Love the way the orchestral members are digging the beat! It's going to be hard nodding off again after this. What Id love to see is him getting together with Peter Green - both with the skull caps. Leg comes up once towareds end but not for long before rheumatics sets in.
Bravo! I've been there since the beginning of Tull and It's always been fun to see what Ian is going to do next . . . Ah, about the fish thing . . . The man is a musician with an expensive hobby, so what? . . . I shouldn't complain, at least this thread didn't turn into a political thing . . . Please reply responsibly, please reply sober . . .

Great artist, Stand Up is a great album...but here he looks like a typical American Dentist / Lawyer / Accountant / Doctor asshole tool fool ready to hop on his Harley to give an illusion of badass in passing traffic.
quite funny to think that Ian Andersons main profession is not music but fish farming. He is one of the most successfull private fish farmers in the EU. Maybe he wants to look tough and scare his fish....
What a pile of bullshit! Anderson has been almost non stop on tour since 1968 either with Tull or alone and has dozens of albums edited. He toyed for a few years with salmon farming and has long ago sold it and you say his main profession is fish farming!!!

eat a dick buddy. I've seen him live six times and EACH AND EVERY TIME he talks about how he looks forward to going back to his beloved fish farm after tour for some well needed peace and quiet. He says hes getting too old to be playing all the time and considers himself a fish farmer over a muscian. Maybe he's just modest... oh yeah, forgot the !!!!!!!! for you. Cockface asshole
Now aren't we a lucky chap. Six times in 40 years! That must make you some sort of international expert then. So you haven't seen Tull in the last 10 or 12 years then? Ian sold the farm in the 90's. I could tell you the exact date as it is of public record but I can't be bothered to search unless you really want to know. If so just let me know and I'll go to the trouble for you.
That's what went through my head... I've seen them as many times since my first-ever concert in 1995, and don't consider it high -- anyway, he's never mentioned the old fish farm, but does often speak of his interests in climate change and cats, both of which are mentioned on the official Tull site.
I remember it was late 69 and I was walking thru the Army barracks in Budingen Germany when I hear the hypnotic strains of Bouree coming from a room. I had to ask.."Who in the world is that?" I was told it was Jethro Tull. In 10 seconds I was completely hooked and nearly 40 years later I still find JT the gold standard of inspiring and magical rock.
Bouree was my personal highlight when I saw them at the beginning of the month. They had keys instead of the wind section and a string quartet on stage. Ian is simply amazing.
Why are you all so upset? #1 Bouree as played by Tull has been here for damn near 45 years. It opened MY eyes to Classical music when I was in my teens! MANY groups take music from other era's and bring new life to it. I am SO looking forward to seeing Ian and the boys this summer when they come to my town!
BUENO! LOL, my 68 YO hubby is rocking out behind me!
Wonderful way of playing this piece, I do not understand why they should be blamed for it, They added something to the piece, this kind of crazyness makes all the difference between stealing and tribute.
I was worried for a second there that they weren't going to let the guy play at all. Then it looked like he was playing, but he wasn't being heard on the mike. Then all was well.
Yes, this is a Bach piece. However, Ian Anderson in no way credits this song as his own, even though the studio version is far different than the actual Bach piece. I understand your outrage, but music cannot advance without variation and interpretations such as this. I prefer to appreciate each piece for its own merits rather than comparing them to one another.
Most artists would be happy to see covers of their material, especially when done as well as this. Dylan loved covers of his work, people really made it their own, and he appreciated that. Most other composers/artists would too i think, as long as they got due credit, which i must add is unlikely on youtube.
Ian Anderson introduced this music many times as Bach during his concerts and never took credit and i believe Anderson was a great admirer of the great composer and someone like Anderson who has always demanded high standards from his musicians and has always displayed a great appreciation for real music i would rather see this mans variation on others music as oposed to someone like brittany spears justin timberlake or christina aguilera trying to recreate beethoven or other greats.
Spears & Beethoven? You've gotta be kidding... I am puking already... Poor Ludwig is spinning in his grave. But I agree with you absolutely - Anderson is a great musician. Going to see him in Denver soon.
Luck for you im envious :o) its not often he gets to come to Australia and every time he has i could never make the concert, last time he was here i was determined to go but he broke his leg and cancelled the tour, lol ill be older than Ian Anderson by the time i get to see him me thinks.
I always thought it was classical rock. No denying jazz influence tho. Elise

A lousy flutist indeed... His 'spitting' only shows that he's unable to blow or hold a note with grace.

The original was from one of the lute suites by JSBach. I prefer the recorded version (probably because the recording quality is better).

I don't understand why some persons are so upset...
I haven't heard an other piece played like this by a flautist!
Can you play the flute like this?
Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull for ever!!!
