  • The preacher man speaks alot of music and literature with the specification; "Good..." Who decides what is "good music"or "good literature"?

But I gotta give it to him - he could hold back the porn for more than an hour!

  • This dude watches porn. This is his cry for help.

  • The internet is for porn. The internet is for porn. Why you think the net was born? Porn, porn, porn!

  • Is this priest serious?

  • I tried to watch the debate with a completely open mind.

The Priest did not make any sense what-so-ever

  • your not an angel if you watch porn ;)

  • lol i knew he would bring up porn

  • I take odds with the father on the MLK assertion is solely Christian. MLK was also influenced by Ghandi. Ghandi was known for his nonviolence stand and it is easy to link MLK's nonviolent disposition to Ghandi than the Christian bible. History shows Ghandi wasn't violent and Christianity has spilled blood. So, based on that. I cannot accept the father's position on MLK.

  • Priest: "In the end you're going to become more like an animal and less like an angel." Wait a minute I thought the idea was to be more human. wtf

  • wtf was his answer ( guy wearin rob)..

  • @Loyadd Sadly, most people seem to do that these days.

    "You're going to jail. OK?"

  • PORN!

  • 08:38 Good music? Haha fucked up there buddy...

  • I was looking at porn while watching this and I laughed when he ripped into porn. I laughed so much it ruined my wood. Christians always ruin my wood.

  • I VOTE PORN! I can still think while I masterbate!! I am NOT a lesser person because of it!!!

  • If atheism = pornography, then being a christian priest = pedophilia.

  • The longer this debate goes on the more batshit and preachy this dude gets...

  • look at hagi

  • my Question: Father can you answer one question. . . Thank you.

  • You can totally tell he expected applause at 11:18.

  • that priest is just wasting time! he doesn't even answer all of the questions! Where's matt's "You're done talking"-button when you need it?

  • Bet that priest watches porn all the time.

  • Next debate, leave the preist home.

  • 10:00 Full crazy mode: ENGAGED.

  • 8:50 But why can't I spend 5 hours a day reading literature and 5 hours a day watching porn?

  • Comment removed

  • This guy has some serious issues with porn.

  • "I believe it and I live my life this way, and I believe it because it's true, and the fact that I believe it does not make it true, ok, it's true that's why I believe it, that Man is fundamentally before all things a spiritual being."

    Circular reasoning much?

  • OMG this priest is completely whacko... He's basically preaching, and the crowd does not appreciate it.

  • This priest is like a 70s hippy trying to pass off New Age bullshit as objective truth.

  • I rather sit in me computer chair glue to me Porn XD

  • I watched all 8 parts so far and it has devolved from logical debate into a sermon.

  • "Even the values of atheism draw from the Christian moral tradition." I'm assuming he actually means secularism, not atheism, but the Christian moral tradition is by definition amoral, because they are dictates that on principle lack interactivity/mutability with the masses (I know that I'm arguing from a humanistic standpoint, and such an argument would be incomprehensible to someone who says, "I believe it because I believe it's true.")

  • 11:13 "glue our screens to our computer".

I guess when you read fairy tales all your life, you really come up with all kinds of new concepts.....

  • What's his fixation on porn? Seems like a personal issue. No one even mentioned anything close to pornography.

  • @ThePhatIndian indeed

  • The fag in the robe didnt answer a single question.

  • @LBTennis I find that word affensive

  • @witch26071 K. Is this your first time using the internet? Good luck surviving the interweb if the word fag still offends you.

  • @LBTennis Um...I was being jocose! Duh.....

  • @witch26071 Well stop it, its stupid.

  • "atheism draws from christian moral condition"---------whiskey tango foxtrot!?

  • This priest is delusional, very sad to watch, it's as if he's selling something that doesn't justify being sold, selling PIE IN THE SKY ideas, but with on substance...he's selling belief, nothing more.

  • Dostriavsky vs. Porn? Had it occured to this guy that there are people who do both? lol, and what does he think of such people? It is the classic garbage in argument, that you should allow yourself to be influenced(which they need for control anyway),vs liberating yourself and making independant decisions as they are presented to you. In closing...Go Porn!

  • @MasterBlueTiger

The preacher is setting up the classic false dichotomy: it seems he has no faith in rational debate and so dives head-first into logical fallacies to defend his beliefs.

  • @proudfootz Too true. The first half of the debate he seemed on the defensive and not quite sure how to deal with Matt's points, so he seemingly agreed with them. Then something happened at the end to cause him to dive into arguments that are about a mile off the deep end. I feel sorry for the guy, but more people need to see this to realize these people are quacks.

  • "If you watch porno for more than 10 hours per week you will be a different person?

    B:U:L:L:S:H:I:T

  • This man is a cartoon character. I had an English teacher like this, but less crazy.

  • Although I don't believe in his God, Jacobse is right about pornography. It ruins people, just like drugs and alcohol do. And not just the people involved in it. Pooh-pooh me if you wish, but it's true.

  • @gspendlove How does porn ruin you? I have friends who watch porn and masturbate. Do they experience pain and destroy their body like they would if they took drugs? No. Do they go out and try to grope/rape every woman they see? No. Do they lose brain cells when watching porn? No. So please, explain yourself

  • @Danthepest1 It took me a while to decide how I was going to respond, but here it is: I did not say (nor would I) that porn ruins everyone who comes in contact with it. If you and your friends don't feel you have a problem, then that's good. But pornography does have the potential to affect a person's attitudes -- especially a man's attitudes toward women and sex. Pornography really isn't conducive to a healthy sexual attitude. (more)

  • @Danthepest1 And while it will not necessarily cause you to become a sex offender, the attitude of "Well, I don't have a problem with it, so I don't see why anyone else should" really isn't looking at it the right way. I can guarantee that if you went into a prison and interviewed sexual offenders, and asked them the question: "How did it start for you? How did you end up committing your crime?"; almost invariably you would get the same answer, and I'm sure you know what that answer is. (more)

  • @Danthepest1 If you want the real inside scoop, I'd suggest you check out Shelley Lubben's website, with story after story of current and former porn stars whose lives were terribly affected by their involvement in the industry. Some of those stories will turn your mouth inside out with disgust.

Now, I'm no shrink, just a common-sense guy. And I am very well-read. I realize this response is a bit long-winded...if you have any other questions, feel free to respond.

  • @gspendlove See, more often than not, the answer isn't "I watched porn and that made me decide to rape/molest/sexually harass someone". The thing is, if people see porn as motivation for that, they're messed up to begin with and will use any excuse for their actions. Also, I couldn't care less for porn stars really. All they are a whores who pretend to be actors. More often than not, they choose the lifestyle and I'm one of those people who

  • @gspendlove who has an attitude of "your choice, your fuck up, your responsibility, not my problem" See, porn is no more harmful than normal TV shows or videos games are. Anyone who decides to kill someone after watching TV or playing a game or sport or whatever, had psychological problems from the start. And nobody wants to take responsibility for their actions, so they blame it on TV/games/porn, you name it, it got the blame. But not ONCE has anyone said "maybe he was unstable from the start?"

  • @gspendlove People need to take responsibility for their actions and not blame it on things that when someone actually stops and THINKS about, really had no effect on us what so ever

  • @Danthepest1 That's okay. You think how you want, I'll think how I want. You choose what you want to read, watch, listen to or buy. All your appetites can be indulged in America. That's the beauty of this country. But I must take issue with "All they are are whores." The women in the porn industry are mothers, daughters, sisters, wives and girlfriends. It's a terrible shame when they are not regarded by people as human beings. Your attitude illustrates what I said before....

  • @gspendlove 1) I don't indulge in porn, nor anything of that matter. 2) Anyone, be it man or woman, who sells their body like that is a whore in my eyes. As for addicts, I really have no sympathy for them either. With all this information about drugs available to us, there is absolutely NO excuse for you to take them. If you create your own problems, then don't force others to fix them for you. Porn hasn't changed or formed my attitude. My self respect did.

  • @Danthepest1 ....excessive consumption of pornography really can change a man's attitude toward sex and women. And it doesn't happen all at once; it creeps in on you, insidiously. Just ask any addict or former addict.

I can only hope that no one you know and love gets involved in that industry. I can only imagine the despair she would feel to hear you tell her, "All you are is a whore."

But, you're entitled to your opinion, just as I am mine. Have a nice day.

  • @gspendlove Unless you were somehow forced to take drugs or go into the porn industry, then I really have no sympathy for those types. Especially when they use the "I've been going through harsh times" excuse. I've been through very harsh times for 12 years and I contemplated suicide, drugs, alcohol, etc. but I used common sense and knew that none of it was gonna help, so I persevered and fought my way out of the shit that was my life at the time.

  • @gspendlove Also, I like how you assume I'm sexist. Shows just how preconceived your notions are. In short. You're forced into porn/drugs, I'll do all I can to help. You choose that life willingly or by your own stupidity, then you're on your own.

  • @Danthepest1 All right, I stand corrected -- on all counts. And I admire you for pulling through harsh times, the same kind I had to myself.

  • @gspendlove Sorry if I was all up in your face during this little conversation/argument. I understand where you're coming from. Its just that when people put the blame on everything but themselves, it gets on my nerves.

  • Slavery is not self correcting -- humans have kept each other as slaves for thousands of years and still do today.

  • After this, I gotta check some porn in order to become more of an animal (which I already am as a human, by the way) than becoming an angel, which is nothing more than a delusional human mind created being.

  • I had to stop the clip at 10:39 when he spoke off mic to pick up some dust to blow from his hand. Greasy old style preaching. Did he explain this metaphor afterward? ... I'm guessing that he didn't...

  • There is no reason to attribute subjective experience to a magic sky person. It is obviously just what helps this guy sleep at night. Of course, he has to twist the idea of "truth" to make himself not feel like a lunatic, but if you asked him, he could not demonstrate any difference between what he "believes to be true" and a delusional daydream.

  • This priest is out of his fucking mind. I have 18 gigs of furry and human porn and this priest cannot do shit about it. Fuck this priest and his god. Yes priest, I am an animal and I fucked your 20yr old daughter like one!

  • OK?!?!... no it´s still not OK... speak in proper sentences ...

  • Matt turns me on!

Okay, not really. But, I really admire him.

  • Someone who watches porn and someone who reads a book that's about religion or science is environmental. The environment shapes who you are. In other words it's an outside influence that CAN be accounted for and analyzed to see the effects. Far more rational the thinking there is an outside force that can't be seen and has the same characteristics of nothing. But being rational tends to be religions weak suit in regards to itself.

  • Do atheists assert that man is no more than his molecules? By definition, they do not, as all they assert is that there is no evidence to believe in gods, but also most atheists, I think, would accept the existence of consciousness, which clearly is "more than just molecules", even if fundamentally derived from them.

  • @aido92 Learn about emergence.

  • @AtheistdotEDU Sorry, don't understand the point you are making here. Was that not basically what I was describing?

  • the priest likes to watch porn....10 hrs a day

  • @technosasquatch

    Correction: Priest likes child porn

  • This guy doesn't even like porn, what the hell is wrong with him.

  • What the fuck is wrong with watching porn? I can only participate but can't watch it? WTF?

  • Shut the fuck up.

  • fuck him i am not a spiritual being

  • I am going to watch porn for the rest of my life!!!!

  • Watching porn doesn't lead me to want to kill, lie, steal, etc. Also, why can't a person participate in activities that will make them a better person AND watch porn when one is horney?

  • Did porn have to be the example? You can read Dostoevksi vs Erma Bombeck (perfectly respectable lady) and be two different people. Why's it gotta be porn? By the way, love the blowjob pantomime at 10:28 where he picks it up off the floor (DAYUM!) first. "Man became" alright.

  • i'm an atheist i never watch porn. speak for yourself priest. nasty priests.

  • Matt won. He should go up the debate ladder. He's like Duke basketball taking on Samford. It's just painful xD

  • Quit preaching, start listening.

  • ummmmmm, why can we not spend 10 hours a week listening and reading though provoking material, AND spend 10 hours watching porn, will they negate each other?

  • "We dont know about the nature of God."

Excellent. Such a statement literally proves that your theistic beliefs, mister preacher, are made up irrelevant fairy tales.

  • Better watch that porn. Seriously...

  • This guy is can't be historian, since there were atheist before christianity. Greeks had them, and so did some people in asia.

  • why do these lunatics always have to bring sex in to it ?

  • i dont like it when people blow invisable dust at me, i have invisable asthma :(

  • We'll understand that christianity is 'self-correcting' when they admit that jesus was no god and likely never existed and begins to work to reverse it's 2000-year record of hideous moral mistakes.

Until then we can see that it is a 'self-perpetuating' system with a deep hostility to the truth.

  • I don't understand how slavery was "always immoral" and people just didn't realize it, lol. What is Matt talking about? Morality is not objective. If I don't value human life/freedom, then slavery is not a moral issue at all-- it's as simple as that. There is no "truth" here, good and bad are opinions based on what each individual values. Our values, however, are based in part on evoluntionary programming, so maybe that's what he's talking about.

  • He thinks he's Tinkerbell!Think happy thoughts everybody, and hold on!

Wow, somebody get that man his Coco Puffs because he is Coo Coo!

  • @hevyAccel Oh children please! Clap your hands if you believe! "I do believe in fairies! I do! I do!"

  • spending your whole life telling people your friends with an invisible dude sounds like a very healthy way to live.

  • Comment removed

  • GAHHH! The guy that coughs over Matt obscured alot of they key wording he's using and I don't understand his answers around 6:00-6:45! It's driving me insane!

  • "Its true therefore I believe it" (9:30). Circular logic.

  • Dude whack it out and then your sexual tension is gone and you can FOCUS and accomplish all manner of things. I was such an astute thinker and so very bright before i met "Horny". After a while i figured out that all you need to do is take care of that horny and then the mind is free to think again!! I Repudiate! Your claims that masturbation is meritless and harms the soul. You are yet again trying to hammer reality to fit the constraints of an ancient tribal text.

  • A priest talking about reality ???

I see them all as delusional & dangerous. Not to mention most of them are in denial of their homosexuality to the point that they dedicated their lives to a magic sky daddy due to fear of being eternally tortured by that magic sky daddy's former employee.

  • @bodeezy God is beyond the common atheistic notion of a "sky daddy." That's probably why no atheist can comprehend God. They're all caught up with this idea that the God they dismiss is this "sky daddy" which obviously has its roots in Hebraism, Christianity, and Islam. I've never seen Matt Dillahunty retort those religions which have had their origins in India, most particularly, Hinduism itself and to a lesser extent, Buddhism.

  • @Hanahleia I have seen Matt break those religions down also, he just happens to be a former christian & that happens to be the most dominant religion in the U.S. A god is NOT beyond atheists' comprehension. . . how can you make such a ridiculous generalization? Most outspoken atheists are former believers. Some, like Matt, were very devout until researching religion. Show us proof of a god & we will examine it. If it is real we will accept it. Show us the evidence.

  • @bodeezy You missed my point. I've went through the back-log of uploads, and Hinduism is never addressed. What I'm saying is that the God of Hinduism is a very different notion than the God of Christianity, which is the God that most atheists reject. Do you know a single thing about Hinduism? I truly doubt it. Religion is a word that can become confusing, because people think when they hear that Hinduism is a religion, they think it's something like Christianity, when it's COMPLETELY different.

  • @Hanahleia do you have brain damage? you say atheists can't comprehend God, but you can? do you have access to special information that we don't? please share your wealth of information with us heathens so we can pretend too.

  • @bodeezy Yeah, I don't understand why the devil tortures people that sin... Doesn't the devil like that people sin? Shouldn't he praise the people who sin with whores and drugs, parties, porn and w/e christians think is evil? The devil is torturing the "bad guys", doesn't that hypothetically make him the good guy? He's punishing evil after all... lol

  • You don't become a bad person watching porn.

You become a lover of people!

    *nudge* *nudge* *wink* *wink*.

  • At 9:30 there is a perfect example of circular reasoning.

  • Did he just pick up imaginary sand and blow it at everyone?

  • It's funny how he calls himself an Orthodox priest, yet he's all about reformation. Which, as Matt's correctly pointed out, has only been occuring because of the secular morality.

  • Wait a minute, he doesn't believe in a talking snake, adam or eve in a literal sense but he believes that we where created from dirt?

  • "Okay?" NO. It isn't ok. It's a load of nonsense, you orthodox dipshit.

  • If this guy knew anything about art he'd know porn and naked people was some of the first material we drew/painted. I mean come on, even the ancient Egyptians had sexual art. I remember seeing a documentary on it, though the name escapes me.

  • Hey hey..hey now...nothing wrong with a little porn now n then.

  • I lost the account of "I believe" he repeats over and over during the debate..

  • I think this would've been a more fruitful debate if Jacobse were less reliant on going into a groan-worthy Sermon Mode when answering questions. Saying something louder or repeatedly, or relying on pretty language (angels!), does not augment insight. Actually, I wish there'd been an elaboration on the reasonableness of art (I'm wondering why religions or their texts can be said to be more valid than the truths I might perceive in, say, a poem or song).

  • I wish he would stop bringing up MLK. MLK and especially Coretta were, in many ways, working AGAINST prevailing Christian morality. Essentially, they used the Baptist churches in order to bolster grass-roots action and cooperation toward injustice. For fucks sake, the bible point-blank says that slaves should obey their masters - not to mention what it says about gays. The Kings actually considered going to a UU (mainly rationalist) church, but knew they couldn't start a revolution there.

  • The Father keeps trying to tie science to Christianity. Ancient Greece is the home of the beginnings of science. Rational thought began there, not in the slums of the church controlled world.

  • seems to me like the theist has some trouble actually making his point. he just stumbles around a bunch of rhetoric and reverse psychology (it has to be reverse psychology, he frequently says things like "i'm not SAYING atheists are evil, they certainly aren't!") i mean i cant find a single point made by him in the entirety of the time i forced myself to watch him. he's no more intelligent than anyone other theist on this argument so i wonder why he was chosen in the first place

  • Father Hans keeps saying "The Atheist." He does realize Matt has a name right?

  • @Aquarius012988

Saying "the atheist" when referring to Matt helps him to avoid putting a face on atheists so that he can continue to make these sweeping claims about the inhumanity of atheism.

  • I think in the end Father Hans failed to demonstrate or substantiate the value of Christian tradition as anything other then selectively viewing the past.

  • Damn that Theist went fucking nuts towards the end of the debate..

  • The guy is preaching a lot and evading the questions like crazy.

  • I choose porn.

  • Well he is right, I would be a different person if I watched porn 10 hrs a week vs. reading a novel. I would be a much happier and satisfied human if I watched the porn for 10 hours a week.

  • He knows for a fact that we all watch porn ten hours a week? I don't think so.

  • @AnnRKey

I don't think Hans Jacobse is interested in facts at all.

  • @MrFacet Indeed.

  • Good music? What is good music? I happen to like some of Madonna's work. I prefer Tool though.

  • 10:50 - it leads to things like the inquisition. D:

  • I'd love to see what the Father has hidden on his computer, lol.

  • Hans is a pain in the arse to listen to. Debate format but it always sounds like he's preaching to you like spelling out b.u.l.l.s.h.i.t. and telling you that it spells cake, but it's bullshit and there's no way to turn it into cake. But if you don't spell it out for yourself you're going to be eating bullshit.

  • @aadoza very very well put. he is just being a polatic and not answering questions directly and getting off topic and preaching. he is trying to change definitions. religion or not you cannot change gravity, it will always be gravity and nothing else. my question would be, how can these things change over time, how can religion change overtime whats right or wrong. isnt the word of god suposed to be written in stone not constantly changing over the years. isnt that a sign right there.

  • @aadoza The cake is a lie. And bullshit.

  • can the priest not hear himself talk ? I feel like if he could he would stop. It's kind of embarressing.

  • Watching porn is human. And to my subjectivity, beautiful. BY the way, this coming from a virgin priest little bitch who believes in talking snakes and flying dead zombie jews.

It literally is like taking advice from a person who speaks with utter conviction of Zeus and his lightning arrows. It's exactly the same comparison. Except the Greeks' mythology is MORE credible. At least they KNEW what their god looks like. Christians do not.

  • repudiate?

  • I feel like I'm at a church being preached to whenever he talks.

  • @exmerion

I agree. I have to admit Im a bit dissapointed with Matt. This priest preaches nothing but subjectivity, and not really debating Matt.

When will atheists (such as Hitchens) finally grow some balls and just let rip. Recently debates between ' the bananaman' and Thunderfoot, have been sub-par. There is a miriad of 'ammunition' which atheists have against theists. It's called reason, and reality, let alone logic. I wish they'd use it more.

  • I love when a Christian (or anyone) says something like, "Well, everyone does X (in this case, X = 'watches porn')."

It's an accidental admission that they do X all the time (it's so common in their own life to the point that they just assume that it's part of everyone's life). So, in this case, we can safely assume that this priest spends 10+ hours a week watching porn.

  • "How does beauty and music determine someone's morality?"

Hans Jacobse = "Distract them with porn, and then simply make assertions."

  • If religion has all of "the answers" why do religious people dodge all of the questions?

  • Wait... watching porn is to deny something fundamental about yourself??

This guy gets everything ass backwards the whole way through, to REFUSE to watch porn is to deny something fundamental about yourself.

  • I've read Dostoyevsky AND I've watched porn. You can actually do both, father. Nice attempt at instilling guilt into the audience, but that doesn't work unless one already believes that watching porn is immoral. You fail, ONCE AGAIN!

  • painful

  • Dostoyevsky vs. porn? We don't have to choose. We can have it all! XD

  • We are not just molecules but a divine burp trying to become angels.....what!!

  • Finally Humans are animals and angels probably do not exist.

  • COMPUTERS DON'T WORK THAT WAY!!! If you glue a screen to a computer nothing will happen. Also porn is awesome, and I've always thought Chekhov was a much better writer than Dostoevsky.

  • I hate the appeal to authority argument. Yes Martin Luther King was a Christian and claimed that informed his views. So what? Mohandis Gandhi was a Hindu, did that mean that Hinduism has a mechanism to correct others?

  • I'm confused.. Is the Father here to preach or debate?

  • @etatauri He's here to preach. They're always here to preach. There is no debate with the religious.

  • @etatauri all religious intend to do is preach when they come to debate

  • @etatauri preach.

  • @etatauri I like the end when he's yelling, "Listen to me!" That doesn't smack of desperation at all.

  • I'm shocked that the Muslim thinks his religion has all the right answers......

  • The Priest seems obsessed with porn.

  • @OnTheFritz602 The hilarious part was that his accusing everyone of watching porn is a tacit admission of his own porn habit. Is he saying everyone but him watches porn?

  • The great developments in science came when religion lost its power.

  • ...he is, in short, a charlatan. he's just not very good at it.

  • @ThePassiveFist he kinda blew his cover when he brought up hitler and porn.

  • The father uses vocal techniques (badly, i might add) to try to draw the listener to his side subconsciously. his repeated use of the word "ok?" at the end of many sentences is designed to lead the listener to agree with him on the 'little' points he makes, and is used to establish a general, overall feeling of agreeableness to the speaker's voice. what he is saying is, on the whole, total gibberish. but his speech patterns, his mannerisms all attempt to convey to the listener a sense of truth.

  • Oh so that explains it. God must've been suffering from halitosis when he blew souls into some people.

  • lolol that minute where he talked about porn i loled my ass off
