Traktor is for those people who want to more than just beatmatching, and digging their crate for the next record. traktor was the one and only who started all this however i owned the final scratch 1 it sucked than had the traktor scratch pro box and had some serious firewire and configuaration issues and made guitar center replaced it with ssl 1 it was basic and did the job. look at the professional market today rane became and industry standart for most people.i think stanton blew a golden opportuninty to became the windows of this field.anyways i have a ttm57sl serato 2.0 and happy with it.

yeah you will be ok with a configuration like that but for me it is not the configuration, it is the relaibility and consistency of performance where staton turned out always problematic. But if you are a electronic music dj and not into scratch go with the final scratch for sure it gives by far more advantages to a dj who is into that type personally. If you resist on analog turntables and stability than you get serato products straight to your face.

These dj packages are still not up to par on real vinyl there is still delay, tho its slight it still makes scratching a bitch, so im out!....for now until they can actually come up with a decent piece of software and stop ripping people off, club djs your ok scratch djs.....still got some work to do before it sounds tight with using this stuff

traktor scratch is a pack including the software, an audio card, and 2 timecoded vinyls. With this you can control your audio files with vinyls.

traktor has a phase meter which makes beatmatching piss easy, if you're into that sort of thing (using the computer to beatmatch instead of your ears).

on top of that..

serato doesnt use effects.

serato (as far as i kno) doesnt offer midi control.

serato loop control can't touch traktor.

the smart money buys traktor.

serato does not use effects but....back then neither did the dj's so thats why there are the effects processor like the pioneer efx 500 which is what i own

just so you know, im referrin to traktor scratch, their dvs.

the whole 'real djs use vinyl' argument has been done to death. Most club DJs use either serato or CDJ1000s. as far as im concerned, as long as you're mixing/beatmatching, youre a DJ. wht u use past that is irrelevant.

midi control can be used to control effects. not just to mix.

this isnt relevant to dvs's, but have a look at ean golden/b33son if u wanna see some skilful non vinyl djs mash it up.

your right i actually thought about it so it really depends on what kind of music the Dj's spins so that in all done and my effects processor is used through sends and returns not MIDI but whatever works you cna see even though i do choose srato i wanna give traktor an in depth try not just 7 mins like before

amen 10eleven!!! really feel sori for some serato djs who are contented wif jus a simple load n mix software. heavy duty softwares like traktor or even m-audio's torque allows djs to be more creative n experimental. isnt tat wat our craft is about? they hv no ideal wat they r truely missing. repent ignorant ones, till then i'll waiting for u to catch up!!!

beatmatching isnt hard. i dunno why people care so much abut vinyl. catch up with the times. dj's complained about cdj's till ableton was created. now cd's are ok. when video conferenceing dj'ing becoes the new thing laptops wil be ok

serato is a great way to get started but not exactly what you would call a professional tool for DJing. Traktor however is what u would call as a pro tool for DJing. a tight time code no easy visuals you hve to mix basically by ear . great way to train yourself. trust me serato makes for sloppy dj's. "everytime i go to a bar or club and see the dj using serato i think hes a human jukebox traktor scratch is for pros" i think that statement is very true and i own both programs

thats retarded. its very hard for someones opinion to be correct or incorrect but thats just wrong. different strokes for different folks. its all about how u use ur software or records or cdjs or whatever ur using. Serato btw remains to this day the industry and club standard. not saying its the best, but the vast majority of clubs boast cdjs and 1200s both hooked up to mixer into a rane SL1 and now SL3 soundcard equipped with SERATO. i have both programs too. different strokes, different folks

yeah traktor has way more features - but in terms of usability....

i don't know what you call a "pro dj", but since serato has perfect vinyl emulation......

the reason i don't like traktor: interface is way to bloated + i would never use features like auto-bmp or effects... it's simply not as easy to use as serato.

with features like "load next song on vinyl flip" you can mix with serato without looking at the screen once.

what i do like about traktor: the interface. kills SL1

no i totally agree with with you about instant usability out of the box, serato takes make 15 min to get where as when i started up traktor for the first time it took me a few days to learn how to use everything efficiently but once i did that my possibilities doubled with traktor. i re did the key configs to match seratos to make it easier on me but over all i think in a few months ill feel comfortable enough to use traktor for one of my shows

I chose TS because not only does it track excellently, it also allows you to do key correction which is awesome (pioneer have been trying to implement that on their djm-800, but TS uses phase vocoding which is superior to say the least). I can now do blends between tracks that would have been impossible to mix because of the dissonances between the melodies. combine that with the awesome beat-oriented looping feature (works with breaks and dnb) - epic win.

using a TS certified mixer (I own an ecler evo5) allows me to set my whole rig up in a flash when I play out - connect a firewire cable and boom, you're good to go. no more tedious connecting of audio interfaces :) hats off to NI for another awesome product (their VST line is excellent, too).

by the way - if you're a student, you can take advanage of the EDU offers. saves a lot of money.

I've been using Traktor 3 for a few years and it's so stable that I'm hesitant to upgrade, but this video might make me change my mind. As much as they market to turntablists, I'm a club/mobile DJ and the midi customizing coupled with the recording and effects have always been the things that set Traktor above all the other software out.

If all you wanna do is play records then by all means, get Serato, but if you wanna stand out from the rest, get Traktor.
