The animation was in the Peter Max style. His style had a lot of influence on advertisement during the late sixties to the early seventies. This ad is typical of the time, circa 1969-70.
Yeah it was a nice time to be alive when this drive-in commercial was being shown. The only thing you had to worry about was being drafted or caught in a race riot. Groovy!!!
I know what you mean brother. I see how degrading TV is nowadays and movies as well. It was definitely a happier generation back then. Learn from your elders as soon as possible.
The music is actually a funky 1968/69-vintage organ instrumental of the Pepsi jingle of the time, "You've Got a Lot to Live, and Pepsi's Got a Lot to Give."

"the commercial aspects (Pizza, Pepsi, a cow turning into a hamburger) ultimately overwhelm the art and leave a bad taste in the brain."
NO WONDER PEOPLE WERE SO SKINNY BACK THEN...

I believe the art work is supposed to be like Peter Max....

Try telling people about the crying onion and the cow that morphs into a hamburger. See what kind of looks they give you.

Why do I keep expecting the Beatles to show up in this one? Reminds me of "Yellow Submarine".
