I would not consider Chrome to be a secure browser. It is no more secure than Internet Explorer is. Also, Chrome's advantage is that it is fast and supports many web standards, but has fewer add-ons and if you choose the Google Chrome (not Chromium or Srware Iron) you deal with Google tracking and recording your actions.

Opera FTL because of their apathy towards web standards. Get with the times, even IE8 passes the Acid2/3 test. It's ridiculous. I'm sick of having to write in Css/xhtml hacks just so opera users can view my sites. You'd rather save money than have a stable operating system, that's your prerogative. Macs aren't built for gaming, so your qualms with it are irrelevant.

That is precisely why I don't care about Macs. I am a Gamer so computer gaming is very important. Apple and its non-gaming demeanour can eat a dick. Again apple's price/performance ratio is horrible and Vista SP1/XP SP3 are extremely stable. The opera argument is valid but I think most of those web standard issues will be corrected in Opera 1.5.

Apples price/performance ratio isn't really that bad actually. I can get a better mac book pro for cheaper than I can most dell/hp/toshiba/etc laptops. Also Os X is much more stable than vista/xp as are most *nix systems. Vista was a mistake by Microsoft that they're already correcting with ANOTHER p.o.s operating system, they should have learned with vista that you can't rush and cut corners.

You build a mac from apple store and show me the specs and price and I will destroy with with a system from Dell or Sager. Well regardless saying the OS is POS is only a precursor observation likely based on an EXTREMELY early build of the OS. Just in the same way Vista when it was released and more in its beta stages it was very unstable and featureless while now its the opposite.

Another reason I don't like Opera was the memory leaks/exploits(overflows). It seems like they are addressing this issue in the new version. I will definitely give it a try, I like having more than one browser (and also need it for what I do for work).

Another thing Opera has that Firefox doesn't: Opera uses ~20MB of memory whether you have one tab or 100 tabs open. Firefox uses 50+MB as soon as you open it, and uses 150+MB by the time you get 50 tabs open.

I'd rather have a nice open-source browser that I can customize rather than a browser where I get all of my features I don't want shoved down my throat. Memory doesn't matter to most users. For most users it's about being able to customize their browser to fit their needs, and of course being safer than Internet Explorer.

No matter how much memory you have, your browser shouldn't eat up half of it. It's true that Firefox is massively customizable, but the only extensions I add to it are: Flashblock, AdBlock Plus, and Paste and Go. Opera comes with all three of these features. lot of the stuff I would need an extexsion for in Firefox I can already do with Opera, like use the statusbar as another toolbar.

I am currently using Firefox 3 Beta 2 and I have to say that the memory issue is being greatly resolved. I noticed a big improvement in this from Beta 1 to Beta 2, and even Beta 1 was a big increase with it. It is currently using much less memory than Firefox 2. I can't wait for Beta 3, and it seems to be coming along great with the memory issue.

I actually use Opera only about 40% of the time. Because I like super fast browsers, I use a Gecko browser called K-Ninja. You may have heard of K-Meleon, K-Ninja is a faster version of that. You have to join a Google Group to find it, but I recommend you check it out. It cannot be bogged down no matter how much you abuse it. It's so safe that sometimes I visit known drive-by download sites just to watch them try to infect me. Check it out.

Firefox 3 Beta 1 is a lot faster than Firefox 2 or the Firefox 3 Alpha builds, particularly on startup. I'm actually using Minefield (one of the nightly builds of Firefox 3 Beta 2 pre), and it starts almost as fast as Safari. I haven't run into any major issues yet. Seems pretty steady (for a nightly build).
