  • isnt black's aim is to do a draw??? since he at disadvantage

  • This lesson is very sloppy. After White plays Kd4 and Black responds with Kc2, you then take six moves to win the pawn. It takes only three moves to achieve this ... with Qc3, Kd3 and then Qd2.

  • AH! I drew a game 2 weeks ago from here, thank you!

  • @7003 the pawn cannot capture pieces from behind, only in front of it and 1 square diagonally too so the pawn can only capture a piece like that queen if the piece is on square c1 or e1 on the bottom row of squares because it is moving downwards to us and not upwards!!! Only a bishop could capture that queen if she was on square c3 because bishops can capture pieces diagonally in any direction!!!

  • @7003 a king and queen can also capture a queen on c3 since they can move in any direction but never a rook and knight because they cannot move diagonally!!! I was referring to a piece other than a pawn that is on the d2 square.

  • wow, amazing

  • how do I win if im black with the pawn?

  • At 3:55 white should have played Ke3 not Kd3 because Ke3 gives a mate in 3 after Ke3... Ke1, Qa1+ ...d=Q, Qxd1#

    But Kd3 does not give a checkmate for at least 5 moves after Kd3... Ke1, Qxd2+ ...Kf1, Ke3 ...Kg1, Kf3 ...Kh1, Qg2#

  • Why can' the pawn just hit the queen?

  • Because the pawn is pinned to the king. If he moves the pawn, its check for the king, so its an illegal move.

  • It becomes a draw

  • I thought you were right for a second. the pawn is going the other way, so for it to take the queen, say at 5:41 said pawn would be going backwards.

  • Good vid. To clarify - The ending is drawn with c and f pawns, or a and h pawns, only when the white king is outside a certain quadrant of squares. Otherwise white can force mate.

  • at 2.02 why cant the pawn take the queen the king cant protect it im confused

  • Because that pawn is going the other way.

  • Oops, posted that comment too early XD

  • At 4:03, I think he meant to say "Rook pawns and bishop pawns" instead of rook and knight.

When black has a pawn threatening queening on the rook or bishop files, the black king can sneak in the corner and force a draw

  • U people are so stupid!!! The black pawns always promote on the 1st and 2nd ranks. And the pawn can't kill the queen because the pawn is behind the queen!! And about the question which person would move the king to B1. If he didn't he would have to move in front of the pawn and white just brings the king over!! This is a really nice video though! Only some stupid comment posters ruined it by asking dumb questions! I hope u continue to make chess videos!!

  • These are questions a beginner should ask if they dont know. It doesnt mean they are stupid. Patience.

  • how come the queen don't just take the king? Lol nah i'm joking :)

  • can anyone pls xplain me clearly why the pawn cannot kill the queen plss... thnk u!

  • The pawn is going the other way :)

  • thanks but it would of been a better idea if you would have put the queen behind the pawn and the king couldnt have come close

  • the pawn can kill the queen

  • This is addressed lower down. The pawn is going the other way :)

  • why cant at 1:56 the pawn just kill the queen? its black turn and the queen is sitting there as a victim, then you just move your pawn up to the other side make it a queen and check mate the white's king, i'm sure there's some logic behind why this cant be done but i cant see it

  • Black is going the other direction. The pawn is coming toward us.

  • ohhh ok thx lol i thought it was the other way around

  • thank you very much ! i had the same question !

  • black is trying to move the pawn up 1 move, not 6 moves. the black pawn has already moved down the board. the white queen was a pawn the moment before this video started.

  • It doesn't work, I am sorry. at 1.44, when queen c4+, which dumbass would move his king to b1?!! Anyway, at this point, the queen don't need to move to a "magic square" just cut the king of from his pawns and march the king down!! what a waste of time!!

  • the queen needs to move to that square to force the other king to move in front of the pawn. otherwise black loses the pawn. maybe if you listen to the guy you'll learn why the moves are necessary. the b1 move isn't that important, its just to show for example how black can still threaten promotion. and really, i don't see how Kb1 is a "dumbass" move. it's not like black hangs the pawn because the king can always move back to defend the pawn.

  • many for-fun players like me will be confused wherether the pawn is going up or down till queen is on c3

  • The black pawn is going toward d1, it can't capture on c3.

  • Handy. Thanks!
