  • I must say that its not a good idea to use a sponge as an air filter but might be good in a pinch. Basically your choking off the carb and your going to run rich wich could cause more issues.

  • this guy is awesome!

  • Can you use something other than kerosene for clearing out the exhaust?

  • another good way to unclog and exhaust is to make a good hot fire and toss it in there. it will burn all the carbon out of the muffler.

  • Is it bad that my engine hasn't been serviced in like 6 years, other than oil changes? It's worked fine, but why??

  • LOL I cant believe you put your mouth on that! Gross!

  • you shod never tip your mower to the sides with gas because the gas can get in to the oil lol

  • 'Give it a blow' *smiles*

  • Too bad this video didn't come out before I retired my old lawnmower. I never even thought to check out the spark plug but thinking on it now, a lot of the problems I had probably came from it being blocked.

  • This video will probably really come in handy since I just bought my first mower.

  • i was mowing my GF's bush, when she told me i was doing such a good job,i told her " i learned everything i know from gregthegardener"

  • I just started mowing last year, and I've neglected to polish the blades of my mower since then. Now they're rusted up. The mower still works fine but I keep fearing the blades will get dull or the mower might get dangerous to use. Any advice on how to clean them up? I was told I should rub the blades with oil and a rag, but I want to make sure before I really do anything.

  • Don't forget to sharpen the mower blade at least once a year too.

  • My missus wasn't running too well until I checked her gap, put my mouth over it and blew and she's as good as gold! (The kero wasn't a hit though)

  • You forgot the #1 reason for those that use their mower only seasonally. Your petrol/gas is old. Drain out your old petrol/gas.... refill... then try again. Old petrol/gas will go bad and not work.... How did you miss this?

  • My neighbor mows the lawn with scissors. Seriously....

  • You know im so good at pulling this kinda shit apart.. but Dad comes to the rescue to show me how to put it all back together again! LOL

Definately the best way to save a few bux! :)

  • Awesome video :)

  • jeans rolled up a bit wit no shoes :P + lotsa forearm and hand action ..good vid lol ...there was a mower?!@

  • Good advice Greg

  • lol at the sponge. You really should wipe the thing off before you touch your lips to kerosene. o.O But very nice, greg.

  • Hmm, I'll check the zorst on my Flymo, it starts but then dies straight away. The plug is clean. My fuel filter is part of the plastic tank, so I can't look at it at all. DOH!

. When I have cleaned out 2 stroke bike exhausts, they go in the bath, with a strong caustic soda and water mixture in them for a couple of days. But no one should try this without safety clothing like gloves and glasses this stuff burns skin. Oh yes, plus caustic soda/ sodium hydroxide/lye attacks aluminium.

  • Darling, thank you for your good advices and help :)

  • Great advice on how to save money! Good to see you recycling too! :)

  • How often should we give our whipper snippers a blow job?

  • My mower recently farted and shat itself. Carby needed a clean, mower needed a general service and the cord you move to determine the engine speed was damaged. Cost me $84.20 to fix.

  • Hhahahaha great advice Bro, had the same probs with blockages on my old 2 stroke motorcycle hahahha H&R Bro

  • Great video Greg thanks for the info, happy sunday:)

  • Very nice!

  • so many problems can be solved with a blow and a shake...

  • Thanks Greg! I needed this!

I need to maintain my chainsaw....the chain fell off the bar and I am sure it needs a sharpening. I would love it if you could show us ! :)

    Liz~

  • I've got Paspalum mate, fucked if I know how to get rid of it.

  • Do I need to change the oil on my electric mower? Or my electric strimmer? Only kidding - I did change the brushes this year - probably saved me 150 dollars!

  • Fantastic advice Greg :)

  • Spring! Time to check mine. Thanks, Greg

  • i use premuim gas too. also in canada where we only use lawn movers only 4 months a year is to run the lawn mover in the fall till it runs out of gas. or put in a fuel stabilizer. whe the motor sits 8 months in the garage the gas gets old a gums up the carb and motor

  • YAY the video i asked for!

  • Good Vid Greg, Honda,is the best mate, especially for the pro, worth every cent.

  • fix it!

  • Yeah Greg, I appreciate the how to on the lawn mower but I prefer to do mine the old fashioned way. By praying to the Lord Jesus. It hasn't let me down yet....lmao

  • I bet that tasted like a dirty Growler.

  • Good shit, Greg. Very practical.

  • Great video,Greg. Do you do all your gardening in bare feet? ; )

The accelerator cable on my lawn mower snapped about 2 months back. It was my Mum's old lawn mower. I haven't been bothered to attempt to fix it. I just borrow the old ladies when I gotta cut my lawn, even though I need a ride on mower for my block!

Overall, I enjoy the tips and like they say, you learn something new every day. cheers mate.

  • @miles2057 l spend 75% of my life bare footed, l love to feel the earth beneath my feet :)

  • @gregthegardener LOL! And the doggy doos between the toes!! X¬D

  • It really bugs the shit out of me how much computer and automobile services cost you from a specialized shop, in comparison to how much it costs to teach yourself, and do it yourself. :/

  • @MysteriousMayonaise DIY, it's fun, and easy!

  • I love the sponge idea, you clever boy!

  • @PerennialPeace you can use it to give sponge baths too ;)

  • @gregthegardener That's HOT! :)

  • Oh man this reminds me I snapped the housing on the cables of my lawn mower. They froze in the winter and when I pushed the snow blower by they caught and snapped.

I just change the oil and wash the air filter. Pour in some new gas and fire it up. Sometimes I check under the deck for build up.

  • @GodlessManitoban nice work, these small engines are so easy to maintain, and it's fun too!

  • @gregthegardener

I use hot water and soap on the air filter. Let it air dry. Then apply a very light oil to the filter. Before replacing it.

  • Thats all good and well, how do you fix a vibrator?

  • @CSTheApostate i'll ask my house mate.

  • @gregthegardener When i moved the movers fucked my mower :( there was oil everywhere

  • @gregthegardener Is there anyway to stop my lawn going brown and dying in winter?

  • @gregthegardener still waiting.......

  • A positive comment with trailing periods leaves one confused. Otherwise interesting help vid.

  • Let's just say I am lazy about taking care of the lawn mower... and I have paid for it many times. Thanks for the reminder that I need to be nicer to my mower ;)

  • @tattooskin72 i'd come and help you fix it in exchange for a hair cut :P

  • nice vid ....
