I saw Dala live today and me and my family met them a long time ago and we are really good friends and i love every single one of their songs but this song is my favorite of them all.. <33
i started sobbing during this song, because it's so beautiful.
and i feel like i can relate, because horses saved me from losing myself while i was in some really dark places, because they didn't care if i was broken.
Just heard this song on a music sampler put out by Naxos Music and Emotiva. It's rare these days to hear a song that hits you like this does. They were truly inspired when they wrote this song. Awesome.
Had never heard of them until their gig in my town was advertised. Got on youtube to listen. It was good, so I got tickets and went to the show. The youtube was good, but the live concert was unbelievable. How can so much talent be hidden? Will be there if I can ever see them live again.
Great song, great singers, great people. What a hidden treasure.
An amazing and beautiful song. It keeps me calm and the story behind it and voice are beautiful <3 Thank you so much for making this song girls! It helps me get through tough times.
You guys are such an amazing group, not only musically, but also as individuals and friends! thank you so much for privileging Castleton State College with your presence and music!
It's such a beautiful song that it almost made me cry when I heard them live on wednesday. I think the song is much more beautiful as well when heard live too (:
man amanda and shelly did it again i swear when amanda came over for my bros bday and play on my shit box guitar it sended everyone in the room shivers def a musician to look up to
Hahaha, no way! I worked in that building! It's the crystal ballroom at the king edward if I remember correctly. on king street near yonge :) Fascinating how much it was falling apart, looks like something out of chernobyl. This was this year by the way
A very moving tribute to this man. I was lucky enough to meet Dala a couple of years ago while doing sound for the Harrison Festival of the Arts in BC. Talented musicians with such beautiful and complimenting harmonies.
These two graduated from the high school I'm currently attending, and came and visited us in the summer (at least, one of them did?) They're amazing... I'm so proud to be going to the high school they graduated from ^__^
The story behind the song was about a guy who was in a bad accident and could no longer speak... saw them talk about it last night on a PBS concert. They were AWESOME. I actually preffered hearing them live than this recording. I was amazed at their talent!!!
Story behind it- it's a song about a young man who grew up, and was in a terrible accident, becoming paralyzed. But this young man's story and attitude, and zest for life despite what had happened to him, inspired the girls to write this song. It's for him.
@av8tor17b I kknow him... he is my neighbour they lent me the CD you gave and signed for him for me to listen to this... he really is a true inspiration

Beautifull song. Found by accident whilst trying to sort my own vid. out...My name is Anton Dala! I'm a sculptor making horses from horseshoes though ,not a musician. going to listen to some more now.
They are both amazing singers/songwriters/guitarists, and Sheila plays a mean piano, i love them :) I hope they come visit ESS again soon , we will all miss you Dala
This was awsome, today at school, THEY CAME TO OUR CLASSROOM! we had a concert, this song was in it, the story behind it is this guy they met awhile back, he was a hockey player, and he got into an accident in his teens, and he is a huge Dala fan, and he moved them so much, they wrote this song for him, its really sweet, I love Sheila and Amanda, they signed my guitar ^^ i was so happy, i hope Dala lives on!
@Spawnfestus they came to my vocal class too and i saw them at the Markham theater :D The way they combine each others voices soo beautifully to create a harmony that seems soo unreal blows my mind! They went to high school together and have created this wonderful lil group together with a gift just as unique as any other celeb out there... p.s i cried a lil when i first heard this song at their concert
@Spawnfestus The guy tried to skateboard getting dragged behind a car and he fell, hit the back of his head and got paralyzed. . . to bad, he's a nice guy :(
It's more fun to hear the story for yourself. Listen to their set from the Newport folk festival available at the NPR website. Fantastic. I'm looking forward to seeing them near Cleveland in May.
I truly love this song, It's amazing how many people for their own reasons can relate to it.

"My horse's feet are as swift as rolling thunder
He carries me away from all my fears
And when the world threatens to fall asunder
His mane is there to wipe away my tears. "
