I am looking to purchase a facemask. Do you think you can tell me the difference between the t-ropo-sw, s-ropo-sw, and ropo-sw, besides that they are different material and different weights. I am looking at them on your website right now and they obviously look very similair, but one of them looks like it is lower and would cover more of your face and the titanium looks wider than the other two.
@trnorth15 The biggest difference, besides the look, will be the weight and the cost. The carbon steel guard (ROPO-SW) will be the cheapest but weigh the most. The stainless stell guard (S-ROPO-SW) will be about 30% lighter than the carbon steel and a bit more expensive. The titanium guard (T-ROPO-SW) will be about 50% lighter than carbon steel and will be most expensive (about $100).
Is there any way for me to buy an Air XP that is colored matte black? I have been looking through online stores and the only color option is black. Thank you.
@123tb2434 The bottom line is: pick the helmet that fits you best. Not all helmets fit every head shape in the same way. The best way to figure that out is to try on the helmets and see which one you like best. The biggest difference between the two helmets (besides how they look) is the helmet standoff: the DNA Pro+ is a large standoff helmet while the XP is a traditional standoff helmet.
I think I will get this helmet thanks, and by the way I made a you tube video talking about a new jaw pad system that could really help youth players go pain free in their ears and temples during a game please chech out the video, thank you.
@rzrhawk18 There is a youth version of this helmet available, as well. If he's big and muscular then he could probably handle the varsity helmet but we'd probably recommend the youth model - the biggest difference is the weight and jaw pads.
@SchuttSports which is better, the AIR XP or the DNA PRO PLUS. Im going to play junior varsity next year and i do not know which to choose. but they are both great helmets.
@vv6209 That's the ventilated SUREFIT air liner... It looks like a breath mint and it's designed to keep the inside of your helmet nice and fresh. LOL. The extra ventilation helps the air circulate better inside the helmet.
@QDizzle74 Both helmets are terrific and both feature our TPU Cushioning. The biggest difference between the two helmets is the size (or standoff). The ION4D is a large standoff helmet so it absorbs more impact than the AiR XP, which is a traditional standoff helmet. But, the ION4D is a larger and heavier helmet, while the XP is lighter than the ION. We'd suggest watching the videos on the two helmets here on our channel and then figure out which one fits you the best - that's the one to go with
I love Schutt helmets! My favorite is the ION 4D it's so comfortable!!!But one of you guys helmets is the Schutt AIR Advantage!!!!I very much dislike that helment!it's not comfortable at all!!!But I still love Schutt Helmets!!! PS.how much is your AIR Maxx T baseball helmet?
@SchuttSports thank you very much and I thing I'm going with the DNA pro plus. I have worn the original schutt air and DNA recruit since I've started football
@SchuttSports Hi I've been looking in to buying a schutt helmet and I would like to no what the BEST helmet you make is. Not considering how good it is for the price or anything.
@kkmonazzami810 We think the best combination of price and performance is our DNA Pro+ but the ION 4D is our premium helmet and features the Energy Wedge faceguard and wider field of vision. Both are large standoff helmets. Our AiR XP is the best performing traditional standoff helmet on the field, in terms of impact absorption. We'd suggest you watch the videos here and make your decision. Remember, though, pick the helmet that best fits YOU as it will perform the best for you.
Im a lineman in the pfl ( semi pro league) and I used the air xp this season. First play I used it in my first game, a screw for the chin strap broke. Two games later, I was involved in a hard hit and the top/ front air blatter broke. The air xp is very comfortable, but I felt like it had poor quality. Sorry Schutt, I'm gonna go with the revolution speed next season.
@yaqui1989 Thanks for sharing your experience. We're sorry that it was so bad. While we take great pride in the quality of our helmets, sometimes a couple bad apples get through. No explanations but we promise we'll do better if you ever give us another chance. Good luck this season!
i have had a revo for over 5 years and last year i got an ion 4d and this year i got an air xp. i loved both of them and they both performed great. Anyone trying to decide between them, the only thing i have to say is that the schutt helmet is much more comfortable than the revo i had.
@trnorth15 Thanks for the post. We appreciate you taking the time to let others know about your experience. Let us know how things are going this season.
@SchuttSports no problem and will do. another thing i have to say is that i am a qb and the wide field of vision i get from my schutt helmet makes it so much easier.
does a large facemask for the ari xp fit on and xl size helmet? becasue kids on my team mix and match facemasks and they dont care what size the facemask is ment to go on. and they put all types of facemasks on xl's and im sure they r larges. because i dont like the facemasks that go on xl and i want a facemask that is a large. would it be ok o put a large facemask on an xl helmet?
@trnorth15 No. An XL size helmet, no matter what style, requires an XL Style faceguard. Sorry - we know that's not the answer you're looking for but the XL helmet needs to have an XL faceguard.
@nick2512345678 You should try adjusting the placement of that frontal cushion. Or have your coach or a local Schutt dealer adjust it for you. Sometimes, that cushion is placed a little too low in the helmet.
i like this video alot...this is also my favorite helmet because like you guys said its more of a traditional standoff helmet and i like the way traditional standoff helmets look than the larger standoff helmets....how much is this helmet..and do you think this helmet is good to use for a tight end?
@yaboypetey17 The varsity helmet should be about $225, give or take a few bucks, including the faceguard. It's a great helmet choice for a TE, especially if you're more of the receiving-oriented TE.
@DaAZK1D81 The AiR XP is probably the best choice for a WR in our line, although any helmet will be fine. But the XP is the lightest of our varsity helmets and we all know how important that is, mentally, for a WR - to be as fast as he can be.
@anthony66363 Thank you very much. There's a bunch more here for you to watch, if you're interested in other helmets, the technology that goes into our helmets and how we compare to others.
@asappers The vertical bars do affect the edges of your field of vision but for guys who wear glasses or want some additional protection for their eyes, the vertical support bars are great. Obviously, they don't affect vision THAT much (or they wouldn't wear them) but they affect your peripheral vision a bit. Other options for a DB would include the ROPO family, as well as other styles in the EGOP. OPO might be an option as well. It really depends on what you like.
@CFloaded The primary difference between the two is the material the helmet shell is made from. The varsity version is made from polycarbonate while the youth is made from ABS plastic. The youth helmet is lighter than the varsity helmet. The Youth AiR XP comes with thicker TPU jaw pads and a youth hard cup chin strap. The facguards should also be different. Our Youth Flex faceguards should be used with the youth XP. Neither is better than the other. They're just made for different players.
The reps for the Schutt on youtube channel seems more professional than the reps on facebook. oh and ps. before i got my revo speed i was looking at this helmet becaus 1. my school is sponsored by schutt and 2 i like the new looks of the revo speed aggressive look and ion4d tough look but i love the traditional look of the air xp
i had inflatebel pads in a ridell helmat onece, after one practice i noticed my helmat was deflating and when pumped up it just dstarted deflating again.iv been skeptakell abot inflatable padding ever since and iv stuck to foam,is that same sittuation likely to happen with this helmat?
@eyeshild21fan The liner in your Riddell helmet had a leak in it - it was either punctured, cracked or was defective. We would have replaced the liner for you if the helmet was still under warranty and it was defective. Keeping the liner clean and dry (wiping it with a towel after practice/games, giving it a simply cleaning every couple of weeks) will go a long way towards keeping your liner in prime condition. We don't get very many air liners that fail - most are punctured by something.
Again thanks, he has used the dna before but says he wants to try a smaller lighter helmet. He said he wouldnt buy anything but schutt he just wanted to make sure besides the two larger stand-off helmets the air xp is better than any other brands helmet.
Thanks for answering, im looking to buy the air xp for my son. He is going into his senior year in hs and he plays d-end. Is this helmet the best helmet out there besides the dna pro and the ion 4d?
@vv6209 You're welcome. To truly answer your question, we need to explain the difference between a large standoff helmet and a traditional standoff helmet. The standoff in a helmet is the actual space between a player's head and the helmet shell. The large standoff helmet has a larger standoff (obviously) than a traditional standoff helmet, so they tend to perform better than traditional standoff helmets. The ION4D and DNA Pro+ are large standoff helmets. The AiR XP is a traditional. (cont)
@vv6209 standoff helmet. In terms of impact absorption, the ION 4D and DNA Pro+ absorb more than the AiR XP. But, the AiR XP still absorbs more impact in game-like conditions than any other manufacturer's large standoff helmets. So then it comes down to cost and appearance. Some players don't like the look of the large standoff helmets (they're too big). So, they go with the AiR XP. The ION 4D is our premium helmet but we think the DNA Pro+ is the best combination of performance and value.
@vv6209 Performance-wise, there's not much difference between the different gens. First gen was charcoal in color and consisted of squarish "blocks" that used seams to bend around the head. 2nd gen was blue and used a newer design of cylinder/cone inside the cushion and also eliminated the "blocks" by incorporating curves and 3D design. The third generation eliminated the enclosed cushion in favor of an open sided cushion that follows the curves of a players head even more closely.
VA Chargers semi-pro football #41 and have to say I have never felt more relaxed playing football. I played 6 seasons and pulled a Brett and took a year off. 35 year old bones fell every hit weeks after a game, lol. I bought the Air-xp helmet and the Armor-flex shoulder pads and made a return after watching these video's and everyone, what they say is the truth. I am the ST capt and ended with 3 solo's and on 1 the return man actually jumped out of bounds. I Didn't feel one hit!
@crfranchises1 Thanks for the note! With the way things are going in NYC, you might want to keep yourself in shape. The SAN DIEGO Charges might be giving you a call. Keep up the great stuff!
@theGalimberti We're hear your pain dude. Schutt is the only company that makes an XXL helmet. It's called the AiR Varsity Commander. It's fashioned after the AiR Advantage style of helmet. You won't find it on our website as it's considered a custom helmet but it's not as expensive as a completely custom helmet. We have the tools to make it - we just don't make very many. Your local Schutt dealer can help get the process started for ordering one. You can find a local dealer on our website.
What is the difference between this and the ION 4D? Just the larger shell? Is the ION 4D much heavier than the AirXP? I getting an ION4D, but this video makes me wonder if I should have go with the AirXP. Is the ION4D better suited for bigger players?
@RiSeOfShAdOwBeAsT We don't sell directly to customers, we use a network of Schutt team dealers located around the world. So, that's why you can't buy the helmet directly from us online. If you're wanting to shop online, we suggest doing a search for the helmet you're looking for and you'll find many possibilities.
can u guys help me. I want one of these with a ROPO-SW facemask kus im a qb. but well the problem is that my hs uses black helmets with like gold things that show in the light on the finish. can u guys help me get one like this?
@rockovega56@rockovega56 Absolutely. It's just black paint with gold flake mixed in. We do it pretty frequently. Send us a direct message with your location and a an email address to contact you and we'll put you in contact with the Schutt dealer nearest to you.
@Enriquegg For most football helmets, especially with traditional foam padding, it takes a while (sometimes a couple of days - sometimes a few weeks) for the padding inside the helmet to conform to the shape of your head. While it's doing that, the pressure points on your head from the padding can leave red marks and cause headaches. They go away once the foam has conformed but that's called a compression set - and that's bad too, because then the foam is no longer performing at 100%
@ Jerry11606: You weren't the only ones asking us for this, so, we're going to do it. Going forward, every single one of our helmets (including youth helmets) except the AiR Standard II, will come with TPU jaw pads as standard.
Im trying to order an adult Air XP Elite in are code 75062. Can (you)SchuttSports give me any info on your retailers in this area that can sell me one? Thanks...
@davhsaenz The Elite Helmets are New and we'll start shipping those in May. Make sure you check with your dealer, get an order on and you'll be one of the first to receive it once they ship out.
jimmievidz7: You'll love the XP and USC has a ton of them. It gives you a clean classic look with the TPU modern technology. You can use a traditional Schutt "Super-Pro" faceguard and most major visor companies products will work with the XP.
I'm going to get the regular helmet, the first one that most NFL players use and joe mcknight. I'm getting it because it looks cool with robot facemask and visor is this recomended?
gator3395: Good Choice!!! The XP retails for about $175.00 without a guard, you can get a guard as low as $29.99 (carbon) up to $160.00 for a Titanium
I've decided to get this helmet for the upcoming football season. Im tired of wearing a revolution. I was wondering what is this helmets retail price? thank you
im thinking about geting this helmet but i have one ? whats the diffrence between the schutt air xp and the schutt air xp Elite?

Your local Schutt dealer can help get the process started for ordering one. You can find a local dealer on our website.

What is the difference between this and the ION 4D? Just the larger shell? Is the ION 4D much heavier than the AirXP? I getting an ION4D, but this video makes me wonder if I should have go with the AirXP. Is the ION4D better suited for bigger players?

how do we buy a schutt helmet off the website online
RiSeOfShAdOwBeAsT 1 year ago
@RiSeOfShAdOwBeAsT We don't sell directly to customers, we use a network of Schutt team dealers located around the world. So, that's why you can't buy the helmet directly from us online. If you're wanting to shop online, we suggest doing a search for the helmet you're looking for and you'll find many possibilities.

im new to the football world and im planning on buying this or the Ion 4D helmet, i just wanted to ask, what's a break in period?
Enriquegg 1 year ago

SchuttSports 1 year ago
cant you guys PLEASE make the TPU jawpads standard on the DNA and the XP?

davhsaenz 1 year ago
@davhsaenz The Elite Helmets are New and we'll start shipping those in May. Make sure you check with your dealer, get an order on and you'll be one of the first to receive it once they ship out.

@SchuttSports Thanks, I'll be ready to make plays with an Elite Air XP!

jimmievidz7: You'll love the XP and USC has a ton of them. It gives you a clean classic look with the TPU modern technology. You can use a traditional Schutt "Super-Pro" faceguard and most major visor companies products will work with the XP.

I'm going to get the regular helmet, the first one that most NFL players use and joe mcknight. I'm getting it because it looks cool with robot facemask and visor is this recomended?
jimmievidz7 2 years ago
gator3395: Good Choice!!! The XP retails for about $175.00 without a guard, you can get a guard as low as $29.99 (carbon) up to $160.00 for a Titanium

The Air xp is a sick helmet. If I didnt have the ION I would have bought this one. Traditional look with new technology. love it.
