Throwing objects in a car is totally unacceptable - Let alone at the PARENT!
Find something to occupy the kids' minds on those long dull trips -- something creative, fun (for kids and parents), and above all, safe.

Don't let them bring toys in the car. If they want toys for the destinations (someones house) keep it in the trunk, or at least away from reach.
That or play sing along with the radio etc.
My son never throws things at me... maybe you aren't strict enough in general.

I talk about some fun thing we're going to do to distract them...They won't get to do it if they keep on keeping on. You probably already do that successfully because who wouldn't listen to someone as gorgeous as you are. Coolmom has the technique down I'm sure.

this is a time when i remind the child in the back that there are no air-bags in the bag. i then hit the nearest tree and while my reliable air-bag deploys, bathing me in soft downy comfort, i gleefully observe te child flying through the windshield. Take that you naughty little pooh-pooh-pants! Or something like that.....

oh dear, the nanny would have a fit, see this child isn't supposed to be running anything, your greatest advantage is keen intellect, so give her nothing to throw, it is of the nature of little ones to weary themselves quicker with whineing than with playful fun. haha
