What is the deal with the R10, R20, R30? are they just the comercial/recreational designation? I know they used the "R" for alot of the later years of our body style

I think they used the "R" and "W" just for 1987 GM trucks, then they reinstated the "C" and "K" designations for the new GMT400 platform trucks in 1988.

When GM switched to throttle body injection in 1987 they started using the R and V suffix intead of C and K. An R30 would be a 2 wheel drive 1 ton, the V30 would be a 4 wheel drive. It was like that up until the early '90's
