  • I'm happy for you!!! Keep up the good work. I will be banded 2/9/12

  • How are you doing ? Happy new year & God bless !

  • Happy to see you back.. way to go with restriction.. i have restriction and am gaining weight.. i am back up 8 pounds.. i to am eating to comfort myself.. a lot of stress with my new foster children...any advise on how to get back on track with eating? anyone out there have any advise to start up agin...

  • thanks for your vids, i got my lapband in feb 2010 and have only lost 15kg, i felt like a failour, but i will now ask my dr for the xray fill. we have experienced significant earthquakes here in christcurch, nz this year also which has not helped with keeping me on track, its been terrible. so now hopefully i can lose some weight, get the pcos under control and get preg :) thanks again all the way from new zealand.

  • Good for you Jen! So happy for your restriction finally! Woo Hoo! Thanks for sharing this type of fill. Hope it keeps working for you. Make sure to wear that green blouse this St.Patricks Day & post it.

  • What great info on restriction. Glad you are back on track. I'm just getting banded on the 28th so thank you for your help. Lynda

  • I would be honest with them, or just drop out because if you win and they found out that you had weightloss surgery, then they might consider you a cheater and it might ruin your friendship with them. I suggest asking them what they thought if you're comfortable enough to discuss it with them.

Great job on the weightloss and CONGRATULATIONS on reaching restriction!! FINALLY!!!!!

  • Good news Jen! I'm excited for you. I'm hoping it doesn't take me so long to reach "the sweet spot". Up to you on the weight loss challenge. Will they ask questions why? If they do are you prepared to tell them? You can always go with the person getting their mani pedi and treat yourself! I've decided to sit out of similar competitions at work. Although I'm still pre-op, I'm hoping it won't be fair to the rest of them!

  • Yay for you!! That's awesome.

  • So glad you have found your sweet spot w/the band. Congrats on your big loss this week!! I had the same lack of restriction w/my band... difference is I waited five years to get a fill. So good for you on getting committed to your band journey! I also say stay in the weight loss challenge. I don't tell people about my band unless someone tells me they're thinking about WLS. You're still having to make food choices and work out, so don't feel you're being dishonest. Try to win :-)

  • i am happy for you!!

  • I am so happy for you. Yay for restriction!!! : )

  • Virtually no one knows I had lap band surgery including all of my co-workers and my own mother. At the slow rate that I'm losing, it just seems like naturally lost weight and I like that no one knows! Since my band was installed on Jan 31, 2011, I have lost about 42 lbs (depending on the day). I only feel restriction once in a great while with very gummy foods and eat more than the 1/3 to 1/2 cup per meal. I am having another fill next week which I hope will give me more restriction.

  • First of all, don't drop out and if you aren't ready, don't tell them about your lap band. The band is just a tool, not a magic wand. You are still doing the work! Enjoy your success!

  • Don't drop out of the race with the girls it's because of you why you are loosing. After all you had the band before and didn't loose so....enjoy and be proud!

    Keep up the good work!

  • This is a great video. SO proud of you. We are in a similar place in our journeys. Glad to know it's not just me.

  • It is great to see you again, I am praying for you and know you are going to be fine!

  • i do protein mostly..sometimes it's only protein especially when i have really great restriction because to get in 60+ grams a day there is no room for anything else. i vary the type of protein though, for instances sausage patty, greek yogurt, chicken breast, fish. If eating out, rather than waste my money on the whole salad i will just order the grilled chicken. at Mcdonalds a grilled chicken breast is $1.50! it's just the same chicken they would put on their salad. good luck..congrats

  • don't worry so much about well rounded meals while losing weight. It is a temporary state. you will add in the everything else during maintenance. My nutritionist from wls agreed. you are not going to hurt anything if you spend a year or so like that. Don't tell those ladies about wls and don't drop out. our whole lives everyone else could lose weight and we couldn't, use the race to get a jump start. good luck

  • Congrats on the weight loss this week and on the Halloween NSV. I agree with the others on the challenge. Stay in. Your doing all the work, making all the good choices now just like everyone else. You could be eating the Halloween candy but you are choosing not too. If you win you will have earned that mani/pedi just like any of the other participants. Your band is only helping with the portion sizes and it's only now just started working for you.

  • I'm so happy for you!

  • As for the contest, I did one with my co-workers and they don't know about my band--but I am a slow loser even with the band. If you have another big week in loss like last week, then I would either probably stay in the competition for motivation, but tell them I don't want to be eligible for the prize because I would feel it's a little unfair--if the loss slowed down, then I'd see no problem competing for the prize.I am sooooooo happy you finally got restriction. That is the key!!!

  • I am sooooooo happy you finally got restriction. That is the key!!! If you don't have restriction your band is not on. Be proud of yourself for not gaining all your wait back and not giving up on getting restriction.

  • 6.6 lbs in one week!! Whoo Hoo!! So happy your band is working so well for you. Re your dilema re WL Challenge - if you're not ready to announce to these friends your WLS, what reason would you give for dropping out of the challenge? If you do win & feel guilty or dishonest, will you be able to enjoy the manicure/pedicure? If any of these friends find out later that you had WLS, how might that impact your friendship?

  • good for you. i stick with protien first and take supplements/vitamins to get my nutrients. seems to work for me. i make my own protein salads with veggies at home and get it all in. stay in the challenge. i did one with a non wls while losing and we lost at the same rate by the end of the 26 weeks and then i told her about my surgery. congrats on a great week. keep making the right choices. Onward!

  • So glad to see you again!! Very happy your band is finally working for you!!

  • I agree - you should stay in the challenge, after all for half of the time your band was not working and now you have still had to change your eating habits - after all you could still be eating junk even though you have restriction!

  • I agree with what everyone else has said about telling ur WL group. So happy for u on the NSV & congrats on the 6.6 lbs. Good to see ya again u really can see how happy u r now about ur journey. You can do it.

  • So happy for you! There are so many people out there that do not have restriction! And that is great if they can learn to do it on your own, but we didn't have them put this piece of plastic inside of us for us to do all the work ourselves! I have been at restrictions since May, and I love it! Congratulations!

  • I think that you should stay in the challenge as well, you still have to control your band and do the work. Making good food choices, and working out, and drinking your water is all of the same things they have to do. Congratulations on the weight loss and continue to make Good, Quality Food Choices

  • i agree with rebecca... wls is a tool...just like weight watchers, atkins, etc... the point is losing the weight.. congrats for you!

  • So happy for you. We both had lapband the same week and I can only imagine how you have felt..frustrated and so many other things.

Yeah for your new found restriction...I believe that when we are trying to lose wt we must restrict ourselves when it comes to snack foods/junk. I know some people say allow yourself alittle..but I don't agree.

Focusing on the beginning of your meal~~ Love how you are reevaluating the way you eat. Same thing happens to me with salads! Don't forget your vitamins

  • Of course it is fair, Jen. It doesn't MATTER that you have a band. YOU are the one losing the weight. You were in the challenge when you were gaining and you still had the band....and now you still have the band...but now your losing. CONGRATS on your 6.6 - that is phenomenal. No need to feel ashamed, Jen. I am relieved that you have restriction now and can utilize your band to your advantage. Looking forward to watching the rest of your journey. See you next Tuesday! :-)
