  • Steven is dead. Timmy White, the child he saved, died too young at the age of 35. So much tragedy. The only bright spot is that Parnell finally died in 2008. Hopefully Steven and Timmy are at peace now. Parnell, maybe not so much so.

  • Thanks for posting this movie. Very sad story. This family was really dysfunctional. Cary Stayner was already strange when he was a kid. The kidnapping was not what caused him to be this way.

  • Steven Stayner left behind 2 Children,

And a Family who loved him...

His Brother Cary Stayner is a Serial Killer (Yosmite)

And Did It Becauz He Wanted A Movie Deal Like Steven Had.. (Can We Say Pathetic?)

&& Kenneth Parrnell is back in Prison he was let go adventually after this,

And was re-arrested for buying a young boy over seas, and found all kinds of

"Photos and Toys!" same stuff Steven Went through..

    - - RIP Steven Stayner: Yur A Hero and Fighter To Ppl && Esp To Ppl You Saved! <3<3 - -

  • This story haunts me. If there is a God, why would he allow this child to be put on earth to be tortured day after day? And then allow for the horrible death he suffered at the hands of someone who couldn't be bothered to stop drinking before he got behind the wheel of a car? Awful and so, so disturbing. The kidnapper--the women who would participate--all sick, twisted minds. Poor Steven. Poor souls who suffer in these ways.

  • @teeleecee

Just glad Steven had 10 years of true love with Jody .I know it aint alot but yeh was loved and had children achieved so much in little time .But it haunts me this movie to just heartbreaking

  • This movie is paramount for child safety. In my neighboorhood(which is bad) parents allow 5 and 6 yr olds to walk home from school alone. As painful as child abduction is these parents will learn one HELL of a lesson in life. A lesson that could easily have been avoided with a little responsabillity and maturity. Also, these parents I mentioned are of course teenage parents who treat thier kids like shit because they have to be parents and can't get drunk and high and party.

  • R.I.P Steven stayner xx

  • easy to be mislead

  • Things were much different in the 70's. it wasn't unusual at that time for parents to let their children walk home from school by themselves, go to friends houses unsupervised etc. It really wasn't until John Walsh's son was abducted and murdered that people were really made aware that this could happen to their child and how important it is to teach your child their address and phone number and how to ask for help if they get into trouble.

  • When i was young i used to nag my mum to let me walk home by myself, and her answer was always "its not you i dont trust, its everyone else"

  • What the Hell..Letting a 7 year old walk home alone??? My kids older a lot older than that and I don't even let my munchkin walk home alone... I'm sorry but pedophiles should be hung by their balls!!!! Destroying something so innocent...They've got a one way ticket to hell.

  • Someone should have hunted Parnell down in the late 80s when he got out of jail and tortured him to death.

  • ILL KILL PARNELL SO SLOW!!!! THAT PIECE OF SHIT RIP STEVEN I WATCH YOUR MOVIE AND HURTS EVERY TIME. I HAD MY SON WATCH IT

  • My parents wouldn't let me walk home myself when I was 7?

  • 8:02 did she say liking

  • I was so sad when this got removed! So glad it's up again!

  • i feel bad for the parents. but..i can not believe they let all those little tiny children out on the streets to walk alone. i look at my 6 yr old baby next to me right now and think steven was 1 yr older. that is a baby..i have older grown children . and they never were allowed to walk to or from school. at 15 yrs. old my girl was 4 minutes from her friends on a bike and was made to call the minute she got there..and to call the minute she was leaving..and that was 15...what are people thinking

  • Weird knowing I live only an hour away from Merced..

  • omg, I remember watching this the fall of 3rd Grade!

  • @sp4eva1 I was in 3rd grade as well, and remember watching this too.

  • I'm hoping with all my might that Kyron Hormon will return just like Steven did!

  • Burn in hell Kenneth Parnell.

  • arliss howard had some balls for playing this role. i mean i know he's not credited but still parnell is a monster.

  • okay, I have a few questions maybe someone can answer. we all know what happened to Steve and what happened to Timmy and what happened to Parnell, but what about Merv? Has anyone heard anything about this guy? what happened to him? is he in jail? did he get out?

  • @Hochichin Murph wasnt tried the same as parnell because Steven said he was a victim of parnels too. Timmy White died at age 35 from an embolism or something in his lungs, parnel died in prison from natural causes. And Stevens older brother Cary is a convicted serial killer. Cary Styner was caught and convctd in 1999. The nightmare didnt end when Steven came home!!!!!

  • What's really crazy is that Stevie was killed by a hit and run only weeks after this movie came out, and his brother Cary became The Yosemite Killer many years later.

  • @anastasia81472

it dosent say hit and run it says motercyle acitdent

  • Just watched this movie today on Christmas eve. I gotta say I am never touched by movies of any sorts but when Steven returned home after 7 years, I was fighting not to cry, lol.

  • how can i not have heard of this lol this is crazy

  • I think Steven was messed up and took himself really, no helmet, unlicenced etc. It sucks what happens to us. I also believe we can turn it around to help, support others who have experienced abuse. Because it takes the power away from the monsters who do this to us then. If we fall in a heap of shit, we are just showing them that they have the better of us to ruin our future also. Use our experience to help heal others in same boat. I refuse to allow my abuser to affect my future choices.

  • BIG thanks for posting this! I was made watch this when I was little cos some one tried to make me get in a car - the only reason i didnt was cos i hated the smell of them - i remember watching this with my mom! thanks

  • Aloha Mr. Hand!

  • This Movie I Watched Years Ago... It Started Me to Watch More True Story Movies and Books. It was the First Movie That I thought of for months later. So Sad. So Real. We all need to stay Cautious and Aware That These Things Happen. Protect Our Children From These Monsters. This Movie Left A Huge Impact due to I was blind to these things in the World. I'm 5 years younger than him. And that shook me up at the time this happens to boys and girls.

  • thank you so much!!

  • What gets me w/the whole story of Steven Staynor & the Staynor family is how much that family got torn apart over the last 25 to 30 yrs. I mean, not only did they lose Steven for 7 yrs to a pedophile named Kenneth Parnell. When Parnell is sent 2 prison, they lose Steven again but this time 4 good. Steven dies from a motorcycle crash. After all that you'd think the dark days 4 that family are behind them but yrs later the oldest brother, Cary Staynor, makes headlines 4 killing 2 women at his work

  • @DT24K I thought Steven was killed in a Hit and Run On A Pedestrian Crossing. Didnt know it was a Motorcycle Crash. Sad about the pain the whole family went through.

  • @rodgering1973 Yeah, seriously, what the fuck, God?! Why take him from them again? It's like me. I swear it's like we're born with a sign on our back that says "Alert! All pedophiles! Molest this kid! Rape this kid!". It didn't even stop when I was an adult. A co-worker threatened to call the police and lie and say I'd hit her, and tell them I'd been smoking pot (I had been) unless I slept with her. God just hates people like us, I guess.

  • its just sad how he died and what happened to his brother he seemed so normal in the movie I mean the way they played his char they should have played him the WY he should have been played

  • he was never changed with the sexual offences that in my opinion is not justice he only served eight years

  • @peterlovesannie94 Sad how different states have different laws. Had the monster been caught and found in a different state he would have got more. The guy that helped to Parnell to kidnap Steven got more than that Monster. Sick.

  • Why do all Lifetime families seem kind of... Mormon?

  • how does he not know his last name?

  • @Killinemdead1 Psychogenic amnesia, maybe? From PTSD, due to sexual abuse? I mean, it's not like this is a fictional story. The real kid actually couldn't remember his last name, as I understand it.

  • lifetime movies LOL

  • This film is horrifying, and the fact that after escaping from the filthy pervert Parnell and saving another little boy, Steven died. I cant help wondering if, rather than beating Steven every time he did something wrong, explaining the dangers of talking to strangers would have been more productive!

  • @LisaKee73 Yes it is real horrifying that this is a real story that screwed up a young childs and familys life. All because of one sick a##hole.

  • Steven and this movie are from my hometown. Merced Ca

  • Gibt es den Fil auch auf Deutsch und was hat er dann für einen deutschen Titel ?

  • this is a true story. the actual kid ended up dieing in a motorcycle accident awhile back

  • That man ver a very sick person. I hope he is still in jail.

  • @mamasuzie Hes free nowadays unfortunetely

  • @mamasuzie He died in jail several years ago. He tried to buy a kid in the early 2000's and got caught. This was his last crime.

  • @Zenthropa7 Good. He should have never have gotten out to begin with. THat way he wouldn't have had to chance to try taking a kid again. Thank goodness the laws changed after he got sent to jail for what he did to steven and timmy. He was scum.

  • What's crazy is that Steven's actual brother grew up to become a murderer

    Carl Stayner look it up

Killed some folks a yosemite park

  • this movie is actually based on a true story

  • The kids do the cooking? they can help but 2 do it all? Cindy pickett (mom) was the mom in the movie ferris beullers day off

  • even from the start i'm crying :(

  • I hate what he did to that boy he need to be in jail

  • I remember seeing this movie a couple of times and never forget it since the first time I seen it. Steven Stayner was a strong kid for surving this and helping another kid escape, and also putting this ass hole in jail.

  • The man and this movie need to be lock up

  • @shurnette123 lol the movie too lol why the movie. the crazy thing is i never heard of this and i love lifetime movies about dramas.

  • The Stayner family has been through so much pain, for real. : ( Steven had not been home long (just a few years) when he got married, had a child and another on the way with his lovely wife, and was killed on his way home from work in a motorcycle accident.......then his older brother Cary Stayner turned out to be the "Yosemite Serial Killer" and got life in prison, they suspect he is/was responsible for more deaths than the three they know about........and sadly, the parents also divorced.

  • @BlakkEyez01 actually Steven and his wife had two kids, they were small under 3 before he died.

  • I had read that book, it's so sad! :

  • This is a true story, and I heard that his brother Keri is in prison for murdering a couple women.

  • @myersemilie yeah 4 and i guess cary was pissed that when his brother came home and got all the attention

  • @myersemilie YES Cary Stayner is in prison for murdering a couple in Yosemite

  • Shit like this wouldn't happen in my country. Even at that age we are smart enough to kno not to go into random cars.

  • @28206341 you never know beacuse

1 it was back in the day

2 it use to be safe to hitchike but know we know not to do that beacuse of the risks its not safe and anymore plus its very easy to luoer childern into a car

  • when steven was getting in the car i was like "dont do it boy! don't do it boy!"

thumbs up if you did that same thing.

  • this is such a good movie. i remember watching this on TV back when I was a kid, and it scared the hell out of me knowing that this was a true story. it seriously made me never trust strangers.

  • David Shire as in Pelham 123 original?

  • I wonder if that part was true the mother and them in the toy store at the same time

  • wow i remember this movie!!!! you forgot to say he was sexually abused too...

    STEVEN STAYNER REST IN PEACE

  • its weird cause i understand why the parnell guy kidnapped him i meen he was confused and hes been alone for a long time and all he wanted was a son for christmas and i was kinda feeling for him before he took the boy and a little when the boy was living with him but when he got perverted and discusting then thats when u started to hate him and sorry if this spoiled it for anyone sorry

  • Jeeezz its gut wrenching seeing this....fills a person with so many emotions..

  • that was a mistake what his father said to stevie u have to do what adults tell you that is something you dont tell a child you tell them do what your parents says and never ever listen do a stranger

  • @LeeLee198820 You're right, I hadn't even paid attention to that line.

  • The sad thing with this movies is this is going on still in the world

  • Thank you for putting up this wonderful movie. You have just earned yourself a subscriber.

  • @Nintendoga There is nothing wonderfull about this movie. This is from a real person's life. How a sick person destroyed his life and his families life forever. Look up Steven Stayner online and see how sick this Parnell person was.

  • @raiiderhead yes I know about Steven IRL. What I meant back then was that I hadn't seen this movie for years, and was browsing youtube when I found this video, so I was estatic when I found it.

  • @Nintendoga My bad. I took it the wrong way that's all. Just that it realy happened. Little Steven or any other young child should never have to go through this kind of hell. Nothing towards you at all. It has been a long time since i watched this movie as well. You take care.

  • @Nintendoga Second that!

  • @Nintendoga I agree. babygirl11500 has just won at the internet.

  • I remember we watched this in high school. I never had known steven's brother, cary was a murderer.

  • This movie was very hard for me to watch.
