  • This is pretty bad, but I still nearly pissed myslef laugh after reading scottyknew's comment.

  • death via 250 tons of rocket fuel. i wouldnt even be mad lol

  • Now Imagine a Saturn V exploding...

  • "It melts their windshields and TIRERIMS" From now on I'm using tire and rim as one word.

  • No one said "Houston we have a problem" bummer, good thing no one was actually on it though

  • Something tells me the art directors took a few liberties with making this video, especially with the excessive usage of stock sounds.

  • they showed this on TRU tv so many times , it is not funny.

  • Explain THAT one to the insurance adjuster

  • Oh, ya know, such a minor problem... just a tiny little SEVENTEEN FUCKING FOOT CRACK IN THE GODDAMN BOOSTER

  • Female countdowns always end in fail.

  • @josephamaker94 - I think January 17, 1997.

  • When i see "rocketfuel" moving horizontaly accross the ground in some of the photage, i can only think its fake..

  • @josephamaker94 August 6, 1998

  • That's like a bbq day in our garden.

  • "ooooohhh........we have just had an anomaly" lol

  • Thats what armagetton looks like.

  • damn its so dangerous

  • wtf????

  • that was beautiful! they should use that for july 4th, a big firecracker! :D

  • @Akabuena a firecracker that leaves 3000 degree chunks of burning rocket fuel that rains down burning everything in its path

  • woah

  • i like intense music

    lmao. cheezy to the max

  • wat mission was dat on?

  • lol look at that multi-million dollar firework go off lmao

  • This wasn't a mishap, this was NASA's way of celebrating the 4th of July!

  • Rocket scientist language: We've just had an anomaly of the Delta II

Translation: Holy shit! The fucking rocket exploded everywhere!

  • LOL

  • A 17 foot long crack! thats not hard to miss!

  • man, i hate that mans voice. it;s on every dramatic show, it makes videos more apocalyptic..

  • Por el momento... nada es eterno

  • That was crazy- good thing no one was hurt. I thought our rockets weren't peices of crap

  • oh my god. This was a shok for me!

  • well thats the risk isnt it

  • LET'S GO FOR PICNIC!(2 Hours Later)WTF!

  • "We just had an anomoly of the Delta II..." I'll say...

  • oh man that is horrible

  • After it explodes, all she said "Houston, we have an anomaly"? More than just a glitch there I think. LOL

  • Hey! Lets go have a picnic! LOL!

  • my GOSH!!!!!

  • uh houston we have a problem

  • holy shit dude

  • is real?

  • You broke my rocket! I'm telling mom!

  • HOLY SHIT !! and they plan on shooting down a satellite with that piece of junk! we are all gonna die!!!!

  • jesus, that is a rocket that CARRIED the satelite into space, not he one that will shoot it down. A missile launched from a ship will attempt to destroy the satelite.

  • ahhhh!!my CAR!!!

  • Dude when the rocket pices fell it melted

one car to a pool of molten metal!(I just saw

it on history ch shockwave on now)

  • me too!

  • Yea cool show! must see!

  • and they didnt notice a 17 foot crack... i mean, thts like the commercial with the dam and they just put the piece of gum on the crack. either they didnt notice or they just ignored it, not knowing that the $45 Million in satalite ONLY would blow up. WOW

    That looks pretty kewl though

  • I'll hate to be the people in the surrounds buildings when the debris rained down.

  • lol owned.

  • Yes.. the booster which was not ignited properly got stuck by something (forgotten crank as stated later in the video). Pressure might have built up inside the engine, containing the dangerous mixture still not burning... and then after some heating up the whole containing which could not escape out of the nozzle, caused this enormous explosion.

    (like a tube bomb, indeed...).

    Unhappy story, really.

  • The announcer says, "we just had an anomaly" so calm as if it was nothing more than a jammed fax machine. They should have hired the Zeppelin "humanity" guy. So what if he is 97 years old now.

  • Nobody Died in it! Millions of dollars wasted, but no loss of life. Anyways, they're suppost to stay calm.

  • fireworks !!!!!

must by july 4 , jajajajajajajajajaja

  • dAMNNNNN

thths a was of american tax paying dollars.. nvm they launch again!.. lol

  • hehe pretty cute!!!=]

  • I like how some people hate us and how some people think there rocket scientist... ahhh ahha wuuhh ... aaha ha ha ha ha hh hhhaaaah a aha aha ahha... huuuuuuuuu!!!

The only reason for someone to hate another is envy, and the only reason one would lead him self to believe he is smarter than he is, clueless!

  • America!! FUCK YA!

  • at 1:35 yuo also see the the booster on the left side exploded! well that is the source of yuor problem lol. Also at the end, you see that the one rocket booster that wasnt workin was smoking a little, i think that one was it. I dont belive that they would have all but one booster working

  • 3 boosters dont fire off. They are air start boosters to get that second bit of lift into space. Just thought I would let ya know. But the 17 ft crack doesnt come pre-installed.

  • wow. That was a huge gash, it would have sucked to be on the ground, did you see the tires! the cars that far below where melted! that is crazy

  • $45 million dollars just blew up

  • omg..

  • Challenger anyone?

  • Delta 2 Rocket: $25 Million

    GPS2R Satellite: $50 Million

Seeing a rocket blow the fuck up: Priceless

There are some things the government buys

For everything else, there's freedom of the media

  • How the hell can they say there was a 17foot crack?

I'm pretty sure if they knew there was a 17foot crack they wouldn't send it up in the first place and if the blast is hot enough and large enough to melt nearby cars I dont think there would be any evidence left of a crack.

  • wow...so mane rocket scientist and engineer gathering here...'abnormally'

  • Sweet. shoot a couple of these at Afganistan Iraq. End the war pretty quick (but thats not what we want is it?)

  • crazy

  • MOG

  • either the people who launched it are blind,or stupid.

  • Where in the video did you hear that it was an easily visible crack? Perhaps the crack was formed on the inside of the casing, making it virtually impossible to see by ground crews.

But yes, rocket scientists are pretty dumb, aren't they? It's too bad they didn't rely on expert advice from critics from YouTube to set them straight...

  • If u look at the rockets there is one that aint working. U cant c the crack but u can c which rocket messed up the whole mission!

  • Not necessarily. With some of the Delta rockets, some of the solid boosters light on the ground, while others light as the first set is nearly burned out. I'm not sure of the configuration of this particular rocket, but I wouldn't read too much into the fact that some didn't appear to light up at launch.

  • mad rocket

  • 17 foot long crack... hm oh its nothin.. launch. BOOM!

  • Let's see. $50 million for the rocket, $45 million for the sat. Oh well. This was the first time a Delta rocket has blown up in more than a decade.

  • AMAZINGLY NO ONE WAS HURT

    STUPiD AMERICAN ANNOUNCER!

  • The Announcer is actor Stacey Keach, fyi

  • Yes, the announcer is stupid for reading the script that is handed to him. We all know it's the responsibility of all narrators to independently research the topic themselves before accepting any script the producers hand to them. Shame on that announcer for not knowing more about rockets!

  • Americans are not stupid you mother fucker.

  • here is the real video: http://www.cnn.com/TECH/9701/17/rocket.explosion/index.html

This movie is heavily edited and "enchanced" with fake effects.

  • I see photos but no video.

  • I'm with you on this Sanj. You would think that $45M would be worth maybe looking over once or twice to make sure it didn't blow up. Oh well, good video, worth the price of admission! :)

  • how could you miss a 17 foot long crack on one of the boosters

  • yeah I was about to ask that.

  • i remember this, our school wouldnt let us out that day :-p

  • American commentary, infact, TV disaster commentary in generall is so dumb. It wasn't a massive crater, it was a dent in the tarmac. It wasn't that the heat was so abnormally intense that it melted the windshield and tyre rims, ALL VEHICLE FIRES (which is what the result was) are capable (and do) melt the windshield and tyre rims.

That's $45,000,000 of your taxes going up in smoke USA, rather you than me.

  • The Delta II rocket has had over 115 successful launches. Do you like GPS? Guess what put it there. Among those 115 launches were six highly successful Mars exploration missions including the EXTRAMALY successful Mars Exploration Rovers that are STILL going way after their expected shelf life of 90 days in 2003. If $45,000,000 is the price for progress then we'll take it, someone has too.

  • hey wiggleme....wheres your flag on the moon? wheres your robot on mars? if we are gonna pay taxes and lose them, at least it was cool.

  • geez must be hard to know everything? wanker

  • Just making a few comments about disaster film commentry, it's made for stupid people by stupid people. Why is USA so dumb? Because you all watch this type of shit on your TV.

  • Where do you get your ignorant opinions? Just a guess but, still living with Mommy?

  • Come on then, tell me where and why I am wrong at least. Give me something to go on or stop wasting my time.

  • Nothing easier.

"American commentary, ... is so dumb."

And this is based solely on one 2 minute segment on an entertainment show? Hmmm.

"It wasn't a massive crater, it was a dent in the tarmac."

"It wasn't that the heat was so abnormally intense ... "

So, YOU WERE THERE, RIGHT? You saw it? You KNOW the documented facts behind it? Oh wait, you WEREN'T there, you DON'T know more than what this video told you, and you DON'T KNOW what you're talking about? Way to go, expert.

  • You see the dent in the tarmac on the film. I've seen melted rims and glass in car fires. Put these facts back into play and you have a dumb narrator trying to make his boring story sound amazing.

  • You see a fuzzy pixelated image of the tarmac. You've never seen melted rims and glass caused by HEAT from an exploding Delta II rocket. You've had plenty of time to actually do some basic research to support your stupid accusations, but you're too lazy. So you're the one who is dumb, this is now boring; You can have the last word.

  • Are you telling me an accurate description of that dent in the tarmac is "an enormous crater" It's not fuzzy or heavily pixilated, the resolution is actually very good. You're really dumb aren't you. The fact that *normal* vehicle fires are hot enough to melt glass and rims means that in this case that is NOT a good enough reason to say "the heat was so intense" as if to say this was an unusual event.

  • Yes the heat was hot enough to melt the glass and the rims, but that is not an indication of abnormally high temperatures. The temperatures may very well have been abnormally high. but pointing to melted rims and glass does not make the case.

  • Oh and what research are you talking about, I know I have seen with my eyes. I don't feel a need to prove anything to you. If you want to try and prove me wrong that's your perogative. Until then stop being a dumb fuck.

  • America is not dumb. America rules the entire planet.

  • Por el momento... nada es eterno
