  • it's like magic

  • Could you tell me what accounts for some entrelac to look like squares while some look more like rectangles? Does it have to do with the number of stitches per square/rectangle? i.e. your using the "magic # 5," I'm using #6. My rectangles of course add two more rows. Does it have to do with the yarn type used? I love diamonds but I'm really going for a more square shape. Should I just decrease the "magic number?" Thanks for your video! Love it. <3

  • @ThisnThat54 The rectangular shape is created by the geometry of the stitch itself. If you add stitches, you'll add rows as well, so that won't "fix" it.

  • wow, thank you soooooooo Much, you can't imagine how helpful you have being. I just can't thank you enough.

  • @LatingGirl Gosh, thank you!

  • what a wouderfull video and a good way to learn this design.i need ur help.nowadays i am tring to knitt an entrelec sweater far my baby but didnt understand how to make arms and neck in it.can u please tell me how can i do this?i will be very thankfull to you.

  • @omama42 Shaping in entrelac is tricky business and really requires design skill or the use of an existing pattern designed specifically for entrelac. An easier way is to knit the straight part between the bottom=m band or edge detail up to the shaping in the entrelac and then pick up stitches along top of the entrelac section and to knit the remaining part in a solid color.

  • @planetpurl thanx for ur help but cant do it.can u upload a video about it?

  • @omama42 I'm sorry but I can't as it would be hours and hours long. My suggestion would be to find a pattern you like, go to your local yarn shop to buy the yarn and to get hands on help there. Good luck!

  • Thank you very much I knitted myself a little bag with your help very easy to follow. Do you think I can follow this pattern again and knit a scarf?. Thanks in advance :o)

  • @4llenstar Sure, you can make a scarf, but you will be able to see the wrong side.

  • your video is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo perfectly clear for someone like me to do this pattern! thank you soooooooooooo much

  • @blinkywinky55 You're veeeeeeeery welcome! :)

  • SLOW DOWN

  • thank you sooo much!! the first who starts at the beginning and make's it look so easy to understand what you are doing!

  • Thanks SO much for all your fantastic videos! You have a great, soothing voice, and you're an excellent teacher. I just finished my first sampler using your video series and am so excited to keep going, using the Drysdale book and getting a little fancier about things. I joined the group at PlanetPurl, too. :)

  • @KimDavidsonMusic Thank you so much. Entrelac is such a beautiful thing, I'm thrilled so many people have taken this class.

  • WOW Thank you so much for these videos. I love a good challenge. I barely started knitting a week ago and I cant seem to put it down.

  • @ajames22young Good for you for challenging yourself!

  • Awesome. I'm going to try this. It is so easy to follow your instruction. I just learn how to knit.

    Thanks

  • @wonton71 Good for you! I love to see beginning knitters challenge themselves!

  • omg i love YOUTUBE and I love you for making this video !!!

  • @bozomahoney I'm feelin' the love!

  • Can't get it! Pulled it out 10times!! Thanks.

  • @DanandDonna1 oh noooooo sorry to hear that... i'm going to try this most definitely.

  • @DanandDonna1 I did, too--but then it finally came together. Don't give up! :)

  • Can you make socks from this pattern?

  • @busyhappyknitter Well, you wouldn't want to knit the foot like this because of the seams where stitches get picked up, but you absolutely can knit the leg part. Just remember that since the stitches go off at an angle, the gauge will be completely different and you'll want to swatch to figure out how many stitches of the ankle (toe up) you'll need to decrease when switching to entrelac, or how many to increase at the end of the entrelac if working top down.

  • @busyhappyknitter The Drysdale book "Entrelac" has a sock pattern in it.

  • Thank you for posting this. I've wanted to do entrelac ever since I saw it for the first time in Spin-Off, years ago. But for some reason I could never understand the written instructions. It only just occurred to me today to look on YouTube for videos. Now I think I might actually be able to do this!

  • @kimadawest Of course you can do it! Just don't overthink it and you'll be fine!

  • You're very welcome. My 90 minute class on Entrelac is available in its entirety at Planet Purl. Just click on the "Events" link at the top to get to the archives.

  • Thanks for posting how to START the base triangles! I saw a lot of great videos about how to knit the tiers, but couldn't find any about starting from the CO row.

  • Can't wait for this series... I think I'm going to get a lot of use out of this technique.
