thanks man!! excelent!! but if you can upload another video, i think the continuation for this. Because i'm watching that in the second variation you're almost moving to the samba, and that is very using, only that i dont know how to continue with, or how to arrive in samba. Pleaseeeee help!!! i'm beginning on this!! and again... thanks!!
you're an amazing artist Nate. thank you for your generosity in wanting to share your gift with the world. God bless! i'm so inspired to get good on the congas. i would love to photograph you one day. my treat of course. please let me know when you're in vancouver Canada
Tks alot! Really helpful! i am not a conga player but fan of it. I only watched your videos to be able to pick the beat counts in Salsa Music. It really helps!! but as you say there are alot of variations and my frist trouble was or sometimes it still is, to differentiate the 1st 4 beat and the last 4 beat in salsa, since the closing (7 &8)change alot sometimes with 2 opens and sometimes with other combos. Am i correct if I count the 3rd beat being ALWAYS the SLAP in any variation ?
Hi Nate, Keep up the good work you do..Looking forward to seeing a new video soon. Never quit playing for GOD Glory because he worthy of all praise. Bless you with amazing talent that you should always glorified he name only. God Bless you from your brother in Christ. Dave
nate can you showme what is a good set of congas starting from best to the aforable i want to get a good set of congas please help me out and i wouldlike to ask you what brand do you like thank you for your help
Well it honestly depends all on how much your trying to spend. The best of the best, I would have to say are anything in the LP Series including classics, giovanni series, galaxy, etc...LP matador are the intermediate but they give GREAT sound for the money, next would be Performer series which are the best beginner series around in my opinion, and the ultimate beginner drums are Aspires, which dont have too great of a sound but get the job done. Hope this helps!
Now I finally can practice with 3 congas, I see many people doing it but it so hard do play it at home. Not anymore, the way you break down make it very easy to get.
hi mr. torres i wonder if you could breakdown.a d.vd that i bought from a congaplayer name giovanni hedalgo he is a lefthand player so am i the name of the dvd is called conga virtuoso the section i want you to breakdown for me is called mi estilo i like see you breaking it down for me please post this section the dvd if you know anything about this dvd thank you verymuch .please help me out thank you very much mario
Yes, I have that DVD as well...probably my favorite! But I'm not sure exactly what part your talking about because he says, "mi estilo" or "my style" in a lot of the things he does. and also keep in mind that I am ok, but definitely NO Giovanni Hidalgo. I can try, but it will not sound nearly as good as how he does it.
thanks for getting back to me....I appreciate you honesty of your talents, but you break the tunes down in an exelant way! the video i was talking about G Hidalgo Conga Virtuoso is scene selection #4 "Three Congas" ... I appreciate your help....keep playing!! Mario
hey nate you are awesome bro, i have learned so much with your videos and have improved a lot, thanks bro, please keep teaching us,we need somebody like you, thanks again
youcould make a personnal d.v.d i willpay for anyexpense out ofpocket please getback to me assoon as you can i want lesson 7 on d.v.d thank you very much your student mario from puerto. rico
thoroughly enjoyed these videos, i bought a set of congas a few years ago for my son but he got into playing metal on the regular drums so i think ill learn the congas, im 54 so still got 50 years left to learn, thanks again for sharing, if u ever need help with mandolin let me know, thats my speacialty
Nate. You really are one of the greatest teacher in u, tube.....;..Please +show some variation to play SALSA. and tip for playing it . You are not going to bilived but I am the oldest beginner to start playing congas , and you are my predilect teacher. ...Thank, Nate................chugarcia
My name is Tristan, I m from Paris France, I play congas since 2years with the maestro Miguel Gomes (Africando), I realy love this instrument. Your vidéos teach me a lot and I just wanted to thank you. Great man and graet musician. Go head!! Friendly
Man how I wish I was in the BX rite now, there is so much more talent out there...It really makes you a better musician, I hope you take advantage of that!...Good to hear from you and if I ever go back maybe we can get together and jam
Lol...i saw your Yankee hat and thought you were in the bronx. Cool, i'll be waiting for that video also it would be great if you get a chance to cover variations on the guaguanco also. Take care.
haha...Man its crazy how much ground I have been able to reach with these internet videos. I really hope it is helpful, and just start with the first video for the first week, second video second week, etc...and you will be there in no time!...Practice, practice, practice is what it takes man
hey man thanks for the vids! i watched all 7 videos! i have no experience in congas but love the instrument as well as salsa so this serves good for motivation haha thanks.!
well the original "Son" came from Cuba, Son montuno is something that was developed over the years through the fusion of different musicians from mainly Cuba and Puerto Rico...It is pretty much Salsa as we know it today
oh yea man...I kno. the thing was that I didnt realize it until I already recorded it, and then I really didnt feel like trying to put all of that information down again :(...Sorry bout that one
Hi Nate you are very talented musician. I've been playing conga for about 27 years now. I've watch all your videos, and you are teaching methods are good. However I believe you need to incorporate rhythm notations in your patterns. I assume you know how to read music? i.e. heel finger is (one/and) and the slap is on (two) and so forth. You would be doing your on-line students a huge favor. Keep up the good work.
wow, thanks for the idea. I guess I never considered incorporating that...But maybe I'll save that for my DVD, Cant give em everything you know!?! lol...Take care
I've been playing drum set for almost 10 years now and I was given a beautiful LP Classic Model Tumbadora(I think you're using Classic series too?) for Christmas a few years ago. It's been nothing more than decoration but now I'm ready to start seriously learning. All I have is the tumbadora but I have to start somewhere. I'm using your videos as my starting guide, thanks for the upload.
Yes I do have the classics (nice observation) And thats definitely fine for now...Just keep on using that until you are able to get a quinto as well, but trust me, having a quinto in your hands make a nice difference ;)...Then you will open much more doors for playing and flexibility in your hands!...Keep on going brother
Once again Nate you have shown me a technique that I wanted to be familiar with. What I learn in the videos I play in church and it helps me a lot. I'm really looking forward to the other rhythms especially Jazz, since I like Latin Jazz. God Bless You!
The information about developing both hands is priceless. That's the only way we can become true congeros...es la verdad? Thanks for all of your dedication. I'm really looking forward to seeing what direction you decide to go since this is the conclusion of the salsa tutorials.
yes, that is so important!...Oh and dont worry, I have a LOT of other rhythms to get into that I havent even grazed yet, lol...We got bomba, plena, jibaro, rumba, guaguanco, yambu, pop, jazz, etc...lol, just keep up the good work, and Im waiting for some of your videos?!?! I wanna see you guys too
thanks man!! excelent!! but if you can upload another video, i think the continuation for this.
