  • "Let's....let's go give that a try." LOL

  • If you live in a small town, I'd say the hardware store. If you live in the city, any home improvement, department or garden store will carry it.

  • where can we buy potting soil in the local areas?i mean in what kind of place?plz help!!!!!!!!!!!peace!!!!!!!!!

  • don`t you have wheelbarrows in America?

  • lol....lame-o

  • so corny and unnessessary. but i understand what ur getting at. light soil is key. but damn buddy....really? lol. *shaking my head*

  • You're one letter away from being Big Dong

  • "and I have to make 3 more batches now" ;)

  • what a dumb video

  • Warning: Do not mix potting soil without a mask! The super fine plant matter and other ingredients are really bad for your lung's..

  • would pertile, composte, fertilizer and peat moss work good for growing bannana peppers, cantalouope and watermelon? Sorry im new to gardening.

  • ur peat moss do u have to add lime to it or is the ph balance??

  • How did you manage to put on your gloves as you fell backwards with the full pot?

  • @VirtualTourShop Oh, my talents are many and unending...Unfortunately, video editing doesn't seem to be one of them.

  • I made this soil mix for my square foot garden I could only find regular play sand in the garden department I hope it is acceptable

  • works for cannabis to

  • I never said there is anything wrong with cannabis, did I?

'Most greenhouses' do not use perlite for growing mature plants. Not in the UK anyway.

Perlite is normally only used for seedling mixes. If you want to lighten your mix, coir is a much better alternative, and doesn't give off toxic dust, so I see no reason to use it in containers anyway.

  • GaucheGarden, why don't you add fertilizers? Also, people who advocate adding perlite have normally been reading articles on how to grow cannabis. Apart from making sowing/cutting mixes, perlite is not good to use in a potting mix. Horticulturalists do not use perlite in this way, it's people in america that used to grow pot but didn't know what potting up was that started using perlite in their potting mixes since the mix used to go anaerobic and sour. Silver sand or coir is much better.

  • @oliverwhinnett What is wrong with cannabis?

  • I have been container gardening for years.. I create a hot mix with home made compost also adding worm castings. I add some Promix so the mix is not so heavy..

Why do most greenhouses use mixes with perlite instead of sand if its inferior?

  • @oliverwhinnett Totally agree on the coir point, but here again I was going for what was cheapest and most accessible. As for fertilizers, I do add them to my mixes. However it varies by what I am planting in the pot. So the mix in the video is just a generic, base starting point.

  • Speechless !!

  • dude, gloves are for wimps...love the feel of good old dirt, I mean, soil, in your hands...LOL...Thanks for the tips...

  • @t2t3456 It's not so much the dirt as the slivers of wood you have to surgically remove from your hands when you grab a bare hand full of sphagnum peat moss.

  • @GaucheGarden LOL Understood....

  • Should use perlite instead of sand. You should always use a hot compost for such a mix.

  • @MrAndrewbud420 Normally I would agree, but I was going for what was most economical and easily accessible for all.

  • It's just mind over matter!!! Lift that bucket damn you!!!

  • Thank you, LaxRatBra! I am glad someone finally said what I had been thinking for the last 4 months. Just awful! Now that the sentiment is out there, I can now completely ignore it and move on to making videos even worse than this one, just for you.

"Look at me Damien...It's all for you...It's all for you"
