Their first couple years of touring in the clubs was brutal.. before wait&bleed hit mtv and the kids hopped onboard. Besides - Slipknot Stole their image - masks, numbers, and outfits - from MushroomHead. Just ask anyone in the underground. It's even on wikipedia. But the financial backing for their stage shows is what made Slipknot. Imagine FF with slipknot stageshow

So many great bands like Fear factory, Pantera, Sepultura, White zombie, Entombed and Obituary make stuff like Killswitch engage and BMTH sound so lame. There are still loads of excellent underground metal bands but the mainstream has gone down the toilet.
