I just got a high roller from a friend and it needs a motor and esc. I already have a traxxas rustler and ill compare them once I get the high roller up and running.
@Xeverything1 the Dynamite Fuze systems would work quite well, such as the 3300kV system. for LiPo check out the Dynamite Silver Series of LiPos that were just announced last week.
:( Wish they would have a crap load of hop ups like roll cage and stuff. i wish it was like the wheely king where pretty much any part for any vehicle would fit.
@03prinz Pretty much any 200mm car body. i have a 2008 hpi subaru rally body on it and it fits percfect except i need taller front and rear body mount posts. i use little kid kinects (I dont know how to spell it) about like 5 or 6 inches long and i just sanded them down a little and drilled a hole for the pins and they work aweomse. plus it looks SICK!
Ya Know AnyWhere i Could Get A steel spur gear? cause i keep stripping the plastic ones so i ordered some kevlar ones. cause i cant find any steel ones.
Hey question. i went WAY over kill on my truck. i have a 6800kv motor running on a lipo, and my back tires balloon. so i was wondering what would fix that? i was thinking of getter either new tires, new rims, or low profile tires. what should i get to fix this.
@HorizonRCdotCom ok. the only offroad belted tires i can find are the maxxis tires that fit on a blitz. can u help me? because i really dont know what kind of tires i should buy. like if i should buy tires that are made for vehicles that goes fast or...i dont know. im toatally confused because there are so many to choose from.
I have got alot of problems with this truck, Can you please suggest me anything because I keep on losing my tranny every other day (4 times), I am running HPI RACING 5700Kv brushless system with & 7 cell (8.4v,5000 mah Nimh) battery. I have installed that alloy idler gear (but it stripped too), Should I go with the ball differential or not? Anyone please, help me with any suggestions
@TheRizwan1377 Make sure you have the slipper clutch set right. It sounds like you have it cranked down and there's no give anywhere else in the transmission so the idler is what's giving way.
my motor gets REALLY HOT and after about 20 min it overheats and has to cool down...what should i do? or is there anything i can to to help it not over heat?
@wakjob94 We got a good 12-15 minutes out of the pack we used here. Breakage hasn't really been much of an issue. I know some people have torn up the idler gear in the transmission, but there's a metal version that is a direct fit.
Adjust the servo throw on your transmitter. There's a dial to the left of the wheel. I think if you turn it clockwise it will increase your steering throw.
They are two different types of vehicles with different handling characteristics. The Desert Truck is lower to the ground and has better "race track-style" handling. By that I mean it's not going to have as much traction roll and will fell more sure footed on race tracks. The HIGHroller has greater ground clearance, meaning it can go over more things. It's also going to have more chassis roll due to this too. Better for "natural" areas like a backyard than the Desert Truck
i'm going to retire my losi xxxt, i've been looking for something new, I dont do track racing anymore, im more of a "construction site basher" again, i have been debating between the Traxxis Slash, the Losi Desert Truck, and this, for a basher truck the price is perfect on this truck, but how durable is it? and how would it do as a basher?, also i would be dropping in a castle 5700, will this truck withstand brushless systems?
It's designed as a basher actually. It should handle the brushless ok but I would recommend upgrading to the aluminum idler gear and perhaps to the aluminum diff gear that is coming in the new Losi Strike. Speaking of which you might want to check out the Strike as an option too. We just posted a review a few days ago.
Both are pretty good trucks, but since the Stampede has been out longer there's more aftermarket support at this time. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of Losi parts for the HIGHroller, but just not as much from companies like RPM for example. I'm not 100% but I think the Stampede comes with Plastic Shocks, the HIGHroller comes with threaded aluminum too. Top speed and handling are pretty similar too.
ah yes good point they do come with plastic shocks, i had to up my rustler to aluminum.....i think it was my rustler, i really like the looks of the losi DT, not so much the strike, but for the price, the highroller or stampede is right where i want to spend, but then i think i could fork out a little more and have a DT or Slash or Strike, but i dont think they will bash as well as the highroller or stampede....decisions decisions
i have a stock stampede vxl brushless and it does instant wheelies and it is a really good basher it also has a top speed of about 35 mph with the 5000 mah battery i have it also last about 1 hour plus with a 5000 mah battery i love it sooo much it has been a lot of fun and i have never had a problem with the plastic shocks
@1f0und1 get a traxxas! please. you will regret this. i cant stand the amount of repairs i have to do on this truck. i've spent more money on repairs (About $300+ to date) then i did on the truck. plus it sucks that the hobby store here never has what i need so i always have to wait for pparts. i've had it for about 6 months and only used it 8 times or so.
Generally they're about the same price. However side-by-side packs are often hand-assembled so, since there's a higher cost of production you may have a slightly higher cost to you.
The stock ESC is rated up to 7.2v, so no it won't handle a 7-cell out of the box. If you upgrade the ESC and motor with an Xcelorin Brushless system you can run 7-cell without a problem, and of course, LiPo. I am working on a video now to demonstrate how to do this that should be up in the next week to 10-days.
We've yet to break anything on it as of yet. One thing I did do early on was replace the kit plastic idler gear with the upgraded aluminum one (LOSB3548). Speed out of the box was nearly 20 Miles per hour. I hope this helps.
on your website. is the Robinson Racing Products alum gear diffs of the SPT(Speed-T/XXX-T will beable to slip placement into the HRL(HighRoller)? cause when people place brushless and such.they seem to have a cause of the diff gear breaking alot.
Yes, several actually. Obviously there are the sedans, the Street Weapon/Rally Weapon, XXX-S, JRx-S, then there's also the XX-4 and XXX-4 4WD Buggies. Finally there's the LST-based trucks as well.
I've actually got time slated to be in the studio to record it today! Hopefully it will be live and online within a week or two, depending on the editing time (note to self, fewer flubs makes for quicker production time :) )

Are you talking about the "Ultimate Race LST2" Project I did about 2 years ago? I never did a review of the truck itself, never had one to do it with when it first came out. I'd post the link here but for some reason YouTube discards a comment if it has a URL in it.

I'd say it should be able to handle the Losi 17.5 sensored brushless or the 4800kv Sensorless system pretty well. To go brushless I'd recommend installing the optional aluminum idler gear for better durability, LOSB3548 is that part number
I'd be interested to know if Stampede sales even flinch because of this truck. The body looks nicer than the Stampede, but durability and aftermarket support will never come close.
