There is NO reason for a feminine man to try to act more masculine. THAT'S who you are. You don't have to have bulging muscles, play football, not care about your appearance. I agree really! I think so many things are confused in an effort to actually get a clearer picture of certain types of homosexual male. Even the compartmentalisation and thinking in "types" is to an extent self limiting. People are often too concerned with how they are perceived by others, so they blunder into false judgement, or beat about the bush and repress what they really think. While I think that femanine gay men ARE very brave, and have paved the way one aspect, I think that masculine gay men are paving the way for many of us who don't want to be categorized and stereotyped. So at the end of the day, it is both femanine and masculine men who have broken down barriers. It's the fems who make the way for flamboyant men, but I think that we need more mascuine gay men coming out to break down the wall of stereotypes.
Well, I've definitely seen some couples where both the men are more on the masculine, and some couples where they are both on the feminine side, so they don't need to be on the opposite spectrum of masculine or feminine really to be a complete couple. I agree really! I think so many things are confused in an effort to actually get a clearer picture of certain types of homosexual male. Even the compartmentalisation and thinking in "types" is to an extent self limiting. I have to disagree with the fact that you say feminine gay men have paved the way and broke barriers. I think thats an unfair statement. All gay people have fought to break barriers and to be honest I think when you take the general publics view on what a gay man is they would immediately default to the stereotype of the feminine gay man. I think it's the masculine gay man that kind of surprises people and breaks down the barrier that wow not all gay men are feminine.

@bewboy25 : I aree 100%. While I think that femanine gay men ARE very brave, and have paved the way one aspect, I think that masculine gay men are paving the way for many of us who don't want to be categorized and stereotyped. So at the end of the day, it is both femanine and masculine men who have broken down barriers. It's the fems who make the way for flamboyant men, but I think that we need more mascuine gay men coming out to break down the wall of stereotypes.

Well, I've definitely seen some couples where both the men are more on the masculine, and some couples where they are both on the feminine side, so they don't need to be on the opposite spectrum of masculine or feminine really to be a complete couple. Not to go out there or try to prove you wrong or anything, just an observation I've made.
