I always new and understood what is said in the song, but I never knew other people felt the same way. Im not a Christian, but I am spiritual and I hope no one else feels alone like I did, because you are not :)

Is it just me or do you guys hear/see hints of Christianity in almost all of Switchfoot's songs? I look at Switchfoot as missionaries through music, but I still believe anyone can listen to Switchfoots songs, I just think it's genius that they express their faith in each song :) But honestly, don't get me wrong, I like that anyone can love their songs, and anyone can relate to their songs in many ways :)

I realize he mentions "Oh Lord" and "Crooked souls" but i dont think its a message about God. I see it as dont lose your way and know that the sun is always shining in the dark. I see how that can be connected to God but everyone has their own interpretations.

@jffry890 Well, Jon Foreman and the members of Switchfoot are undoubtedly Christians, and the way the song is written, it is most definitely referring to God. The point of the song is this: Our shadows and the darkness of the world proves that there is light. It proves that there is a God. Because light casts shadows. It casts darkness. Everywhere where there isn't light, there is darkness. Wherever there is evil, there is evil because there is an absence of God. (America, and many other places)

When we turn from Him, we will be judged. Its not because He doesn't love us or doesn't care, its because we have denied Him. And He IS love. If you deny love, you deny life. And all hope.

@jffry890 they are not a "Christian Rock Band", but each and every one of them are Christians. There is a difference. They don't like being put into the group of "Christian Artists" because they want and hope their music reaches a larger audience, not just Christians. And Jon Foreman (the lead singer) sings about God quite a but in his Ep's. All of the members have stated their faith. And you can look up the meaning behind this song for yourself.
