there is a mini displayport to hdmi adaptor out on the market by rocketfish- bestbuy $24.00. however, you just get video; a separate audio cord is needed from all the research i've gathered.
and i had issues getting the two entities synced then i went to (macbook pro):
what if it doesn't detect your tv? because like i have mine setup and the picture shows on the tv but the screen has a purple ish overlay color and since it doesn't detect my tv other then VGA display i don't have the color options like in millions and stuff.
I have connected my macbook pro and my samsung tv..but tv has macbook screen just for few seconds and then tv turns off ...I turn on the tv, get the screen back , and again, after few seconds tv shuts down again...I must mention that my macbook is also plugged to a power...what could be the problem, any idea?
what do I have to do make it work? I've got it all hooked up and all I get is that purple screen saver and a window that says "display properties" different on the TV than the computer. Tried fumbling through it with no luck. Looks like the display properties is not where I should be. It talks (?) about refresh rates and such. Is there another setting? I would appreciate any help. Did you find out the reason why? if not, this is what i think. VGA is analog signal and HDMI is digital signal and are compatabile so try a DVI to HDMI adapter directly, this should work.
how did u connect? its simple. VGA to DVI is not useful for mac but for PC. you will require two cables 1. Mini DVI to HDMI Adapter cable featuring one 32 pin mini-DVI Male and one HDMI Female connector 2. one Male to male HDMI cable (assuming your HDTV has a female HDMI port, otherwise go for Male to female). This should work.
my tv wont show the picture from my 1st gen macbook? do i have to change settings on my tv?
thanks

Same thing happened to me and can't get it to work either. Why do they sell a VGA to DVI, DVI to HDMI if it doesn't work? Paid $14 at Radio Shack.

I don't understand why apple can't make a fuckin' mac with hdmi port and than I realised that all that shitty adapters makes them money.
Trashkiz 2 years ago
I dont understand why most shitty PC's STILL have a full - sized VGA port.. like damn
Display Port is a new tech, and is close to HDMI, so it is compatible. Get with the flow..
