Although not a fan myself of the SR motor, you can hardly down play it as " Those Little Motors" They hold 500 HP all day on stock bottom end. So do us all a favor. GTFO -------->

To be technical its a notchtop sr20. And has vct. Variable cam timing. Very good strong motors! As for the rattle its a VCT solenoid.

Oh thats for catchin that... So he lost more hp than I thought.. Sry I dont really know much about those little SR motors.. I scrapped the old one in my 89 S13, A single turbo 2JZ swap sounded alot better.. but yea its a tipical ricer....

You know that the stock motor is rated at 205whp right...? If you goin to do the swap you have to upgade it.... You actually last power by swapin it.... looks good tho

he has the s14 sr20det which is rated at 220 not 205 the s13 sr20det is rated at 205.

You Do know the s13 has 205HP and the s14 has 220Hp and the s15 is at 250HP so mike plz go back to ur Rice Out Honda u have.

No way your SR puts out 260 with exhaust and fmic unless its a s15 SR and in that case you got ripped off cause for the price of those you can get a s14 blacktop with money left over....just my 2 cents

Man that nust sucks, you got ripped off if your sr20 only puts out 200hp and thats w/ an exhaust. my sr20, w/ a greddy T-ic, puts 260. hmm...idk what that knocking is either, it doesnt sound threatening to your engine though, just more annoying. And your 240 would look much nicer w/ some tenzo drift rims. well, anyway, I love my nissans, but sorry for your luck man.

its not a knock, its VCT rattle. welcome to the world of the sr20. if the motor was an import make sure you changed the oil pressure switch so there is enough pressure getting to the head.

this is the s14 sr20det. you can tell because the back of the valve cover is slanted. its flat on the s13 blacktop. they also call the s14 sr a notchtop

for all you sr ignorants saying you hear some tap thats funny cause its just when you swap s14 sr's in sometimes the vvt doesnt go perfect and will tap a little bit

if my memory is correct the black top has variable valve timing and the red top doesnt, ( think the black top came with a roller bearning turbo as well ) black top sr20det far better motor then the red top, nice car to man looks identical to my old one :DDD

If it is the blacktop out of a 180sx they are pretty much the exact same thing.. but if it is out of a s14 silvia it has a t28 BB turbo instead of a t25.. it also would have VCT and about 20 more horsepower

I hear that also man. I don't know about spending 9k on a stock blacktop s14. That is just my opinion. s14=heavy. and not too fond of blacktop heh. redtop all the way.

the swap was not a problem at all. everything pretty much fit perfect. obviously you will need to do some customization with the piping for the intercooler. but yea definitely. i am loving it. good luck.

Thanks. the noise i think is the injectors, they quite down after a few minutes once its warmed up. the exhaust came with the car i am not sure what it is. but i am going to wait on new exhaust until i upgrade my turbo set up.

I had a black 1995 240sx SE, all original leather, lsd, abs, sunroof, every option possible. Ffom 98,000 miles to 157000 all through college. Worked like a charm, the only time it broke was me driving drunk on saint paddy's day 2004, 20 yards from my friends house to mine, haha.
