I believe what Dan Burstein is saying is true, there were soo many Mary's at this time that Mary Magdalene was mixed up. She was confused of mistaken identity! For Mary was the the true rock of the church not Peter. In the painting by Leonardo Da Vinci's Painting of the last supper you can see Peter did not like her for Jesus loved her most. All reasonings point to a marriage. I am sure it was the Church that kept it hidden! The marriage at Cannon was theirs. Wake up People!

I read in a very old Bible that Mary Magdalene will be the very one that does the same thing as John the Babtist did before, the comming of Jesus Christ, the first time. I'm not sure why this info has been taken out about Mary Magdelene? She will also be a voice crying out in the wilderness like John the Babtist was before, the Second coming of Jesus Christ, I think if that old bible I read, was correct. Who knows. God must know. If you read the 4 main Gospels ..Mary Magdelene was a very important provider for Jesus and his ministry..Her and another woman accompanied them on his travels and took care of them...that is in the Bible...but there is no mention of Marriage at all...but can we absolutely be sure...I think in the end....we all have to do our own soul searching...and believe what we want to believe...so if Jesus was married or not...would that change the way you pray to him daily ???......

This is one of many books that vomit out the same poorly researched drivel of lies. If it's not the lie that the Catholic Church taught she was a prostitute then its the lie that she was Christ's lover.

The facts are that it was a theological theory of one Pope and not a Dogma that the Magdalene was a prostitute. The Gnostic gospels when speaking of Christ kissing John or allegedly kissing the Magdalene is not a physical "kiss" but more symbolic of a passing on of knowledge.

A simple study of the basic's of Gnosticism would show that in Gnosticism the material world was evil. The material world including the body and sexual intercourse, which could result in pregnancy and another soul being trapped in a human body. For Gnostic's the body was a prison for the soul.

Those who use the Gnostic texts as proof of a romantic relationship between Christ and the Magdalene do so either out of convenience or are just too lazy too seek out the truth.
