Bullshit, every game I go into now he is being played and unless you focus him the ENTIRE game he becomes OP because he starts pushing 4k HP and is at that point impossible to kill even in most team fights.
i was almost screaming at my screen to being with... using your W as a damaging ability to start a fight... its one of the best finishers in the game in my opinion, so using it to engage.. isnt really a good idea..
about the thing u said about his ult. beeing hard to be used in a team fight cos they push you back and focus you, right? then its done its job. as tank its kinda you roles and even if you dont get the dmg off it. you role is still beeing done since they r gonna focus you instead of ur carry = you just won you team fight xD
My friend plays volibear alot, and after having seen him play volibear I do not agree with what you say, cuz when he plays him solo top I wont have to gank as a jungler cuz noone wants to fight him in that lane and if they do he just gets double, tripple and quadra kills all over the place...
Once he actually got a Pentakill 1 vs 1 tho I wasnt there to record it Q_Q
What im trying to say though is that volibear is very good even if you dont build him full HP but gets some resists XD
pretty fun to play but as he said, sometimes you feel like a god, sometimes you can do anything... he dont have any range ability and his sustain is actually not that good... so this make him really bad in most situations...
you use frenzy when enemy has below 40-50% health, now when they are in full, in that manner, enemies are killed instantly (for those who question, how do you get them at that low point of health?, well, you have youre "q, e and r" for that, all include damages)
Volibear is mainly a tank, though he can dish out alot of damage even without AD items. So he is like Tank/Ad. Nunu is mainly AP, this is beacuse two of his abilities scales with ap, his ultimate scales with AP like crazy. Going off-tank with him is a good a choice though. They both got good and down-sides, and if Voli is the best or if Nunu is the best, is up to each others preference. You should try them out on your own, that will surely answer your question.

Colby you are stupid... im sorry but he is good you make him look like crap you cant play a tank worth anything he is really good, if you build full hp dont dive in so much like pull one and run back, if you build him armor you can dive but you should have heal, and building him dps your sqiushy and that messes up you can do sorta damage and your passive isnt at full use BUT COLBY DUMBASS BUILD DPS THATS WHY HE SUCKS VOLBEAR IS GOOD END OF STORY
even with a hp build you should still have solid resists. shielding glyphs+merc treads+Aegis/Spirit Visage/Hexdrinker is solid MR which is easily obtained. armor seals(prefer flat but scaling also work)+Wriggle's/Aegis+Atma's(the main reason you go full hp to begin with) is solid armor which is easily obtained. I like Ghost on Volibear a lot more than Flash, for the reason you stated yourself, enemies love kiting him. Q is a temporary speed boost, much like Udyr's E, Ghost is great on both.
What people dont understand is that he is an auto-attacker. I build him with atma and ghostblade and i wreck people. He is OP if you can get close enough. He is so easlily countered by people with high cc, it's not even funny. He is a great jungle and all around powerhouse is built right. For all the people who know how to play, enjoy the Bear;he's awsome
i disagree i own with volibear but it depends on how you build and use him. I love playing tanks, thats where i excel so with a champ like this its nice to be super durable and be able to toss out some decent damage. You will end up with a ton of assists as well with this guys ultimate in a team fight and tossing champs back into your team but in my opinion if your feeding your team and soaking up damage your doing your job as a good tank. :)

@arnoboy96 I don't think he needs buffs, he's just not my style of play, he's got too much of a horrid initiate to be a main tank which I like, he's more of an off tank which I find boring... Also I find it funny how high tiered characters have so much trouble with him and yet low tiered ones think he's a pushover.
I think he works best with HP+ items like randuin, aegis even if other team is balanced, reverie, spirit visage and warmog. No real reason to give him AD or AP when he can w for like 700+ dam and has like 4800 hp at 18. However if you really can't do enough dam late game I guess you could swap out one of those items for Atma. Also because he is both a tank and a melee fighter I find getting kills with him shouldn't be a problem right?

What games have you been watching, 500 ELO pubstomps? Xerath is considered by most high ELO players to be one of the best AP mid picks in the game. If you're skilled with him he can beat nearly every other AP mid and his team fight abilities are immense.

My experience with Volibear is that he is EXTREMELY STRONG with the right build. First off, Atmogs. your second item needs to be atmas then warmogs it gives u that extra health for ur W and the atmas gives you some very nice attk dmg. My first item is usually a brutalizer since his auto attacks do pretty nice damage with my build then i finish ghostblade after atmogs. Then i build guardian angel for the resists and the revive and then i'm unstoppable. I went 19/1/10 in a ranked game first day.
yeah, i havent really seen any good volibears yet. So far he doesnt seem that strong, but he seems to have a lot of potential to be strong if you build him right. I would build: Merc treads, frozen mallet, Warmogs, atmas, wits ends, and sunfire cape. This would give a good amount of damage while keeping you pretty tanky with a lot of health and plenty of resistances.
"Fizz came out and we knew right away he'd be super strong; Volibear ehh, that's a little hit or miss on that one." Right. So you're stacking nothing but Health? Volibear beats fizz's damage any time. W = All your health gone.

Volibear is a TANK, he does not have innate tankiness, but he scales off tankiness, which means he gets more damage for building tanky, while some other champs have to mix and match dmg and tanky to be useful. Mundo does not have innate resistance, but you would not call him a tank? Also, what hp items are you building on him? 6 warmogs Hue... Frozen mallet, trinity for hp? There are so many hp +resistance items...
Slows, speeds up, has a fling, build in mundo ultimate, has a W that does insane damage, and his ultimate allows him to do aoe dmg... I dont understand, you say you stack hp but you're squishy.. Do you stack warmogs or something and never buy any mr/armor items?...-.- Sometimes it feels like you're WAY off lol.

His Q scales with nothing, his W scales with bonus hp and his E and ult scale with AP so you can't really build him damage :/ Unlike champs like Lee Sin which can build Atmogs and then roflstomp you like there's no tomorrow, that's kinda sad

After this shit jungle patch all junglers are like destroyed - no more jungling for you guys. Over 100 cs in jungle and still cant buy a shit xD hahahah have like 1300 gold after that. Also they asked HTSGG, jiji, doublelift and others bout this - pro staff i mean. Because seriously the game is going down like an airplane.... Started with Eve nerf, then ward and global ultis nerf. Then all known "support patch" (cause why the hell supports dont get pentas?!?!?) and now this shit... Dunno if they are trying to destroy the game completely or what? Hope they will revert this shit otherwise next patch we can expect to give +200 dmg to all tanks cause they are too tanky -.-

Seems like you aren't too excited about him, I have yet to buy him but the 3-4 Volibears I've played with so far seems like such a huge advantage to teamfights and they are pretty rough to play against in a lane, but I have yet to try, thank you!

What games have you been watching, 500 ELO pubstomps? Xerath is considered by most high ELO players to be one of the best AP mid picks in the game. If you're skilled with him he can beat nearly every other AP mid and his team fight abilities are immense.

My experience with Volibear is that he is EXTREMELY STRONG with the right build. First off, Atmogs. your second item needs to be atmas then warmogs it gives u that extra health for ur W and the atmas gives you some very nice attk dmg. My first item is usually a brutalizer since his auto attacks do pretty nice damage with my build then i finish ghostblade after atmogs. Then i build guardian angel for the resists and the revive and then i'm unstoppable. I went 19/1/10 in a ranked game first day.

yeah, i havent really seen any good volibears yet. So far he doesnt seem that strong, but he seems to have a lot of potential to be strong if you build him right. I would build: Merc treads, frozen mallet, Warmogs, atmas, wits ends, and sunfire cape. This would give a good amount of damage while keeping you pretty tanky with a lot of health and plenty of resistances.

........ Health builds don't have resistance? Volibear is a TANK, he does not have innate tankiness, but he scales off tankiness, which means he gets more damage for building tanky, while some other champs have to mix and match dmg and tanky to be useful. Mundo does not have innate resistance, but you would not call him a tank? Also, what hp items are you building on him? 6 warmogs Hue... Frozen mallet, trinity for hp? There are so many hp +resistance items...

Slows, speeds up, has a fling, build in mundo ultimate, has a W that does insane damage, and his ultimate allows him to do aoe dmg... I dont understand, you say you stack hp but you're squishy.. Do you stack warmogs or something and never buy any mr/armor items?...-.- Sometimes it feels like you're WAY off lol.
