I don't get why my Bandai Engines have no Side rods where those Images did have side rods.

These are the Bandai Tec range, you have the ERTL Gold Rail range, which are the same thing, but have no side rods.

Well my Diesel is Bandai I've still got the Japanese Box I got him back in 2004.

But my Gordon and James are ERTL Gold Rail.

Why do they have that big black round thing on the front and behind? and that stick on the back of every engine, what is that?

If I'm not wrong, the "big black round thing" is probably a magnetic coupling so that the engines can attach easily to rolling stock. The stick at the back is (probably) an on/off switch for motion. Correct me if I'm wrong pls.

I live in PA and I got them when I was a kid, I havent got them out in probly 10 years. THey came out with alot more then I have. I used to get them at a train shop in Gilbertsville PA. It is called Model bon Ott, not sure on the spelling.

they are simular to the Gold Railway ranger. basicly you bring the engine up to the car coach or other engine and hook the magnits. to reliase it you flip the switch on the roof or tender. cool huh?
