Growin up in NYC in the 90's and great music like this in regular rotation the good old days when no one knew Cash Money Records or Maybach Music!!! All thats played on current radio smh
larry singletarys my great uncle singing runs in dah family my dads donte singletary n dis is diamond singletary great neice <3 aahhhhhhhhh they killed it go great uncle n if yall dnt believe me then thats yah i never met hym except in videos cause my grandma told me about her brother larry gttta <3 the family
My sister went over to Canada and came back with this in about 1988 I think. Took me unitl the late 90's to prise it away by which time she ahd emigrated to the USA anyway. Remember the 1st time I played this at a party in London. How many people rushed the decks to try and grab it I dont know! Did people really go out and dance ALL night?!? Hell yeah.......

You know what! I am feeling real good now. I use to walk home from school listening to this on my walkman. I am 37 years old. I am looking for this cd and amazon has it for 75. dollars. for one cd. dam. so thankyou for posting it.
Sooooooooooo Carrie Lucas' 1982 R&B hit "Show Me Where You're Coming From" HAD to have been connected to this song, as it's the SAME DAMN HOOK! To the tee
@monogee Gene signed Guy to a "Five Heartbeat" contracts.....all the money flowed through him......he was getting paid as a manger, so called producer and group member.....
The song is so great. I just can't seem to get enough of it. I used to have this 12inch version untill it got stolen. I miss those type extended version. Nowadays I only hear extended version in house music. I hope that will change some day.
wrecks n effects, guy, bobby brown, swv, xscape, today, Keith Sweat will make all these new top 40 so called artists sound like sesame street. New jack swing era was so hard. please have a reunion tour soooon.
Harmony, music with layers and changes! Sorry but these mainstream new producers/artists really need to step it up. I know this is said quite often but I didn't really appreciate the good music that we had in the 80's and 90's. I thought it was a right. Obviously today's mainstream proves that it's not. What a shame...
@Palmpat I understand what you mean. This was and will always be great music. The problem is not so much the producers of now. They can make this if they want to. It's the (young) people that so used to hearing one groove. In order to make music interesting for them producers have to make what you are hearing now on the radio. And yes, it is a shame.
remember the original and thought that's tight. Then I found out about the 12inch, I was done. I downloaded both of them. If anyone wants the radio version and the 12inch version I got it. Also I got the radio version and 12inch version of Oh Louise By Junior. Remember the guy who sang Mama Used To Say. So yeah if you want it shoot me a message.
My favorite Today song hands down,I remember seeing them Live,i belive they came to Tampa Florida in 1988 with Guy ,they were bad.I was a Jr in high school.
This song is the JAMMMMMMMM. Every time I play this song I am transported back to I so wish it would never end 80's. For all those that don't know you better ask somebody. LONG LIVE THE 80'S, THE GARAGE, THE LOFT, THE DOME, THE ELECTRI CIRCUS, BENTLEY'S, THE CHEETAH CLUB.Thanks so much for posting. I am in heaven.
This was my jam, even though i was only 7 when it dropped i remebered this song use to play at my sista card game parties and everybody would get up and just dance for an intermission then they be right back playin cards again,it was cool
There are USB Turntables available now that connect to your PC! Google USB Turntable ..... and have fun, i have converted all my LP's/12 Inch/7 Inch and even tape to MP3 ....
This brings me back to my clubhopping days back in 1988 in NYC. Savage, Justine's, 70 West, Silver Shadow, Level 10, Bentley's, Zanzibar in NJ just to name a few.....Teddy Riley was putting his foot all into the New Jack Swing sound when he produced this track for Today.
OMG! I remember seeing Today and Guy at the Beacon Theater and I still remember how they tore this song up. I still do the dance moves when I hear it. This does sound like Show Me where You're Coming From by Carrie Lucas.
@Risse227 It sounds like it cuz it's the exact same same hook. Today just changed the words from " show me where ur comin' from" to "Girl I got I my eyes on you" and it's dope too!!!
You're the shit man for posting this... thank you gracias!! I'm 38 and I love this music, era...The whole New Jack Swing, T. Riley, High School days for me, good *ucking memories...
OH! yeah I remember this jam well ! Just sumthin bout it makes ya wanna move your pelvis.(on Da Dance floor of course what were u thinkin!!).It was the start of my love affair with TODAY !!(BIG BUB) Lee Drakeford (MUAHH!!)..if you listen closely you can hear GUY ..Aaron Hall at the very end .(7:45)..NEW JACK SWING FOR YOuR NeRVes !!!
Hiphoplegend. Croon3. You peeped it my brother. That Carrie Lucas influence[show me where you're coming from]. Actually Teddy Riley started working with Leon Sylvers when leon moved to Virginia and that's where the connection came from for the song and also the song Before I let you go by Blackstreet was done by leon Sylvers.
