Fook yir Politics, Skids were neva the best band, never will be, Big Country saw too that, Richards modelling career / utter nonsense talk took care of that. They were Brill tho
As an American, I would like to confirm that most of us are indeed as fat and lazy as you all think. And then there are a few of us who are quite sad about it (like myself), and not quite as lazy and fat as everyone else :)
I've never really cared for the term 'yanks'. It just ... doesn't sound right. Maybe it's just me.
lol, exciting times when this came out, skinheads, rude boys and Harrington, and oxbloods.. what do we have today....? hoodies.. just a note I heard this is also Gordon browns fav song..
who doesnt think yankees are overrated arseholes course the skids saw it the clash with im so bored with the usa use yur brain they where slagging americanization of britain
the digitalcollective, it's scots not scotts. we know that you turned up three years late in the fight against fascism; it would have been over a lot sooner, millions of lives would have been saved if your fellow countrymen had gotten off their fat arses sooner. we know that you bought and sold your countrymen for profit, denied one third of your population basic human rights until the end of the 60's. we know enough about yankees, more than enough.
We had no reason too get involved in the second world war. We didn't like Fascism, but they didn't attack us. However we did fund the British with supplies.
About the basic human rights until the end of the 60's.
You guys can be labeled as Colonialist, you also where involved in slave trade, you have a fascist political party (BNP) and on a general level its not like people in Britain didn't have racist thoughts until the 60's
Er Pearl Harbor? Japan had been an Ally of Nazi Germany.since at least 1936. Germany declared war on the US at the same time (though was not obliged to by any treaty).
IBM Rented the nazis the equipment to track jews and dissidents across the nazi empire - Henry Ford was given a medal fir services renderedby the nazis. He sued the US government for bombing his german truck factories AND WON.Prescott bush had to be threatened with prosdecution before he would stop giving the nazis money. You only came into WW" to profit from the spoils.Fuck American Assholes who don't know their own nazi history.

god, they were great. I loved Sweet Suburbia, just a massive tune. Stuart was unique, always could recognise that riff. One like him will never come again.
@sham64andahalf - hey mate I dont get it - people ask these questions all time - why dont u just download em and splice em together - or cant u be arsed?
That guy wearing red clothes and playing the keyboards...isn't he a young Midge Ure? WFTYD is a 1980 or 79 song and Midge Ure had the Rich Kids haircut style yet (As i see in this video). He played in some Skids songs between Rich Kids and Ultravox.
I'll bet that never got played on MTV--instead we got the Buggles 1,000,000 times. Hey, this has to be a fairly early example of the concept promotional video too, and certainly better than most of the ones from the 70s.
Then there were thre..not Genesis but due to drummer change over from Tom Kellichan to the suave, dapper Rusty Egan on the recording side there were one short.
Cheers man :)

@tonedial Great Britain had Sir Oswald Mosley and his British Union of Facists. What about Edward the 8th?
Neville Chamberlin? He didn't support the Nazis but he was a pushover.
Basically saying, you can insult a country based on the acts of a few.
Most general americans are anti-facist, anti-communist, and very pro-democracy. Most americans aren't racist (some are, some Brits are too).
