Skyrim - Finding the Golden Claw

I just got Skyrim yesterday, and I'm stuck on the puzzle door. I only let him get away because I was being weighed down by all my items, but I didn't know that at the time. XD

This is kinda a main quest because you need the golden claw to open the gate to get the dragon stone.

I'm really failing with that giant spider...It's never the best idea to kill it from close range.

What do you do if you lose track of the guy...been looking around for an hour and i have no save data going back far enough to just kill him. Getting reallllllllllly annoyed.

Actually, after an hours worth of searching, I found the guys dead body somewhere around the gate trap. I guess it's supposed to kill him just in case we do lose him. If his body isn't around there, i don't know what to tell you :/

go back to riverwood, and enter one of the houses. some people will be arguing about something important they lost, its the golden claw.
