  • Can someone please tell me how to change my battery icon? To make where it's standing up like his instead of sideways

  • can hurt my motorola fire?

  • is this a root for the phone or is this just a standard update?

  • @kmack4427 It's an update that takes you straight to Gingerbread.

  • @kmack4427 root

  • can it updtae ideos s7 slim android 2.2.2 to 2.3.6 using this vid?

  • You suuuuuuck

  • @G00BER33N Care to elaborate why? Or you're just saying it because you want to and just want to be part of the very YouTube trolls.

  • Don't try this. This does not work, you'll get stuck into a constant restart/reboot. Luckily I did a backup.

  • @IPGAuto Did you wipe...?

  • @MrSteelyRevolution4 - I finally got it. I used a different rom. I think that ROM is bad or something because it kept restarting. I used CM7. I did all the wipes. Oh and there is an easier way. Just upload the ROM, doesn't have to be named update.. just select install from zip, than choose Select Zip. Or go into Clockwork and select Install ROM from Zip, choose the Zip (ROM), than it'll have options to wipe, and it'll automatically restart in recovery, wipe, and install ROM.

  • does this firmware works with my samsung galaxy 551? ty!

  • Haha just reading the comments below makes me laugh.. You ppl make it so hard. For starters this video is for the "droid 1" not droid x or droid 2 those phones already have its own 2.3gb update.

  • i keep getting a message saying cant open /sdcard/update.zip (no such file or directory) installation aborted. what do i do

  • @eiktuzinaikur0005 What are you talking about...?

  • hey i have a prob....! rom manager is not downloading....:( any slotion????

  • @jazib1792 Its the Android Market having problems again. Try again later.

  • @MrSteelyRevolution4

and an other problem...! when i reboot my device while pressing "X" button, there appears a triangular precautionary sign not the clockwork recovery menu....can you please help me out?

  • @MrSteelyRevolution4 another prob....!when i reboot my device while pressing 'x',a triangular precaution sign appears....

  • @jazib1792 ClockworkMod didn't flash right then. Try to flash it again.

  • @pengu5981 Thats the thing with the Droid X. If you want to flash gingerbread roms, the phone needs to first be running on the stock gingerbread rom first. Then you flash your gingerbread rom.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm trying on a DX, it said assert failed : *Blah Blah Blah* (status 7)

  • @pengu5981 This isn't for the Droid X! It already runs Gingerbread for that matter, just update your phone.

  • @MrSteelyRevolution4 Wow, how do I know whether or not I'm running Froyo and Gingerbread?

  • @pengu5981 Simple. If your notification bar has a blue look, you're running Gingerbread. If it has a white look, you're on Froyo.

  • @MrSteelyRevolution4 I'm on liberty right now so I cannot see my notification bar, but when I go on settings, about phone, system update, it says up to date so according to you, I don't have to worry sinceit's already running Gingerbread?

  • @pengu5981 Well, what does it say under "Android version" in About Phone?

  • @MrSteelyRevolution4 It said 2.2.1, I just tried to install a rom for gingerbread and it went into a boot loop so I had to SBF it.

  • wow it worked took some time to do but works great thinks

  • Will this work for the motorola droid 2 (TWO)? Someone please tell me

  • @makeshiftvtunez The Droid 2 already runs Gingerbread. Do a system update.

  • will this work on samsung galaxy s5570?

  • umm i did everything right but i want your windows mobile ui D:

  • @carranza480352 Lol. Go into the Market and search for "Launcher 7".

  • is this only 4 droid or can i try it on my samsung intercept? lol it runs froyo

  • plz help !! i have HUAWEI U8160 and i can't flash clockworkmod recovery my phone in rom manager

  • @sram1993 ...This tutorial is for the DROID only.

  • @MrSteelyRevolution4 huawei u8160 is not DROID ??

  • @sram1993 Its an ANDROID phone. The DROID is a specific android phone.

  • I keep getting a ! in a triangle every time I try to go into recovery. Help?

  • @DigitalReapr Thats native android recovery. Recovery didn't flash properly, try it again.

  • @MrSteelyRevolution4 When you say try it again do you mean to keep trying to go into recovery? Sorry this is my 1st time doing something like this so I'm not quite sure if I messed up somewhere or not. :(

  • @MrSteelyRevolution4 also if it helps any I just used the SuperOneClick root then came here to get the update.

  • ay ay captain!!!!

  • Will this work on droid razr??

  • Thank you and it works great

  • It won't show my notification bar what do I do

  • @checota24 Sounds like installation wen't bad. Go back into recovery, wipe you phone, and then reflash the ROM.

  • @MrSteelyRevolution4

I followed your instructions, just installed the link currently up as of 12/27/11, (Updated Gingerbread). I even rooted before doing so from your other video. But my Moto Droid still loads 2.2.

    Help please

  • @robotdude14 Format everything besides sdcard, that you find in mounts and storage. Beware, that doing this, you may have to reactivate your phone and you will lose all data. So make sure your contacts are backed up via Google, and you backup your applications with an app like Titanium Backup.

After you've done all of that, just flash the ROM again.

  • NO LO INSTALEN, POR QUE EL MILESTONE 1 NO LO SOPORTA, LES VA ANDAR MUY LENTO!! Y DE VEZ EN CUANDO POR ALGUNOS CUANTOS DÍAS HAY UNA PARTE DE LA PANTALLA QUE SE LE PARALIZA!, YO LO PUSE EN EL MIO Y ME ARREPENTI, QUISIERA VOLVER AL ANDROID 2.1 QUE ANDABA SUPER RAPIDO MI TEL, EN ESTE ANDROID MEJOR LA CALIDAD DE LA CAMARA PERO POCO, Y PUEDEN FILMAR USANDO EL ZOOM, PERO ESTE ADDROID ES PARA UN TELÉFONO CON DOBLE NUCLEO Y DE 1GB DE RAM SUPONGO QUE CON ESO ANDARA BIEN

  • @eyc1405 EL MOTOROLA MILESTONE 1 PERDON.

  • Thanks for the video, and especially that lifesaver tip about the backup (phew!)!!

My droid went into reboot loops after I installed the update.zip and wiped the battery stats. It would alternate between the red droid eye and the words "DroID" with two eyes popping up. Any ideas? Have you seen this before?

  • @hobbespublic Your phone does not have enough storage space dedicated for gingerbread, throwing it into a bootloop at the boot animation. Enter recovery, and wipe your data/cache, and reflash the ROM. That'll get it up and working.

  • @MrSteelyRevolution4 thanks a bunch... that worked! MrSteelyRevolution4 rocks! And I owe you a beer :)

  • is that work on galaxy gio?

  • cut your finger-nails !!

  • @SlawekLubelak Done that~.

  • @MrSteelyRevolution4 just wondering does this particular tutorial work on any android device running 2.2.2?

  • @Mockingbird115 Only the Droid. This ROM is device-specific.

  • rocked dude, he pulled a medical directions on a drug add, like saying it was all your fault, not his

  • the windows theme is called launcher 7

  • How did you get windows phone 7.5 theme?? Please reply fast!

  • can i do this on xperia play?

  • Ok I got it!! Whew! I named the update folder update.zip -- and when the card tried to read it, it said update.zip.zip. So -- I changed it to Gingerbread.zip and it showed up as gingerbread.zip.zip but I manually directed the setup to hit THAT zip folder, and it worked. YAY!! Thank you!!

  • Okay I see. I got a "E: Can't open /sdcard/update.zip No such file or directory. Installation aborted". Oh boy.. =(

  • Let me clarify. I got to the installation part shown at 7 minutes into the video. I did the nandroid steps. I did everything. And the phone looks identical to how it looked before, There is no changes on it, or anything...=( I really wanted this done.. My sis has a phone with this on it and its soooo awesome!! =D Let me know if there is a sure way to know for sure if it is done. Thank you.

  • I did this step by step, It all came back on as normal -- real normal... I dont think it worked.. How can I be sure?

  • @melissa483 hey to be sure it takes affect what u wanna do is go to ur settings wheres there ur call set. wireless set. sound ect... scroll all the way to the bottom click *about phone*... without having to scoll any right away there will be the category "Android Version" under that in smaller print will be ( if it worked and took) 2.3.5.... also if your running a Custom Rom u would just scoll to the bottom of that page and it should say " Mod Version" mine for say is, CM7.1-RC1 (CyanogenMod)

  • Thanks for the reply, MrSteelyRevolution4. I gave up on this combo, but was able to install the latest version of CyanogenMod using ROM Manager.

    Thanks again.

  • i hate that phone sooo much

  • @danig4u The phone doesn't have feelings and doesn't care if you love or hate it.

  • Pursuant to my previous question, I found the updated link you posted for Android 2.3.5 and downloaded and installed it. The operation was a success, but the patient died. It said the installation was successful, but when it booted the screen continually looped from Sauron's eye to the white Droid letters to Sauron's eye ...

I successfully restored it to the previous OS version, 2.2.3, but do you have any advice on how to get 2.3.5 to work on my Droid1?

    Thanks

  • @gandroid16 This is mainly caused because of too little internal space. You will have to wipe your phone, then flash the ROM.

  • @gandroid16 I had this same type of problem on my HTC EVO 4G the other day. I actually had to fix it by replacing my microSD card in my phone. I don't know if it'll work out for you. Give it a try.

  • Your video was very clear, but my installation aborted when it couldn't open the /sdcard/update.zip (bad). I downloaded three copies of the GPA15DEODEXED.zip file, which opened for me under windows, but they all failed to install.

    Any suggestions?

  • Worked for me! Thanks.

  • does it works on 2.3.4??

  • @ILSG99 What do you mean?

  • @datdudefrmzeebo Its just first boot. 2.3 is actually really stable on the Droid. If you overclock, things get better.

  • 2.3 gingerbread look really laggy. Or is that just with the first reboot?

  • I just tried it on my motorola milestone (1) and it does not work, when I restart the phone pressing X and ON button it gives me an exclamation sign and a cell phone drawing... why is that you think?

  • @eestrada001 This does not work on the MILESTONE. Only the Droid.

  • You are the best kind of person for sharing this information with people just because! I have a Moto Droid on Cricket and after flashing this I still have service and everything works! Thank you so much! Wow. Just wow.

  • @ruscard2004 Why, thanks for watching, glad it worked for you. :)

  • @MrSteelyRevolution4 Actually, I may have spoke too soon. I seem to be experiencing the "no call audio or mix" problem I had seen in the comments. How might I fix that? Thanks for the quick response, btw.

  • @ruscard2004 That should be fixed easily by rebooting your phone. :)

  • @MrSteelyRevolution4 That worked! Thank you so much! You are the best!

  • @ruscard2004 You're welcome.

  • what launcher is that windows phone 7

  • @lxdavies9 Launcher7. In the Android Market.

  • 4.48 what a pathetic, He sounds so nervous!

  • @MegaMrGreen1 HOW'D YOU KNOW!? Damnit!

  • @MrSteelyRevolution4 ^^ no offence

  • @MegaMrGreen1 Kidding, man. I may sound nervous at times, but no, I was actually confident doing a tutorial like this.

  • Will this work on the Motorola Triumph, if not are there any other steps to get Gingerbread on my device? Please help.

  • @PieceOfArtwork13 Sorry. Works on the Droid only. I have no information on the Triumph.

  • /watch?v=V6qh7lQR9FA

  • it wont let me flash clockworkmod recovery. it say an error has occured, what should i do?

  • can u get this on the lg thrill 4g?

  • How usable is it as a smartphone?

    Is it too slug-ish?

BTW, Comment #100 on this video \^c^/

  • @commodore256 It actually makes the device a little more snappier.

  • will this work with samsung galaxy s captivate

  • I do the same steps as you but when I install the rom from the SDCARD not let me

    tells me (failed)

    ?????

  • My phone doesn't work with the x button :( I tried the camera button, doesn't go in

  • It doesn't let me go into clockworkmod startup bit, what to do?

  • @nsterry15 Hold X while your phone is turning on.

  • How did you get the windows 7 theme on your android?

  • @FunkyPunk75 Its a launcher. Launcher 7, look for it in the Android Market.

  • @MrSteelyRevolution4 Thank you

  • @musicvideo01 Just go into clockwork, and do advanced restore. Restore /data and you should get your apps.

  • dude are you usin any theme? wat is

  • will this work for the mototrola triumph???

  • i had to wipe the cache and others you said to wipe... but how can i get my data back? can i do that restore Nandroid to get it back? or am i just gonna have to manually put data back in?

  • backed up, and applied the update, but my phone still says it is 2.2.2

    any ideas?

  • I followed everything you said in the video but it won't update. when I hit X and the power button, it doesn't show anything. if i hit volume + and camara, it brings me to android system recovery. if i scroll down to apply sdcard:update.zip, it says "failed to open /sdcard/update.zip (no such file or directory). My phone is rooted, i ran a backup (which was actually in clockwork mod recovery). kinda lost now. i can't get into clockwork mod recovery and i can't install the zip file.

  • @legoman7739126 ok actually i got it to go back into clockwork mod recovery. however, i'm still unable to get it apply the sdcard:update.zip. i tried both files (the one in the video and the one in your comments). help please.

  • Missed the previous comment. Rebooting corrected the phone issue.

  • Worked great except I cannot hear and people cannot hear me on calls. I had to reset data to stop rebooting issue, after that golden. Calls go through and received but they are silent.

  • Will this work on the Droid X?

  • @xLilPete16x No, but the Droid X already has Gingerbread. To get it, perform a System update.

  • @MrSteelyRevolution4 I have already done an update but it's only updated to 2.3.3. Just looking to update to 2.3.5. Any ideas?

  • first of all android 2.3.5 is not gingerbread but ice cream sandwhich

  • @jayjaycorleone Please do not comment if you don't know what you're talking about.

Android 2.3.5 is NOT Ice Cream Sandwich. ICSs version is Android 4.0 as confirmed by Google.

  • How did you get the windows 7 phone theme on your phone?

  • @HANNAH801 Its a launcher. Look for "Launcher 7" in the Android Market.

  • how fast was the phone afteR? can you overclock this?

  • @curseknight5 Performance may be slightly improved. And yes it can be OC'd.

  • I did everything and it worked. Only thing now is that when I make or recieve a call I can't here the other person on the other end and my voice doesnt go through the other line. PLEASE HELP.

    Thanks

  • @spunjens Reboot your phone once. That'll fix it.

  • I followed each step accordingly but I get the "E: can't open /sdcard/update.zip" message and I tried several time and I get the same message consistently. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • @kalasha98 You didn't put the zip in any other folder, did you?

Also, are you using the MicroSD card that came with the Droid?

  • @MrSteelyRevolution4 I placed the zip in root, not in any folder and yes I am using the microSD card that originally came with the Droid.

  • @kalasha98 Make sure that the file isn't reading as update.zip.zip. Try to rename the file as simply "update" without the quotation marks.

Also, that card is old. It may just be worn out, dead. But try what I suggested.

  • @MrSteelyRevolution4 The file is simply reading update.zip, not quotations and no double zip. And the card is barely a year old and works perfectly with other apps/music/videos/pics, etc and I don't think its age diminishes its performance. I am rooted and stuck in 2.2 and really need the update. thanx for ur efforts, though.

  • @kalasha98 Try renaming the file to Gingerbread.zip, then go back into ClockworkMod and select install zip from SD card, and select chooze zip from sd card, find the Gingerbread.zip and try to install it like that.

  • Thanks for the video man!

  • Hey man am I supposed to wipe data/factory reset? Im kinda afraid to do that until I confirm its what Im supposed to do

  • @JohnCarr1231 If your device does not boot after the update, then yes, you will have to wipe/factory reset.

I suggest you backup all of your apps with a program like Titanium Backup or MyBackup Root, and backup contacts onto Google servers.

  • @MrSteelyRevolution4 After everything is done and it reboots, is the notification bar supposed to be black or is there other steps that do that??

  • @JohnCarr1231 No. Android 2.3's notification bar is naturally plain black.

  • @MrSteelyRevolution4 Well, I think something went wrong. When I downloaded the .zip file from the link you provided, it was named peter_sholes_08-30-11.zip. Is there something that I did wrong? P.S. thank you so much for your help!

  • @JohnCarr1231 Nothing's wrong. I only updated the link for a more updated version of Gingerbread. Different filename, same achievement.

  • @MrSteelyRevolution4 Ok. So I did EVERYTHING your video says, even wiped cache, dalvik, rebooted twice, and its still 2.2. What should I do??

  • @JohnCarr1231 You're probably flashing a different ROM. Place the ROM file onto your phone's SD Card, without renaming it.

**(Do NOT do this until you've done the previous step)

Go into ClockworkMod recovery, go into Mounts and Storage, and format /system.

Then go back, and press install zip from sdcard, choose zip from sdcard, and select the ROM, install it, and reboot.

Should be good to go from there.

  • can you make a video on how to root samsung galaxy facinate?

  • @th3k1d555 Don't have that phone, cant do anything about it.

  • Why is it that I have to press the back button four times to get it to work?

  • It's bootlooping. I wiped cache. Still bootloops. Didn't have enough space to do a Nandroid. :/

  • @maniakk14 Don't JUST wipe cache. Wipe your Dalvik, Cache, and Data. Data is most likely the culprit.

  • @haiti1800 Droid ONLY. No other phones.

  • @MrSteelyRevolution4 atrix it's motoroLA :3

  • how do you reflash the rom?

    sorry. total noob.

phones stuck looping and i wiped the cache and the davlik thing and still no avail...

  • @shyguy11511 Don't just wipe cahe and dalvik, wipe data too.

  • Comment removed

  • I have my phone fully flashed to MetroPCS, will this affect the service in any way?

  • @brr404 No. However, you may need to re-setup your internet settings.

  • am i able to do this with 2.1?

  • when i press flash clockworkmod recovery it seems its gonna work but then : An error occuried while attempting to run privileged commands! appears! :( what should i do?

  • @Yuraku89 same here !!

  • i flashed Clockword ten times but there's only the regular recovery

  • I have the same problem. installing ClockwordMod is successfull but i only have the regular recovery. can i flash ClockwordMod on another way?

  • @Yuraku89You have to keep pressing Flash Clockwork Mod Recovery a few times before it sticks
