michael palin is prob my favorite Monty Python performer ... but my two favorite Monty Python characters (The Bishop and Mr Creosote) are Terry Jones.
Does anyone have any idea of the magazine Michael Palin is reading at the beginning (and the end?) It looks like it's called "Idea," but I can't find any references to that particular one on line. Anybody heard of it or know what it's about?
@bmiltonb The book Palin is reading is more than likely a prop. The book is actually called IDE"Ass" ,a visual pun. And they liked to sneek things past the BBC Censor for their own amusement. And ours of course. lol
Funny, I've seen this a hundred times, but I never noticed on the checker/chess board he went 3 steps forward and one to the side just like a bishop in chess. Guess I'm not too observant!
@stelos485 I found the song you mentioned, but that wasn't the one I was thinking of. I think the Peter Gunn theme is played as the Bishop and his men are walking down the street at 2:38.
@tricesimo Yes apologies. The version of Peter Gunn used would be hard to find.Monty Python was made on a tight budget so they used music librarys like KPM & De Wolfe
Old school Firebird driving clergy... should have been a 70's British crime drama. Along the lines of Special Branch, The Sweeney, and Red Cap, it would have been cool. Oh well...
"And he shall offer thereof his offering, even an offering made by fire to the LORD; the fat that covers the inwards, and all the fat that is on the inwards"
Any may it anoint the burgers and yeah also the buns, And let not a drop be wasted, for lo, the fat be-eth? be-ath? (oh the heck with it!) IS the most delicious thereunto of both the burger and the hotdog. For Lo, is not the grilling of the meat, and the coleing of the slaw and the icing of the tea the most worthy of outdoor meals, a feast far beyond the decedent and over-priced those of kings of four stars?
I was thinking about this skit last nite and couldnt stop laughing, I used to watch this show in the middle of the nite with my brother because we werent allowed to watch it because of the nudity we had to sneak to see it, we always got caught because our laughter would wake the whole house up, I miss those days....
No, you're right! Millions of pedophiles (yes including the homosexuals who invaded the Catholic priesthood) were reared on this kind of humor.
It's like potty mouthed schoolyard humor..it really is hypnotizing if you allow yourself to become obsessed with laughing at it.
We have many representatives of the next generation: pathetic 34 year old men who rave about Southpark and attack people who think it's juvenile like you do for these kooks.
By the way, they only seem smart because secularists have done such a thorough job of dumbing us all down so we'll follow their wild pipe dreams.
Any dork obsessed with finally getting respect can get into Oxford. The Monty Python guys were C students, yet we all pretend they're brilliant because they spent their adult lives perfecting an eight year old's humor (a very cultured eight year old I admit, one who says all the right things for pedantic jaded secularists).
@DejectedPanda "David Lindup Big Band - Superformance" Its on a CD called "Girl in a Suitcase", which I downloaded somewhere. The CD version is even BETTER :-)
@neosoc There was a TV show on at the same time called "The Saint" starring Roger Moore, about a debonair crime-fighting playboy, the Bishop is Monty Python's over-the-top parody.

JakeRichard72 9 months ago
@JakeRichard72 Aha, you're using being atheist as an insult... And liking butt sex. Interesting...
Well, you forgot to mention sophisticated, silly, funny, intelligent, marvelous, amazing, amusing, etc. people.
This humor is to be enjoyed by those, who have a brain. Not like some "comedy" who you only think is funny, 'cause you're supposed to think so...
Yes, Monty Python is very silly. But it's funny as hell!!! Maybe you gotta be intelligent to think so. Is that why you don't like it?
