Thanks for answering. We have a double yellow amizon named Archie. He is quite a character also. He has a very good vocabulary but not as good as Einstein. I can't leave the room, he calls me back. He didn't talk when we got him, but one day he said "WHAT YOU DOIN HUH?" I was shocked. Now he repeats everything I say. He even has my laugh.
@lilstar371 Yes, she is. Einstein is more fastidious than most other parrots. (We don't know why.) We did train her to poop on command when she was about 4 months old. The command is “bombs away”. (She will also poop at will, so she doesn’t depend on us to give the command.) She will not poop in her favorite kitchen drawer or cabinet. We are home when she is in those areas and we take her often to relieve herself.
I better not let my gray see this mine is mischievious enough. Mine's name is Hera. he immitates the cats, and dogs, my cough, she says "go bathroom" "come on old man" which is what I call my dog. "Cher" my cockatoo's name, she will call my cockatoo over and over and over and then laugh like she's trying to drive her nuts on purpose. My umbrella cockatoo gets into things worse than my gray though, and she's messer too.
Yes, I can see how enthusiastic Einstein is about...helping. Can you get anything done when she's in there with you? She just likes all the noise she's making, doesn't she? :)
Awww this made me LOL! Isn't it amazing how you can train a bird to sing songs, use different phrases and differentiate between colours and objects, some can do math equasions, but you put something shiny in front of them..........................
@bimomoful For safety, her wings are clipped, but she is still a strong flyer and can “fly-hop”. For example, from her perch to the kitchen counter. We have to be careful when one or two wings grow out and we clip those as soon as we can.
@BechTalent No it is not cruel and doesn't hurt them at all. If would be much crueler not to clip and have them fly into a window, ceiling fan, or out the door! For a full explanation go to: w w w (dot) birdsnways (dot) com / wisdom / ww19eii (dot) htm (delete spaces)
@AngelDelaRosa101 Go to the FAQ page of my website. You'll find the answer to this question, and your other questions too. einsteinparrot. com/q_&_a. htm (delete spaces)
it was so funny when she dropped the sliver bowl thing with the mettle stick thing on it and when she dropped it she was like whoops! lol so funny made my laugh my head off! u have an amazing bird!
i have the hardest time getting my u 2 to step up i have had him a year and have tried multiple ways to get him to step up and he just wont his "cage" is his security blanket as his PRIOR owners (not the ppl we got him from either) treated him like a piece of furniture I have 2 cages one for inside one for outside in the back yard and a shower perch and a playpen and the only way I can get him off any cage is by reaching in covered with a blanket or towel and pulling him out
I'm amused the way parrots like to bang things around so they make a noise. Watching this, you know Einstein is working up to finally throwing the thing off the counter on the floor so it'll make a good loud noise.
The metal bird food / water cup is very satisfactory for this purpose, except when it's dropped into the dish towel drawer, where it doesn't make a noise. So she has to retrieve it from there, fling it about, and then toss it overboard. And then say "Whoops!"
Is she potty trained? Because I have been trying to potty train my african grey so she could wonder around the house without me worrying about having to clean up afterwards :\
@Angel4n931 Yes she is, but we didn't potty train her to roam the house. She is only allowed in certain areas of the house with our permission and supervision.
@stewy1897 Yes, I highly recommend the Positive Reinforcement training. It takes time and patience but it does work if you are consistent. Google: Goodbird Inc. Lots on info on the website and Books and DVD's you can purchase. Mention "Einstein" for a 10% discount.

@mouse264 Yes she is. Google this: Winged Wisdom Pet Bird Magazine - The ABC's of Potty Training (also Google) BirdsnWays - Potty Train Your Bird for info on how to do it. I don't know about cockatiels.
@trumpetplayer231 Just talk to them. If they want to talk, they will. Not all parrots talk, so you shouldn't get one for that reason. I have known budgies and caiques to talk. Do a YouTube search "talking budgie" and "talking caiques". I hope you've done research about caiques. They are high energy birds and need a lot of interaction.
@123africangrey She gets fed 3 times a day. A mix of cooked organic beans, grains, pasta with a variety of fresh vegetables such as corn, carrots, kale, chard, etc. A pellet diet is available to her also. You must be careful that the food doesn't sit out too long because it may spoil. If I am to be gone all day, then I will leave a bird bread, or muffin. I make all of this in advance and keep in the freezer. I reheat in the microwave.
@123africangrey From a breeder in Garland, TX. 13 years ago. They are out of business now. Good luck with your baby. Please read as much as you can about how to raise them.
@4zebird Hey how are you? I live in Garland. Do you know of any breeders or places I can get a African Grey for adoption around here? Hope Einstein is doing well. Please IM me.
@mbtrader67 Not in Garland, But there is a very good parrot Rescue in Red Oak, TX. Wings of Love Bird Haven. (only 40 miles away.) Google them, they have a website. Before you get a Grey, make sure you do some reading and determine if a parrot is the right kind of pet for you and your lifestyle. @4zebird lol my cousins parrot just passed. when they got a dog it learned to bark just to mess with the dog. it would call my uncle fatty and once it flew away and a neighbor heard it yelling fatty and brought it home they are very smart animals
I am SO in love with this amazing animal! How long did it take to train her to do all this? I'm sure that it took many years! She is so smart and beautiful! Is there a certain age that a bird needs to be so they can be trained?
I can't say we trained Einstein, more like she trained us!!! We got her when she was just 3 months old and she said her first word at 17 months. Go here to read the story: einsteinparrot (dot) com click - FAQ
A parrot can talk at any age if it wants to, not all parrots want to talk. I plan to blog about this more in detail very soon.

I am SO in love with this amazing animal! How long did it take to train her to do all this? I'm sure that it took many years! She is so smart and beautiful! Is there a certain age that a bird needs to be so they can be trained?
tjoles2008 1 year ago
I can't say we trained Einstein, more like she trained us!!! We got her when she was just 3 months old and she said her first word at 17 months. Go here to read the story: einsteinparrot (dot) com click - FAQ
A parrot can talk at any age if it wants to, not all parrots want to talk. I plan to blog about this more in detail very soon.
