humble pie. keep playing man. you've got it rolling.
not bad kid. now go get a haircut and get a job, maggot. just kidding. just kidding. seriously tighten it up, find a bass player and drummer that will do what you say and the chicks will start showing up like magical. have fun and practice your arsse off.
just go for it. when I started I just did it because my friends did it, now I love it. It takes a little while to really have fun with it though. Try it for a couple of months, if you don't like it then, dont do it.
lol everyone says that, i said that, and now (not being a prick) im an awesom rhythm player, and a decent (for now) soloist in the blues. now im getting into jazz. no classes. go for it. its a chick magnet and a definite confidence booster
i say if you want to improve and you practise a lot, learn a relatively hard song(at least for your level).
You'll hate playing that song for the rest of your life because you'll mess up learning it but songs after that will be a lot easier since you practised(and messed up) one song and it helped me a lot. The first song I ever learned was Sweet Child Of Mine and the fast part of the main solo just had me practising forever. I hate playing that song now but Im struggling to find a challenge :P
it's just a technic part of the song.. you must be working hard to be able to play that, but techinc is learnable by time for almost every age and everybody... you probably didn't played it by ear. guitar pro? your dad or relative? i don't know... but there is much more about music and guitar than just knowing to play a song.. just don't take it for granted.. there is still a long way.. but you are on a good way... great playing, and great hair!!
@MiniJimmyBoy --It doesn't matter. You can get as good as you want to, but the movement's been over for a while. You could write the greatest shit since Appetite For Destruction and nobody cares anymore. Tragic, huh?
When I first saw you in this video you kinda portray a child version of Robert Plant esp. because of your hair. You look like a child version of the 1969 Robert Plant that plays like a rookie Jimmy Page. :)
nice job im posting some videos up of me playing rock and roll and black dog. jimmy page is my hero, is that a fender? i got a epiphone les paul myself but my dad has the black beauty gibson of course
There might be alot of vids on YT of young guitar players, but few play as well as this kid...You can't post enough of this stuff to satisfy me... Rock on jimmy !
lol? 56aviator, what u just said made no sense.......there are more videos of older people playing then younger people, but i don't see how either is a bad thing.

Thanks! What are your advices for some easy to learn rock songs and some punk songs to start with?
Netinterspace 2 years ago
smoke on the water is a good song with an easy riff,
green day or anarchy in the uk by the sex pistols is probably quite good.
but before you learn the songs you like,
become comfortable with the guitar.
learn some basic open chords, and power chords as a lot of punk songs have these.
you could also try learning a scale or two to get yourself started in the future with improvisation.
hope this helps!
