  • I envy any adult alive in the 70's and 80's, the era of GOOD music, now I and my fellow children across the world have to listen to shit!

  • Gracias!!

  • Depeche mode the gods of electronica.

  • good questioning of god & religion.

  • Eff. Getting even a basic course in Music Theory and going back to songs you thought you knew well. It's crazy how a previously beloved song can become even more appreciated through a little education. I'm just astounded at the musicality of this piece and that I didn't recognize it sooner. Thank you, goticamedieval, for making available such a high quality recording.

  • this is really high class

  • 20 лет слушаю эту величайшую группу

все в жизни менялось, приоритеты, пристрастия, а вот любовь к DM осталась)

  • Shake the desease and this are the 2 masterpieces of this group...alongside with the other 324 masterpieces they did :-)

  • So true... if there was a god... he's got a very sick sense of humour to let these things happen in life.

  • um if he song is in english y even bother putting in spnish lyrics? i mean like really

  • Nice song, kinda early Tears for Fears ish, even tho maybe they were before TFF, the drum in the beginning should be soften a little to create a better embien for this song.

  • Bought the 12" vinyl when it came out in the 80's. Still love it! Dark? Cynical, rather... But a beautiful tune, nonetheless.

  • very powerfull track, but the lyrics are to dark.

  • Loves it

  • 3:47 and on. Man...

  • This makes me feel...like..really dark and emo.

  • Love This song

  • Best song i have ever heard, anyone agree?

  • @blatants agreed :D

  • love the synths in this song... you can't listen to this and not think they didn't help in the advancement of techno music... and i mean real techno music, not drum patterns on speed. love DM...real music!!!

  • My favorite of their songs

  • Thanks Depeche MOde!

  • !! love !!

  • Milan Teatro Tenda Lampugnano DM live concert 28 Nov 1984 I was there !!!

We had a small 500 Fiat and It was a very foggy night....

  • I can't believe how good this song is. It was made in 1984, almost 28 years ago! The song itelf is amazing but I don't realize how they able to get such good sound quality. There was no digital recording back then! This must have been made on reel to reel tapes. How do you get such clear sound on a tape?

  • @EnhancedImagination digital synthesisers of course with floppy disc.

  • @EnhancedImagination The old canard about digital sound being superior to analog is one that was started by the advertising industry and engineers who ought to have known better. Reel to reel recorders (analog) used in studios were vastly superior to CD and DAT quality sound and available high end digital recorders with higher spec. In the same year (1984) the Pet Shop Boys' album Please was recorded digitally, and quality is good but lower.

  • @EnhancedImagination , how do you get such clear sound ? Its because they recorded it at Music Works, London and Hansa Mischraum, Berlin.

  • @EnhancedImagination I'm not shure of the development of digital recording. but I do think that analogue recording still is better than most of the digital recordings made today.

  • @EnhancedImagination @galenatt I think by 1984 they had digital already. i could be wrong though. but it was probably not used too often yet at that point

  • @EnhancedImagination, A ton of their songs have been remastered. I do believe that this is an example of that.

  • @EnhancedImagination there has been digital recording since giorgio moroder's "e=mc2" album in 1978. big groups like DM had access to digital recording techniques in the early 80s, but most artists did not

  • @EnhancedImagination Remastering?

  • @EnhancedImagination 1984 was the best year in history.

  • @EnhancedImagination they certainly did have digital recording back then. Some artists began recording digitally at this time. Depeche mode may or may not have been using it but 2" tape @ 30+ ips will, for the average ear, sound equivalent to digital quality.

  • @EnhancedImagination they could have used digital samplers, synthesizers and sequenced it all, avoiding analogue multi-track tape all together. The vocals might have been recorded. Digital tape was available in the early 80s so that could also have been used.

  • @EnhancedImagination You do realize the US put a man on the moon in the 60's right? Bu the 80's electronics and the sounds you could make with them were child's play. Depeche Mode happened to be geniuses.

  • @EnhancedImagination It's just like all this crap with televisions. The difference isn't worth all the time, money, materials spent on it.

  • NONE of the SHIT they call music today compares whith this. I'm glad I lived through at least 20 yrs of the greatest music ever made 70's EIGHTIES!! and some 90's. Fuck hip hop and rap!

  • @mrrheades Agreed dude, although I'd toss in 1950's and especially the love child music of the rebellious 1960's.

  • @mrrheades

    WELL SAID!!! AGREEEEED

  • @mrrheades Settle down, dear. Some rap is actually really good. Maybe not the more modern crap that talks about meaningless drivel but rap written in the 80's had a purpose and it spoke about a life that so many of us may not have know too much about.

  • @mrrheades Why does every idiot think they're unique when they say, "Music from MY generation was the best!"

    Every. Single. Generation. Does. This.

  • @perleatsworld The 80s really was the best imo. And i was born in 1990 so I'm only an adopted member of that musical generation. Though I'm pretty sure the first music I heard in the womb was 80s.

  • @DJMimzy So you have nostalgia for a time you never lived in. You're cool.

  • @perleatsworld Yup =] Plus, I guess there was still a lot 80s left over in the 90s. so in a way i did experience it in a small way

  • @perleatsworld Ain't that the truth! I'm 49 yrs old, lived through Punk, 2-Tone, the '80s, '90s, and the '00s and they've all got something to offer.

  • @perleatsworld Music from my generation is mostly horrible.

  • @hiverious0 Music is mostly horrible from all generations.

  • @perleatsworld This is quite true. We should be spending more time celebrating the wonderful music than arguing which generation had it best!

  • @hiverious0 Exactly!

  • 'Fuck hip hop and rap!'

    what a horrible comment.

  • @mrrheades AMEN.

  • @mrrheades I love your comment,lol

  • depeche mode were massive back then in the u.s.a.

  • @leedumett444 So were they in Europe.

  • My favorite Depeche Mode song

  • The young girl died on life support. God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked but in thise case she was a believer. Hey if God required my death tonight, He would be doing me no wrong. It is written we are appointed to die once, then the judgement.

  • Simplemente Grandes Depeche Mode en cualquier lenguaje su musica llega a todos los lugares del universo

  • @ingdavega god is allways laughing

  • @hornykev69 your very true add me

  • remember dancing to this so many years ago... wouldnt make x factor now.lol a classic. thx 4 posting.xx

  • Just learned that a family friend, a 39-ish mother of three young boys, died this morning from breast cancer that returned and spread. For some reason, I'm here... "Summer's day as she passed away, birds were singing in the summer sky..."

  • @PhillyPhoton Sorry to hear of your loss, my sincere sympathy. A close family member has had surgery and recently completed radiotherapy after catching it in the early stages. She is ok now.

Hope her boys will be cared for.

  • One of their best.....

  • How do you pronounce Depeche?

  • @EsperTinaVI I think it's the french way, "Dépêche", "Day-pesh"

  • @FahrenheitJethro okay, thanks.

  • @EsperTinaVI Ask a french guy. Say it liek how I spelt it here 'Depesh'

  • @fjh1616 I've answered as a french guy ! :)

  • COSTER MY FRIEND I HAVE MANY MEMORIES WITH YOU

  • When i*

  • Wheni die i expect to be reborn... (buddism ftw)

  • Thanks alot! It's the first time I heard the complete track - the end has usually been absent. It's a masterful song that I heard many moons ago in South Africa on a mixed tape owned by my then girlfriend - a manic depressive who tried to commit suicide on many occasions - this song branded itself into my soul. She's ok now btw, although we parted a long time ago ... she suffered from nothing shock treatment couldn't cure ....

  • Thanks for the video. Excellence video and music.

  • My mom has this huge Depeche Mode deluxe CD set thing, and it's all a live concert from the group. This song sounds completely fucking amazing, both live and original.

...that being said, my mom's probably gonna start wondering soon where the CD set is. I should hide it better.

  • audio 128 kbps HQ???????????????

  • Gotta love Depeche Mode... such powerful lyrics.

  • I like many Depeche Mode songs, but this is definitely not one of my favourites, mainly because it's so uneven. It has great moody atmosphere before the chorus that just totally tears it apart. No matter how many times I hear it, I can't seem to get used to it, and even if I could, it still wouldn't make it good. Also, even though the lyrics tell a nice story and all, they seem somehow uneven and don't flow well at any part of the song. Way overrated, mesays.

  • @Pike840 Hello, you make it sound rather like what life can be like some of the time, inharmonious with disjointed rough spots.

  • @trespire Yeah, I guess. Just like I don't like the inharmonious disjointed parts in life generally, I don't like them in music either. Depeche Mode has done way better.

  • I dont want to start any blasphemous rumors but I think god 's got a sick sense of humor and when i die I expect to find him laughing ,,classic

  • :)

  • i like the song, but i love it from start to 1:44

  • @hardrekk why? then you miss why its such a big deal that she became a better person and lose the irony... if it just happened to someone who loved everything it wouldnt be the same as her not dying when she is depressed and suicidal but she does when shes recovered and happy...

  • beautiful,just beautiful

  • beautiful just beautiful

  • Truer today than when it was written.

  • kult

  • This band has been my favorite band since I was around 5 years old and I still love them.

Listening to this song brings me back to the days my cousin and I would listen to this song over and over

  • This has to be one of the creepiest songs I've ever heard.

  • this song lead to my friends calling them depressed mood

  • cant stop listening O.o

  • great song, great lyrics.

  • I worked for them on the (1984) recording on this, still a good sounding record. I have a tracklist somewhere, it makes interesting reading!

  • The Universial Explotion did pass by this Universe in 2004

  • my best i loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee thancks and genius martin love love love for ever

  • I always imagine the video for this song to be inside a semi dark cathedral, chalice falling from the altar then rolling, ravens instead of doves flying through streaks of light, blood tears from the statues.....

  • There are only two kinds of music: good music and bad music. This is good.

  • A complete masterpiece. This song alone makes Depeche Mode one of the greatest groups of all time.

  • Depech mode are true artists!

  • spanish? heroes del silencio perform in spanish..falscher film wa?

  • It doesn't get much more brilliant than this.

  • Huh, and I was expecting religious zealots flaming the music in the comments.

Guess they understood everyone has a different perspective of things. Love the song, btw.

  • Martin Gore is a musical genius

  • @darenhayes1 Lyrical genius you mean.

  • @cloudydaiz123 Faggots write good songs when they can find time away from swabbing their jowels with hairy beef barges and coating their tonsils with hot dick snot. Just sayin'.

  • @RandomSpewBros "faggots"? can write good songs? I take that to mean you are an exceptional song writer then

  • @cloudydaiz123 The other night I let the little woman out of the kitchen to do her duty...squeezing the cock mucous from my turd tamper by letting me push her poop pudding. After that I stuck it in her mouth for a proper washing and she gagged saying"Your prick that big fat dick makes me sick your jizz is too thick."

Now listen up you cock massuese ....THAT was lyrical genius not this homosexual anal play inspired crap in this video.

Now shut the cock cavern below your nose and silence yourself

  • @MrLincolnWolfe Question old bean, your little woman is blind? and no doubt suffering from a dis-associative illness between reality and fiction hence her presumption that the tweezers used to grasp your penis are her hands and that the pre cum fluid is in fact the so called torrent. Also your deep seated hate for homosexuality is really your subconscious alerting you to your inner desires and suppressed feelings of inadequate sexual fulfillment. Step out of the closet lincolnwolf

  • @TrOLLKiLLeRs1 Okay you talked me into it lol

Lets start by you sucking the cock pudding from my stool stabber lol

  • @MrLincolnWolfe Sorry old fag, not that way inclined. Your wee friends wankinahijab and 8824shyte would be more than happy to oblige I am sure. They don't have the nickname "dick breath" for nothing

  • @darenhayes1 Alan too. :-)

  • These guys are pure genius. Cheers!

  • When the 8 dislikes die, you can expect to find me laughing.

  • @CZRXCZR Huh, looks like God isn't the only one with a sick sense of humor...

  • @CZRXCZR

What if it was one of your family that disliked the video?

  • @CZRXCZR yes! I will be laughing with you!

  • @CZRXCZR looooooooooooooooooooooool..me too

  • @CZRXCZR So..... God...... why did you choose THAT as your YouTube name? Just curious.

  • @CZRXCZR THAT was the big laugh of my morning so far. :-D

From a DM fan: Thanks for this post, goticamedieval009

  • @CZRXCZR LOLOLOL!!!!

  • @CZRXCZR only if was tragic or unexpected!! hahah man, i'm evil. . . HA!

  • @CZRXCZR And, unfortunately they are 17, now... it´s sad, very sad...

  • It doesn't matter if God is real or isn't. God is the symbol of hope and faith. So that people in this world who have nothing, have something to believe in. An opinion is someone's own personal belief, just accept that. Just stop fighting.

  • I love this son it is so twisted!

  • Amazing song, I don't really believe in god but it's so good that I just can't help but liking it. I love how it uses irony Dm is the best.

AAlso thakns for the spanish lyrics, I had been searching for them in a vid but didn't seem to be able to find it...

  • forever dm

  • the part where he says 'birds were singing in the summer sky' sends chills down my spine every time i hear it

  • this song is so genius. i still think there is a God, but cases like this really make you think
