bare in mind that when these artists first hit the scene there were probably a large body of people saying that music from 1901 was much better than what we have today. Still no doubt an amazing talent. P.s. Paolo Nutini...........
@revluzionnotelevised Does it say blocked in Germany? They have some of the strictest copyright laws. I'm listening / watching the video in the States.
@revluzionnotelevised i'm watching in England. like someone said i get videos blocked in certain european places like austria. love this song/medley thanks for the post
@drivebymessiah The same meaning as it has today... thats the beauty of the song. I found this out as a straight dance instructor with women all around me "paying for every dance... selling each romance". Women are reluctant to date you after awhile, and you "ain't got nobody... and become sad and lonely". That is how l relate to this song, as I teach styles of dance that were around long before this song came out. There have always been gigolos (call us male prostitutes if you like). Be well.
This is the great Jazz sound I remember so fondly from my younger days. Louis and his gang were tremendous entertainers, and Keely Smith was adorable!
I am 43 and wish I was born much earlier to enjoy these great entertainers and their great music. A time when You can play this kind of music and get up on the dance floor, grab your partner and do some jitterbugging. Today we have so many no talent performers who cant carry a tune. They beed dancers and special FXs & If it wasnt for technology helping their voices, they would never make it in show biz. They'd be booed off stage with their garbage
@NFitalianGuy You should try harder. There are plenty of great musicians today, they're just not the cookie-cutter, manufactured musicians being hyper-advertised everywhere. Have you heard of the pop-band "Camera Obscura"? Or even the funk-rock "Red Hot Chili Peppers" for a popular, well-known example? Music and musicians are always moving foward and wanting to go backwards just seems silly to me.
@feebleolinus I had what is probably the most unique experience a kid can have. When Louis died, Sam Butera the sax player kept the band going. From 81-83 my step-dad played lead sax (Sam's old spot) in the band. I spent my summers/Easter vacation on the road with the band, most of that time in Atlantic City, NJ. They played at Resorts International Hotel Casino. I was only 10-12yo then, but it shall forever remain an unforgettable experience & among my most memorable/nostalgic memories!
Todor Kolev's version of this song ('Jiguli') is worth listening - even if you don't understand a single word in bulgarian (although knowing of BG language would be helpful :-)... and he is an good / talented / marvelous actor too (it's little to say: T.K.=50%[T.K.]+25%[Lois de Funes]+25%*[Charlie Chaplin]). Signed: one of his townsmen. Shumen, Bulgaria

@revluzionnotelevised i dont remember asking you for any advise , thankyou . and as a metter of fact i do like this song , but the new covers they made out of it r way better .
np, that advice was free of charge, ;) I think this version is by far the best. but, louis prima is so old school, my dad doesn't really like him. 60s and 70s and 80s, even today's music kills much of the 50s crap, at least louis prima was there to make the 50s a little less awful. thanks for viewing and posting comments. i'm sure you'll eventually get over the brothers who must not be named. just kidding, i was only trying to pass some friendly advice, not be an ass.
I hate when people talk bad about all music, music is an expression and reflection of your thoughts, there is no crappy music, you may not like it but someoone else will just like you might like it and someone else might not. Music is great we can dance to it we can sing to it it makes us happy, sad, mad. No matter if it's louis prima or 50 cent.

That probably fueled my overreaction. Again, thanks for the comment watching the video.

theprofred 1 year ago
@theprofred yeah
Skunkmykiss 1 year ago
@theprofred Yup.
magictouch115 1 year ago
@theprofred
Gigolo can refer to three things
1. A hired escort or dancing partner for a woman.
2. A man who has a sexual relationship with a woman from whom he receives payment.
3. A man who has a sexual relationship with a lot of different women without commitment.
Either way the term gigolo is not usually an offensive term, but rather a term which reflects some sort of achievement. :)
